Owner-reported complaints naming the body or structure system, filed with NHTSA
Data refreshed
Reports naming the vehicle structure, frame, body panels, doors, hood and trim. Every record below is an owner-reported complaint about the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach E submitted to NHTSA — not a confirmed defect, not a recall and not a manufacturer bulletin. 8 reports on file name it.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

The panoramic roof glass panel is not properly bonded/sealed to the vehicle body structure, allowing water to leak into the cabin on the driver’s side. The vehicle and the failed component (roof glass/moulding) remain available for inspection upon request. This creates a safety risk consistent with the one described in NHTSA Campaign 21V712000 / Ford Safety Recall 21S42, which covers 2021 Mustang Mach-E vehicles with inadequate panoramic roof glass panel adhesion to the vehicle body structure — a defect that, per Ford’s own recall filing, creates risk of the roof panel separating from the vehicle while driving, increasing the risk of a road hazard, injury, or crash. My vehicle exhibits the water leak symptom associated with this defect, but my VIN was not included in the recall population. The first visible symptom — staining on the driver’s side rear headliner — was documented in a photograph dated XXX, with continued staining documented in a follow-up photograph dated XXX. The vehicle was presented to an authorized Ford dealer (All American Ford of [XXX]) for inspection on XXX. The dealer confirmed the water leak and documented the driver-side top moulding as faulty, with the roof panel requiring replacement. The vehicle was also examined through a BBB AUTO LINE arbitration proceeding (Case #XXX), which acknowledged the existence of Safety Recall 21V712 in connection with this vehicle’s file. There were no warning lamps or dashboard messages associated with this failure; the only symptom has been visible water intrusion and headliner staining. I bought this car in August of 2024. It started having issues with the door lock in September and in December I decided to sell it back to the dealer but was in a car accident on the way to the dealership. Unfortunately the door jamming issue caused repair problems and the auto repair shop could not fix the door issues. I lost the car to the repair shop in a lien sale due to the cost of repair which was over $20,000. In August of 2025 Ford issued a recall which allowed the auto repair shop was able to fix the car and sell it to a dealership. I have contacted Ford several times in relation to the issues with the car and how they caused me to loose the car, but they have not responded despite the promise to do so in 7-15 business days. Loosing this car has caused deep stresses in my life. I have lost several business clients because I'm no longer able to get around. I have had my life impacted to the point of having to relocate. I bought the car outright paying $45,000. Ford has refused to do anything to compensate for my loss.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the "Stop Safely Now” message was displayed. There was a RED warning light illuminated. While the vehicle was being charged, the Ford app showed a charge fault error. The vehicle was undriveable. While using a diagnostic tool, it showed there was a failure with the BCM and DTC: P0AA2 and P0D10 were retrieved. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V412000 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, opened a case, and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 19,000.
Hood latch on vehicle failed. When opening hood to access the frunk (either thru manual hood release, or electronic release on car screen), hood unlocks halfway, and then is in a state where it can neither be opened or closed. Car has questionable safety once hood latch is in this state, as it is partially open and will not relatch. My car is currently at dealer for replacement of striker, hood latch, and actuator components under warranty.
The mach e has a front trunk. I have seen several posts about the front latch failing which includes the emergency release should a child or smaller adult get stuck in the frunk. My mach e did this to me today. As a result I was also forced to drive with the frunk half open to get my car back home until I can get it serviced.
The vehicle started saying a door was ajar without indicating which one. Sometimes we would get an intruder alert while the car was plugged in at work but nothing was open or unlocked. Occasionally the passenger door would open on its own after turning off the car. Now we get a door fault alert after starting the car. We have contacted a local dealer as well as our purchasing dealer but both indicate. Month before they can see the car due to lack of qualified techs. Today, 4/26/2022 the passenger door opened on its own while at highway speed. Only the driver was in the car. The driver had to reach over to rematch the door. A dealer appointment was set two weeks prior for 5/12/2022.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact stated while washing the vehicle he noticed a structural issue with the rear hatch not aligned properly on the vehicle. The contact called the local dealer who informed the contact that all vehicles under the model Mach-E were manufactured alike and there was no repair or fix for the structural design. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 800.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
