Our database contains 3 NHTSA owner-reported complaints for the 1995 Ford Tempo, most frequently naming the electrical, seat belts and tires & wheels categories. 2 NHTSA investigations name it; and 3 manufacturer communications are on file.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.
When owners filed reports about this model year
Not enough dated records to plot a meaningful trend — 3 months of data.
Complaints grouped by the component NHTSA recorded
Percentages are of component mentions. A single complaint can name more than one component, so these do not sum to the total complaint count.
No recalls in our database for this model year
That does not guarantee a specific vehicle is unaffected — recalls are issued against VINs, and new campaigns are announced regularly. Check a VIN on NHTSA.gov.
NHTSA inquiries naming this vehicle. An investigation is not a finding of a defect.

Reports submitted to NHTSA, shown in the owner's own words
IN JULY OF 2000 THE AUTOMATIC SEAT BELT ON THE DRIVER SIDE BECAME STUCK ON THE TRACK AND WOULD NOT MOVE AND THUS THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT AUTOMATICALLY COME BACK AND COVER THE SHOULDER. IT JUST MAKES A LOT OF NOISE WHEN THE CAR DOOR IS OPENED AND CLOSED. THE ONE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOES AUTOMATICALLY COME ACROSS THE SHOULDER WHEN THE DOOR SHUTS BUT DOES MAKE THE SAME NOISE AS THE ONE ON THE DRIVER THAT DOES NOT MOVE ON THE TRACK. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THE SERVICE PEOPLE SAID THAT MY FIVE YEAR/75000 EXPIRED IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT REPAIRED.
DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30MPH CONSUMER BROADSIDED A VEHICLE ON PASSENGER'S SIDE WHERE AUTOMATIC SHOULDER HARNESS DID NOT LOCK, CAUSING DRIVER TO BOUNCE OFF STEERING WHEEL, RESULTING IN SEVERE INJURIES. INVESTIGATING OFFICER SAID THIS WASN'T UNUSUAL, AND THAT THE SEAT BELTS WILL USUALLY NOT LOCK IF THE BRAKES ARE NOT HIT FIRST. *AK *ML
WRONG COMPUTER INSTALLED AT MANUF, RESULTED IN ENGINE STALL AT ANY SPEED, AFFECTING THE STEERING AND BRAKE PREFORMANCE. *AK

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
Complaint and recall counts across every year of this model
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
