Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
0
InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

That does not guarantee a specific vehicle is unaffected — recalls are issued against VINs, and new campaigns are announced regularly. Check a VIN on NHTSA.gov.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FOREST RIVER BLUE RIDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STORAGE DOORS OPENED UPWARDS INSTEAD OF DOWNWARDS, WHICH CAUSED RAIN WATER TO ENTER. THE DEALER (SMALLWOOD'S TRAILERS AND CAMPERS, 4305 US-45 JACKSON, TN 38305) ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE CAMPER IN FOR A TRADE IN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED AND OFFERED TO REPAIR THE CARPET AND DOORS. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.

ISSUE: DOORS TO THE UNDER CABIN STORAGE WERE INSTALLED UPSIDE DOWN ALLOWING LARGE AMOUNTS OF WATER TO LEAK INTO CABIN AREA. FOREST RIVER DID HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE UNIT AND THE ENGINEERS WERE WORKING A SOLUTION, HOWEVER THEY CONTINUE TO SELL THE UNITS. I RECEIVED MY UNIT IN JANUARY 2017.ENGINEERS HAVE NOT DEVELOPED A SOLUTION AS OF TODAY. SAFETY CONCERNS: MOLD THROUGHOUT THE CABIN AREA. OWNERS MANUAL STATES TO KEEP HUMIDITY AT 30 TO 50%. TO PREVENT MOLD. WITH THIS MODEL IT'S IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE OF DESIGN TO MAINTAIN CORRECT HUMIDITY. FRAME SAFETY. THE UNIT HAS BONDED FLOORS. FLOORS ARE BONDED TO THE FRAME. WITH THE WARPING OF THE FLOORS, FRAME SAFETY IS A POSSIBILITIY. COULD POSSIBLY BREAK AWAY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE UNIT WAS INSPECTED AND REPORTED TO FOREST RIVER THROUGH AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ABOUT THE ISSUES. FOREST RIVER SOLUTION IS TO PICK UP THE RV FROM THE REPAIR FACILITY, CONTINUE ON TRAVELING IN THE UNIT. THEY WOULD NOTIFY US OF A SOLUTION WHEN ONE BECOMES AVAILABLE. AS A CONSUMER I FEEL THIS IS AN UNREASONABLE TIME LINE TO SIMPLY WAIT ON A SOLUTION WHICH THE MANUFACTURER HAD PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF. IT IS UNREASONABLE TO ASK ME TO CONTINUE TO TRAVEL IN A POTENTIALLY MOLD INFESTED UNIT.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
