2016 Freightliner M2 Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

WE PURCHASED A BRAND NEW BOX TRUCK FROM I STATE TRUCK (INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, MN). THEY DOT'D THE TRUCK BEFORE WE TOOK POSSESSION OF IT. ON 11/27/17 WE WERE PULLED OVER BY A STATE TROOPER FOR A ROAD SIDE INSPECTION. WE FAILED THE INSPECTION FOR THE "REAR IMPACT GUARD." WE NOTIFIED I STATE IMMEDIATELY AND ASKED THEM TO FIX IT. THEY COULDN'T OR WOULDN'T COMPLETE THE TASK WITHIN 2 WEEKS SO WE BROUGHT IT TO ANOTHER FACILITY. I STATE SHOULD NOT SELL OR DOT TRUCKS THAT DO NOT MEET ALL DOT REQUIREMENTS. IN TRYING TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE DIRECTLY WITH I STATE, THEY ACCUSED DELTA WASECA FOR THE ISSUE BECAUSE DELTA WASECA MANUFACTURED THE BOX AND THE LIFT GATE. IN A CONVERSATION WITH DELTA WASECA ON 6/12/18, THE DELTA WASECA REP ADMITTED THAT THEY KNOW THE DOT REQUIREMENT BUT NONE OF THEIR TRUCKS MEET IT. DELTA WASECA SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO SELL OR MANUFACTURE TRUCKS THAT DO NOT MEET ALL DOT REQUIREMENTS.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
