The defect: ON CERTAIN TRAVEL AND PARK TRAILERS, THE GROSS AXLE WEIGHT RATING (GAWR) ON THE FEDERAL CERTIFICATION LABEL IS INCORRECT.
The risk: THE GAWR RATINGS AS SHOWN ON THE CERTIFICATION LABEL IS 2,359 KGS (5,200 LBS). THE ACTUAL VALUE SHOULD BE 2,304 KGS (5,079 LBS) FOR VEHICLES WITH 'D' RANGE TIRES AND SHOULD BE 1,950 KGS (4,299 LBS) FOR VEHICLES WITH 'C' RANGE TIRES. OVERLOADING OR EXCEEDING THE FRONT GAWR MAY CREATE AXLE FATIGUE OR FAILURE RESULTING IN A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND/OR A CRASH.
The remedy: OWNERS WILL BE PROVIDED A NEW CERTIFICATION LABEL WITH CORRECT INFORMATION AS WELL AS INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. A DEALER WILL REPLACE THE LABEL IF THE CONSUMER SO DESIRES. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 1, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT GENERAL COACH AT 1-519-262-2600.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LARK CARGO TRAILER (NA). THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ONE OF THE TRAILER TIRES BLEW OUT. HE DISCONNECTED THE TRAILER AND LEFT IT AT A GAS STATION. WHEN HE RETURNED, HE REPLACED THE TIRE AND WHEEL AND TOWED HIS TRAILER TO TC TRAILERS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AXLE WAS INSTALLED UPSIDE DOWN. TC TRAILERS CONTACTED LARK UNITED MANUFACTURING, INC. AND SHOWED THEM PICTURES OF THE UPSIDE DOWN AXLE. LARK MANUFACTURING STATED THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE TWO TIRES, THE FENDER, AND THE ALUMINUM SIDING THAT HAD BEEN LIFTED OFF THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE TRAILER. IT HAS BEEN THREE WEEKS SINCE THE MANUFACTURER SPOKE WITH TC TRAILERS AND NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. NO OTHER VEHICLE INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE.

THIS PRELIMINARY INFORMATION COMMUNICATION PROVIDES INFORMATION TO HELP THE DEALERSHIP TECHNICIANS PERFORM A PARASITIC DRAIN TEST FOR THE ONSTAR MODULE. WHEN PERFORMING BATTERY PARASITIC DRAIN TEST, THERE MAY BE SOME CONFUSION AS TO WHAT THE NORMAL POWER CONSUMPTION READING SHOULD BE FROM THE ONSTAR SYSTEM.
