2022 GMC Acadia Engine Problems

“Steering Assist is Reduced” warning, P0128 code, thermostat-related symptoms, increased steering effort or other safety concerns while driving. This issue required increased steering effort and affected my wife's driving ability to respond to changing traffic conditions. This is most likely a faulty thermostat housing assembly. This has been well documented temperature gauge problems, cooling system issues, and related warning messages. Our GMC Acadia is a 2022 AT4 with 53,500 miles. GM recently issued Special Coverage N252508350 for 2021 Acadias with the 3.6L LGX engine affected by thermostat housing issues. Owners of other model years reporting substantially similar symptoms remain responsible for the repair cost. Please investigate this.

purchased the vehicle in good faith, unaware that the check engine light was illuminated at the time of purchase and not informed that this indicated a serious mechanical or emissions-related issue. After purchase, the dealership repaired an emissions-related problem, and the check engine light was no longer present when the vehicle was returned to me. However, within three days of having the vehicle back in my possession, I began experiencing additional issues, including electrical malfunctions and abnormal noises coming from the front wheels. These problems caused the vehicle to feel unsafe to operate and raised serious concerns about its reliability and overall safety. Due to these concerns, I returned the vehicle to the dealership immediately.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Acadia. The vehicle was recently purchased, and at the time of purchase, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the emissions system had failed. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, three days after the vehicle was picked up from the dealer, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the rotors and brakes had failed, and the lining for the front two wheels was damaged. In addition, the contact informed the dealer that all four windows failed to function as intended. The contact stated that the buttons to roll up or down the windows failed to operate as needed. Additionally, while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle vibrated abnormally. The contact stated that when the radio was turned on, there was an abnormal sound coming from the radio. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The contact was provided a loaner vehicle. The contact sent an email to the manager at the dealer regarding the vehicle. The contact was offered assistance. The following day, an employee from the dealer reached out and informed the contact that no assistance would be provided and that if the rental was not returned, it would be reported as stolen. The contact stated that she was threatened after the employee realized that she had thought about filing a Lemon Law complaint. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.

Multiple times an alert has been given for "Driver assist temporarily reduced, drive cautiously". Additionally, the check engine light has come on, with codes for the cooling system. Cooling system fan (HVAC Blower) remains on after shutting off vehicle for anywhere from 5-15 minutes. Coolant levels have been checked and are correct. Heat & AC function, however the thermostat gauge on the instrument panel does not read any temperature at all. At this time, the vehicle has not been taken to the dealership for assessment due to financial constraints.

My Acadia has had a stuttering problem and we have taken it to the dealership many times. They finally changed the torque converter but that didn’t fix it. Now today (4/15/25) I got home and I was getting a steering assist reduced error code and then when I turned my car off the fan went as high as it could and wouldn’t turn off. Finally after a bit of time it turned off. I got my car 4/28/22

my car (2022 GMC Acadia Denali) died on a busy road (XXX) due to this issue yesterday, the engine just stops at 75 miles per hours, I'm barely made safe to the border of the highway. Fuel management system and Engine electrical system were the errors. The FMCE module need to be replaced as the dealer technician stated. The contact stated that when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the contact stated that an unknown fluid was shooting out onto the contact's foot. In addition, the contact stated that the front driver's and the passenger's floorboards were soiled with the fluid. There are currently approximately 22,000 miles on this vehicle. On approximately December 22, 2023, the car was operating normally, and has been since purchased with 3 miles on it, the car was being parked into a flat parking spot at a local store, when the car was stopped completely, the engine/start button was pushed, which normally put the car into park and shut the car down, this time, the car shut down but NEVER went into Park and started to drift forward approximately 2 feet before the driver was aware that the car was moving. Luckily there was enough room left when the car was parked if not it would have hit another car or someone else. The passenger door was opened upon shut down and the passenger was getting out and that was the only way the passengers knew the car was still moving. The car or incident has not been reported to the dealer as of now but will be in the near future. There were no warning lamps or messages however the brakes were hit immediately upon recognition and the D light was still illuminated. This issue has not been recreated nor has it happened before.
