What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2001 GMC C/K Utility, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

From owner reports, verbatim
ON WEDNESDAY SEPT. 3 2003 WE WERE TRAVELING EASTBOUND ON THE 210 FREEWAY IN THE CARPOOL LANE AT ABOUT 65-70MPH. THEN WITHOUT WARNING OUR DRIVERSIDE REAR TIRE BLEW. I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE TRUCK AND THANKFULLY THE CARS BEHIND ME LET ME OVER TO THE SHOULDER. THIS WAS THE SECOND OF THESE TIRES TO FAIL ON ME TWO MONTHS AGO, THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT TIRE FAILED IN A SIMILAR FASHION. MY GMC SERVICE BODY 2500 TRUCK CAME BRAND NEW WITH THESE TIRES INSTALLED, AND HAVE TESTED FATE TWICE NOW BEFORE PUTTING 34,000 MILES ON THEM.*AK
Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
