2005 GMC Envoy Problems

FUEL LEAKED EVERYWHERE HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PIPE, HOSE AND MORE PIPES. REPRESENTATIVES AT GMC ADVICED ME THAT OTHER VEHICLES WITH THE SAME TANK HAS RECALLS AND MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE PART OF THE RECALL! I CALLED GMC MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY OPENED AND CLOSED THE CASE WITHOUT ANY INVESTIGATION AS THEY PROMISED! I PAID $991.55 FOR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED IN A RECALL. I BELIEVE IT IS RECALL ID 12V459000 JUST BASED ON MY INTERNET SEARCHES. GMC IS DENYING ME AN INVESTIGATION! MY ACCIDENT WAS MAY 25TH 2018, MY BACK PASSENGER WENT OFF OF A SOFT SHOULDER THROWING ME INTO 2 TREES, I HIT FIRST ONE AND SEATBELT CAME APART BUT STILL OVER ONE SHOULDER HITTING SECOND TREE AND ONLY THING THAT SAVED ME WAS MY RIGHT FOOT WAS UNDER THE BRAKE AND NOT ON IT, I HIT MY HEAD ON WINDSHIELD CAUSING ME TO HAVE VISION PROBLEMS, SEVERE WHIPLASH, AND RSD IN RIGHT LEG, I HAVE TO HAVE CANE, WALKER, OR POWERCHAIR, MY HUSBAND WANTS A DIVORCE BC OF MY DEPRESSION, MY KIDS GET FUSTRASTED BC I FORGET I SAID SOMETHING AND I CONTINUE TO REPEATEDLY SAY THING, I NEVER HAD NONE OF THIS WRONG WITH ME TILL THIS ACCIDENT AND MONIQUE HILL IN CLAIMS SAYS NONE OF MY INJURIES NOR MY FAMILY PROBLEMS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH GENERAL MOTORS AND I DIDN'T HIT SENSORS, I NEVER HAD A SEATBELT ON BUT IF THAT WAS THE CASE THAT DING SOUND WOULDN'T HAVE STOPPED! 1) I just purchased the vehicle in Oct 2026 & 3 days after purchase, it broke down in Walmart parking lot due to, all the antifreeze pouring out. 2) December 2026 had to replace the front tires as they were stripped to the threads from rubbing against the fender wells. 3) January 2026 Wouldn’t start, wouldn’t turn over or anything. Had the ignition replaced. Ran fine for one week. 4) Currently won’t start. Broke down.

On steering wheel where the GMC logo is . Melted/Melting from underneath. Some type of clear color gooey. Have been told it is seal for airbag. Also none of the chimes are not working at all example * seat belts, door,blinkers,dashboard chimes *dummy lights*,along with Bose stereo. Last issues are REAR VIEW MIRROR... KEEPS FALLING OFF. have taken to dealership SEVERAL TIMES! Now they are saying that I need to contact my auto insurance provider to put in claims.

DIM LIGHTS ARE FLICKERING NOT WANTING TO STAY ON

ABOUT 4 YEARS I NOTICED MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS SOMETIMES WOULD NOT WORK AT NIGHT, FORCING ME TO DRIVE WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON, BLINDING OTHER MOTORISTS. THIS WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALER'S SERVICE MANAGER AND HE SAID IT MAY COST $500 TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. I COULD NOT AFFORD THIS EXPENDITURE. I TRY TO AVOID DRIVING AT NIGHT AND ONLY RECENTLY I HAD TO DRIVE AT NIGHT AND AGAIN MY LOW BEAMS WOULD NOT WORK, FORCING ME TO AGAIN DRIVE WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON. MY FIANC DID A GOOGLE SEARCH AND LEARNED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS FUSE/RELAY. WE LEARNED WE COULD PULL OUT THE HIGH BEAM FUSE/RELAY WHICH IS IDENTICAL TO THE LOW BEAM AND SWITCH THEM. UPON DOING SO, THE LOW BEAMS ONCE AGAIN WORKED.

MY VEHICLE WHEN PURCHASED WAS ALTERED FROM CLOTH SEATS TO LEATHER BY THE DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED. 3 DAYS AGO MY CAR IS SIGNALING ME TO SERVICE AIRBAG WHILE DRIVING THE CAR OR IN IDLE. SO I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC AT MEINEKE AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ON MY YEAR, MAKE & MODEL SUV. I CALLED GM ON 11/29/2019 AND WAS TOLD BY A SUPERVISOR NAMED ANGEL THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALLS BY THEIR MANUFACTURER AND THERE IS NOTHING MORE SHE CAN DO ABOUT THE MATTER. I CANNOT DRIVE MY CAR LIKE THIS KNOWING THIS CAN BE POTENTIALLY HARMFUL AND HAZARDOUS.

The contact owned a 2005 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, another vehicle driven by a drunk driver swerved into the front of the vehicle, causing a front collision. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact's wife, who was occupying the front passenger seat and wearing a seat belt, was severely injured and was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The contact's wife was diagnosed with a fractured right knee cap, right ankle bone chips and ligament damage, damaged left toes, a double bone bruise in the left knee, bruised seat belt mark. The contact's wife was hospitalized for 6 days and was admitted to a rehabilitation facility for 11 days. The contact stated that his wife was currently confined to a wheelchair. The contact's wife was currently awaiting a knee replacement. The vehicle was towed and totaled. A police report was filed. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 270,000.

I purchased my vehicle in oct of 2021 in Nov 2021 is when my car started failing my car started to lose power also started smoking from the lower passenger side no warning lights came on besides the oil warning light since Nov 2021 my car has been losing power it only goes up to about 40 m.p.h I have been smelling fuel coming from some where my tail and license plate light and back driver side inside car light stopped working the engine light turns on and off the steering wheel makes the car lose a little bit of power when I turn the wheel or when I roll up and down the windows or adjust my seat my ac does not work the back ac turns on by it's self to the heater does not work when I have it turned all the way to the 5 I hear clicking knocking noises in the back passenger side of the car my fuel injectors had puddles of oil in them the car gets really hot and blows hot air the engine is always hot the seatbelt lights are constantly flashing my check engine light as of today flashes on and off and the car jumps also my car caught on fire under the hood where the O2 sensor is started smoking than caught on fire.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CONTACT NEEDED A NOTICE THAT WAS ADDRESSED FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,400.

All the gages have stopped working correctly. They do not report proper information to driver . The electrical wiring to the rear wiper, license plate lights and rear hatch stopped working. The most dangerous thing is the ABS brake system dash lights and bell comes on every time the car is driven and the brake pedal goes to the floor when trying to stop.

BRAKE LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING; THE LIGHT BULBS WORK, BUT WHEN YOU PUSH IN THE BREAKS NEITHER BACK BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON. THE ONLY WORKING BREAK LIGHT IS THE MIDDLE TOP ONE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR MASTER SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO WATER INTRUSION INTO THE CIRCUIT WHICH CAUSED THE POLES TO BE RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THE MODEL YEAR GMC ENVOY XL SUBJECTED TO THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V599000 (VISIBILITY) WAS 2006-2007. THE CONTACT WAS OFFERED NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP/FUEL SENSOR/ELECTRONIC GAS GAUGE; FLICKERING/DIMMING HEADLIGHTS; FREEZING/INABILITY TO CONTROL DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT AND CONTROLS. 1/4 OF FRONT INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS OUT; DRIVERS SIDE SEAT CONTROL LIGHTING 1/4 OUT; CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND LOW FUEL LIGHT ON CONTINUOUSLY SINCE 1997. TIE RODS BOTH REPLACED AS WELL AS BOTH FRONT SWAY BARS. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING VEHICLE PURCHASE, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD CONTINUOUSLY GO OFF. I WOULD CALL ONSTAR AT WHICH POINT I WAS TOLD TO TAKE CAR IN FOR REPAIR W/I 7-10 DAYS (OFTEN TOLD A PROBLEM W/POWERTRAIN OR TRANSMISSION) . AT DEALERS SERVICE DEPT, TOLD OVER AND OVER AGAIN AFTER TONS OF WORRY, CONCERN AND TIME SPENT, THAT ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ON THIS CAR TENDS TO TRIP/TRIGGER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THEY WOULD JUST RESET IT SO AFTER AWHILE, I BEGAN TO DISREGARD THE LIGHT AS I WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP ALMOST WEEKLY. APPROX 2 YRS AFTER PURCHASE, FILLED UP GAS TANK AND FUEL LIGHT SHOWED "LOW FUEL". WENT BACK UP TO FULL, DROPPED TO 1/2 AND BACK TO EMPTY. WENT BACK TO FULL AFTER CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND CONTINUED TO DO THIS. AFTER ABOUT 2 WEEKS, CONSTANTLY STAYS AT EMPTY. CALLED REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD APPROX $700-800 TO DROP TANK AND REPLACE FUEL SENSOR WHICH I COULD NOT AFFORD AND BEGAN TO TRACK ODOMETER AND REFILL TANK AFTER 200 MILES DRIVEN AFTER FILL UP. HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR 5 YEARS. JAN 29,2011, I GO FOR EMISSION TEST. FAIL D/T LOW FUEL AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON. GO TO MECHANIC, APPROX $950 REPAIR. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF...AND BACK ON NEXT DAY. READ THOUSANDS OF POSTS ONLINE AND AM FINDING MANY, MANY ENVOY OWNERS EXPERIENCING SAME PROBLEMS AS MINE. THE WIPERS WERE THE FIRST TO GO. THAT NEEDED A CONTROL MODULE. THE TOUCH PADS FOR THE TAIL GATE WERE NEXT. FIRST THE DROP DOWN THEN THE SWING. THEN THE RIGHT SIDE PASSENGER DOOR INSIDE HANDLE STOPPED WORKING. THEN THE LEFT SIDE REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE DOESN'T WORK. THEN THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE DOESN'T WORK. THEN THE FUEL GAUGE DOESN'T WORK. NOW THE PASSENGER'S WINDOW DOESN'T OPEN. 5TH SPEED ON THE HEATER STOPPED WORKING. WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH GMC? THAT IS A HIGH END VEHICLE AND AS SUCH SHOULD NOT BE PLAGUED WITH SUCH PROBLEMS. *KB

6/13/2011 VEHICLE TAKEN TO GMC SERVICE FOR TRANSMISSION FLUSH AND FILTER CHANGE. RETURNING HOME SAME AFTERNOON VEHICLE TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING AND STOPPED MOVING. AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO MOVE VEHICLE IT WAS TOWED TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP. SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT PROBABLY BROKEN HARD PARTS INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION WERE TO BLAME. REBUILD TRANS. IN RANGE OF 2$K, REPLACEMENT $3K. SPOKE WITH GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE, NO EXPLANATION WHY TRANSMISSION FAILED OR ASSIST TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION. THIS VEHICLE HAS 105,151 MILES ON ODOMETER. *TR

I HEARD ON THE NEWS THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THESE GOODYEAR TIRES, BUT ON THE NEWS...I THOUGHT I UNDERSTOOD THEM TO SAY IT WAS THE 18" FORTERA? EXHAUST MANIFOLD FAILURE. MECHANIC SAYS IN 25 YEARS HE HAS NEVER SEEN AS MANY FAILURES AS IN THESE MODELS,AS IT IS USUALLY VERY RARE FOR THEM TO FAIL. IN RESEARCHING ON LINE I HAVE FOUND IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN '03 THROUGH '08 MODEL GMC ENVOYS AND CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS. *TR

I WAS DOING PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE ON MY 2005 GMC ENVOY AND WHILE I HAD THE PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL OFF I HAD NOTICED A FAIRLY LARGE RUSTED HOLE IN THE SIDE OF THE FRAME TO THE LEFT OF THE SHOCK TOWER. I COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT A 2005 VEHICLE HAD FRAME RUST THAT WENT CLEAR THROUGH THE VEHICLE. I HAVE A 1981 JEEP THAT I USE AS A FARM VEHICLE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE FRAME RUST THROUGH. I AM SURE THAT BEFORE THIS VEHICLE IS PAID OFF IT WILL HAVE A BROKEN FRAME SOON. I JUST CHECKED THE HOLE YESTERDAY AND IT IS GETTING LARGER. VERY POOR METAL USED IN THESE FRAMES. NOT SATISFIED. A FRAME OUGHT TO LAST LONGER THAN THAT. *TR

I just want to add to my recent complaint made December 2021 file number 11444000 when our left side brake failed to disengage completely causing the vehicle to vear left into 2 traffic light poles. recently have the front end rebuilt and noticed the seat belts needs to be replaced or rebuilt but the passenger side belt is retracted so hard I cant get it off the seat, it is crushing the seat basically and I see other complaints of this happening and almost suffocating the passenger. I was lucky my wife was not with or the belt would have pinned her in, the driver belt is stuck as it was when i removed it.

MY ACCIDENT WAS MAY 25TH 2018, MY BACK PASSENGER WENT OFF OF A SOFT SHOULDER THROWING ME INTO 2 TREES, I HIT FIRST ONE AND SEATBELT CAME APART BUT STILL OVER ONE SHOULDER HITTING SECOND TREE AND ONLY THING THAT SAVED ME WAS MY RIGHT FOOT WAS UNDER THE BRAKE AND NOT ON IT, I HIT MY HEAD ON WINDSHIELD CAUSING ME TO HAVE VISION PROBLEMS, SEVERE WHIPLASH, AND RSD IN RIGHT LEG, I HAVE TO HAVE CANE, WALKER, OR POWERCHAIR, MY HUSBAND WANTS A DIVORCE BC OF MY DEPRESSION, MY KIDS GET FUSTRASTED BC I FORGET I SAID SOMETHING AND I CONTINUE TO REPEATEDLY SAY THING, I NEVER HAD NONE OF THIS WRONG WITH ME TILL THIS ACCIDENT AND MONIQUE HILL IN CLAIMS SAYS NONE OF MY INJURIES NOR MY FAMILY PROBLEMS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH GENERAL MOTORS AND I DIDN'T HIT SENSORS, I NEVER HAD A SEATBELT ON BUT IF THAT WAS THE CASE THAT DING SOUND WOULDN'T HAVE STOPPED! MY LIFE HAS COMPLETELY CHANGED AND I'M LOSING MY FAMILY BC OF A ACCIDENT

i was driving down hwy then all of a sudden i see n my rear view mirror that im dragging my passenger side quarter panel .. so i pulled off then took the rest of quarter panel off .. start driving again then i keep hearing the same noise .. i pulled off again & noticed that the tread on my tire had completely peeled off the tire itself.. tire still is hiolding air … i cant fathom the idea how it did this.. the body of my car rear passenger side is completely demolished..

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE MADE A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE WHEN DRIVING. WHILE DRIVING UPHILL, THE VEHICLE DRAMATICALLY DECELERATES AS IF THE ENGINE WAS STALLING. THE ENGINE AND OIL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE, BUT THE OIL LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER FOUR TIMES AND THEY REPROGRAMMED THE P.C. ANOTHER DEALER STATED THAT THE ENGINE DRAGS WHEN TRAVELING UPHILL, WHICH WAS PROBABLY DUE TO THE CLUTCH FANS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK. AFTER ALL FOUR REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED, HER VEHICLE CONTINUES TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME FAILURES. SHE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,809 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
