2003 GMC L Series Transmission Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the transmission system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Transmission reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

UNDER NORMAL, NON-TOWING DRIVING, THE 2007 TAHOE (WITH 27,000 MILES) WOULD NOT GO FORWARD WHEN PLACED INTO DRIVE. AS A RESULT, MY FAMILY IS PRESENTLY UNABLE TO USE THE VEHICLE AND IT WAS TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THIS OCCURRED AFTER THE TRANSMISSION WAS COMPLETELY REPLACED AT ABOUT 12,000 MILES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. *NM

I PURCHASED A 1999 CHEVROLET S10 BLAZER IN MARCH 2002. SINCE THEN, I HAVE REPLACED A FRONT END, A REAR END AND A TRANSMISSION. NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE THE REAR END AGAIN. I HAVE 143000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE AND I AM NOT HAPPY WITH IT ALL. I WOULD LIKE SOMETHING DONE BY GM IN REGARDS TO MY PLIGHT. I HAVE HAD GM CARS MOST OF MY LIFE AND NEVER HAD ONE AS BAD AS THIS. I AM READY TO GO TO A FOREIGN VEHICLE. THIS IS UNDOUBTEDLY THE WORST VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED. *NM

THIS 2000 SATURN LS1 WAS PURCHASED NEW 1/12/00. ON 3/20/01 AND 23655 MILES, THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER DUE TO CLUTCH PEDAL LOW TO THE FLOOR AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO SHIFT GEARS. THEY REPLACED THE CONCENTRIC SLAVE CYLINDER. ON 5/28/02 AND 46235 MILES, THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER DUE TO SES LIGHT ON AND RUNNING ROUGH IN R, 1RST, AND 2ND GEAR. THEY REPLACED THE CONCENTRIC SLAVE CYLINDER. ON 11/29/04 AND 79906 MILES, THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER DUE TO THE CLUTCH PEDAL NOT HOLDING PRESSURE AND THE GEARS COULD NOT BE SHIFTED.
