FUEL TANK LEAKING AROUND SEAM. HAS THERE BEEN ANY RECALLS ON THIS PROBLEM? MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE THIS YEAR GMC JIMMY HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.*AK

OUR 1994 GMC JIMMY WAS BEING DRIVEN BY MY WIFE AND HAD MY TWO CHILDREN INSIDE. SHE EXITED THE PARKING LOT OF THE LOCAL FOOD STORE. AFTER CROSSING TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE STREET, SHE NOTICED TRAFFIC STOPPED AHEAD FOR THE UPCOMING STOPLIGHT. SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES, BUT NOTHING HAPPENED, AND SHE STARTED A FOUR CAR CHAIN REACTION. THIS RESULTED IN THE DAMAGE OF FOUR VEHICLES AND THREE EMERGENCY ROOM VISITS. (INCLUDUNG MY SON, WHO HIT & BROKE THE WINDSHIELD). IT APPEARS THAT EVERYONE IS O.K. AT THIS POINT, ALL LEAVING UNDER THEIR OWN POWER. THERE WERE NO SKID MARKS PRESENT OR REPORTED BY POLICE, WHICH APPEARS TO COLLABORATE MY WIFES ACCOUNT OF THE INCIDENT. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RECALL INFORMATION FROM GMC, THOUGH I SEE, THROUGH YOUR WEBSITE, THAT IT MAY BE EMMINENT. WHAT SHOULD WE DO FROM THIS POINT. IF GMC IS AT FAULT, WHY SHOULD MY WIFE BE TICKETTED AND MY INSURANCE RECORD BE MARRED BY THEIR NEGLIGENT IN-ACTION.

Manufacturer communications
A bulletin sent by a manufacturer to its dealers. Not a recall, and repairs are not necessarily free.
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU/ECM)
Expanded Availability for Remanufacture and Return (R&R) Electronic Control Modules
POWER TRAIN

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
Compare model years
Complaint and recall counts across every year of this model
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
