2020 GMC Sierra 2500 Driver assistance Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the driver-assistance system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Driver assistance reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

The main tailgate will not go down or function properly and it says online there is a national recall for this, but does not come up when I search my vehicle. When I turn on my left turn signal the brights flash for no reason and this is a known major issue with the vehicles as well. The trucks computer is telling me low on coolant even though it is not that has already been fixed through a 3rd pARTY WARRANTY Parking brake was stuck on when I bought the vehicle and had been for a long time you could tell and I had to pay over $1100 to fix it at GM. The Ford collision system does not work properly and the cameras will come on at certain times when they're not supposed to be and not come on when they are supposed to be

The contact owns a 2020 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle independently slowed and dramatically decelerated. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The contact stated that when the failure occurred, the gear shifter position indicator light flashed, and once the vehicle returned to normal functionality, the light remained solid. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the Forward Collision Avoidance warning sensor. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 102,000.

My vehicle inadvertently locks the rear tires at highway speeds and then releases and drives. In some instances it may brake several times causing the tires to burn rubber for a short distance causing rear traffic to either swerve to avoid rear ending me and in a couple instances causes the rear following traffic to abruptly change lanes to avoid rear ending me

There is an issue that is causing the batteries to die. This in return causes the Vehicle to go into Limp home mode with no warning. The "issue" was supposed to be resolved by the Dealer in March 2022. The resolution was that one battery was bad. The vehicle is equipped with two batteries. Each of which is sufficient to run the vehicle. A single battery failure should not have caused the truck to have a power limitation. Furthermore the issue was not resolved and General Motors and the Local dealership refuse to continue to work on the issue. This is even after filling complaints with BBB. As of November 2022 the issue has cause both batteries to go bad. The dealer has refused to work on the vehicle and it has been out of service for more than 30 days. Secondary issue. The dealer has refused to work on the vehicle but computer is locked by GM so that only GM equipment can see full scope of codes. This means I can not have third parties work on the vehicle. This is can get the vehicle stuck in areas where there is not GM facilities and GM will not provide any assistance as it is not under warranty. This has also prevented me from finding the actual resolution to the problem.

While driving Truck was setting Cruise Control at approx 100km/hr. The cruise would set but at approx 70km/hr. Tried to set multiple time throughout the trip but no change. Recorded video and sent to dealer. They brought truck in to check it out, but said that since they can't duplicate the problem they cannot diagnose it. This has happened multiple times and have recorded video each time. Again dealer said they can't do anything unless they see it themselves.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
