2026 GMC Sierra 2500 Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Ongoing issues with Steering pull to right, and brake pull to hard right when applying brakes, which also turns steering wheel to right upon application. Have to keep steering wheel towards left with constant pressure to go in straight line and when braking. Driver has to be aware of changing road conditions that could affect that. Multiple inspections at multiple dealers have found no obvious issues, and multiple alignments performed, with tires also being replaced have had no success in correcting issue. Front suspension starting to feel loose due, and rear suspension squeak when going over bumps. Also recently found rear axle is shifted slightly to right. Suspect all are related. No parts replaced to date other than the tires. Happens daily. No accidents to date. Daily driver with long trips at times. Steering pull Issue has present since new but everything else has occurred since about 1800 miles and has progressively become worse. Conditions becomes worse at highway/freeway speeds of 65 to 80, but occurs as low as 10mph. Going back to 3rd dealer to look at it again. Truck is 2026 with 10,583 miles.

Fire reported

The contact called on behalf of an insurer who owns a 2026 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated that 15 minutes after the vehicle was parked and turned off, a neighbor informed the owner that the vehicle had caught on fire. The owner and the neighbor extinguished the fire using water hoses. The contact stated that the fire originated under the rear passenger’s side seat and was caused by an overheating amplifier that had short-circuited. No warning light was illuminated. The Fire Department responded to the scene and filed a report. There was no Police report filed. There was no injury or property damage. The vehicle remained parked, and the owner intended to return the vehicle to the dealer. The owner was provided a loaner vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.

DOT AH9K82 3425 LT265/70R17 121/118Q All four brand new tires on my brand new truck have bulges on the sides of the tires. The truck feels floaty and unsafe at highway speeds. The car dealership is saying it’s fine, won’t replace them, and says it’s a known issue with the tire.

I recently purchased my vehicle from Big Star Dealership in Baytown Tx. At a little over 1000 miles i was towing a camper. The vehicle stalled, fuel pouring from engine. It was towed and repaired due to fuel pump failure. At a little over 3000 miles the vehicle would not start. Dealership initially said water contamination then changed it and said gasoline contamination and now they say DEF contamination. The vehicle stalling the first time almost caused me to wreck the vehicle

During normal use, the factory wireless phone charging pad in the center console overheated, produced visible smoke inside the cabin, and melted the charging surface area. No liquids or foreign metal objects were present. The phone was placed normally on the charging pad. The incident created a burning smell and visible damage to the interior trim. The system did not shut down before damage occurred. This appears to be a potential electrical or thermal safety failure in the factory-installed wireless charging system.

Brand new delivery there was a noise that changes with engine RPM. It also changed with turning the steering wheel. The dealer diagnosed a bad power steering pump. Due to possible metallic contamination all related parts that are connected to the power steering pump including the HydroBoost brake assist are going to be replaced

Radio has zero sound - the issue is the radio sound also has the blinker sound, hands free safety/navigation guidance along with the On Star safety function. None of that is functional. The dealer states it's a known issue and parts are not available. How can this be when they keep building new units. GM has been contacted with zero help and no response around my safety concerns. While it seems like a small thing when we say radio I'm not concerned with the lack of music but this system controls way more than music.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
