2014 GMC Yukon Engine Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the engine system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Engine reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

While driving the vehicle it randomly looses engine function decreasing speed rapidly. The check engine light comes on and it says engine power reduced along with traction-off and stabilitrak- off. There was a safety recall 14V-614 that pertains to the chassis electronic module. I have had multiple shops look at the problem the last being a GMC dealer who replaced the accelerator pedal for the 2nd time but did not fix the issue. This issue began in early 2024 and vehicle has sat in driveway not being driven every since.

Ticking sound I'm not sure where it's coming from. But when I drive begins to get louder, and my traction turns off while on The highway or any road going over it?Twenty miles an hour, which is extremely dangerous on texas roads.

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that on four separate occasions, while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted after 10 minutes on the first occasion but started a lot sooner during the later failures. Additionally, the contact stated that at the last failure, while idling at a red light, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to a dealer; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 192,150.

While driving, the vehicle display screen and lights start turning off and on. The warning lamp says " service trailer brake system" and the vehicle is unable to accelerate at all. Leaving me at a stand still in the middle of the road. It's a safely hazard because it happens suddenly and without warning and I am unable to move my vehicle so I'm just in the middle of the road. I haven't taken it in to the dealership yet. I looked online and there is a recall called " chassis electronic control module internal contamination" that meets the description of what's going on here, but when I called GMC they said there is no recall for my specific Vin, even though the recall is for my make model and year.

FOULED SPARK AND EXCESSIVE DEPOSIT FORMATION IN THE PISTON RING GROOVES ALONG WITH EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION. THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON THE VEHICLE, BUT IS RATHER A KNOWN ISSUE DUE TO DESIGN DEFECTS WITH THE PCV SYSTEM, WHICH HAS NOT BEEN ADEQUATELY ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER. TSB 10-06-01-008M ADDRESSES THIS EXACT CONDITION. GMC HAS ADVISED ON THE APPROPRIATE CORRECTIVE ACTIONS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES, BUT STILL REQUIRES CUSTOMERS TO BEAR THE COSTS OF CORRECTING THE DEFECT. VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 83,000 MILES ON IT.
