What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2012 Heartland Prowler, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

HEALTH HAZARD IN RV FRESH WATER TANK I PURCHASED A 2012 PROWLER 26P BH TRAVEL TRAILER. THIS TRAILER IS MANUFACTURED BY HEARTLAND RECREATIONAL VEHICLES, LLC. THIS RV IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. HEARTLAND RECREATIONAL VEHICLES, LLC, (HEARTLAND RV) IS PUTTING DEFECTIVE FRESH WATER TANKS INTO THEIR RVS. THE TANKS SAG IN THE MIDDLE LEAVING OVER 15 GALLONS OF WATER IN THEM WHICH CANNOT BE DRAINED OR USED. THE TANKS HAVE A CAPACITY OF 49 GALLONS. THAT LEAVES APPROXIMATELY ONE THIRD OF THE WATER LEFT IN THE TANK AFTER DRAINING THE TANK WITH THE FACTORY INSTALLED DRAIN. THERE IS A FITTING ON THE SIDE OF THE TANK THAT HAS THE DUAL PURPOSE OF BEING USED FOR THE DRAIN AND THE PICKUP FOR THE WATER PUMP. THE FITTING IS NOT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE TANK AS IT SHOULD BE AND THE EXCESSIVE SAGGING OF THE TANK TRAPS THE WATER. THIS IS A HEALTH HAZARD AS THIS WATER IS INTENDED TO BE POTABLE WATER THAT IS USED FOR COOKING AND DRINKING. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PROPERLY SANITIZE AND FLUSH THE TANK WITH THIS MUCH WATER LEFT IN IT AFTER DRAINING. THE RECOMMENDED PROCEDURE IS TO SANITIZE WITH CHLORINE BLEACH AND THEN THOROUGHLY DRAIN AND FLUSH OUT THE TANK. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PROPERLY FLUSH THIS TANK BECAUSE OF THE LARGE AMOUNT OF WATER TRAPPED IN THE TANK. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DEADLY SITUATION WHICH WARRANTS A FACTORY RECALL. Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
