What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2006 Honda Accord, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Each component in detail
What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words
Airbags
Reports naming the air-bag system — deployment behaviour, inflators, sensors and warning lights.
From owner reports, verbatim
The vehicle was taken to two Honda dealerships apon noticing the D light blinking on the dashboard after reaching highway speeds. Also started getting worse overtime, currently when starting up, and putting into drive, nothing happens, and after a few seconds it will plurge forward into gear on its own. Down shifting when braking is rough and delayed also. Ive addressed this issue with Honda, and they just look my vin number and tell me there is no recall and id have to pay $200 out of pocket simply to run a diagnostic, when I know this should be covered under their recall as all symptoms are matching their current recalls for this vehicle. Also accomanied sometimes with a check engine light indicating the O2 Sensor connected to the catalater converter is having a delayed reaction. Also the airbag red light is always steady illuminated. This vehicle has never been in a crash and is very well maintained and Id like to keep it that way by addressing this issues accordingly in a timely manner. Thank you, Kindly.
While driving down street, both curtain airbags deployed sporadically with absolutely no cause. I was not hit anywhere and I was not even using my brakes or slowing to a stop. My head got smashed in and my view was completely obstructed. I was able to pull off road to safety.
Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim

The AC DELCO brake pads were reported to be designed for use on the front calipers of a 2006 Honda Accord. While performing a routine brake caliper cleaning and inspection, I observed that the friction material completely separated from the metal backing plate on the passenger outboard brake pad. Additionally, an area near the top portion of the friction material cracked, forming an approximate one inch vertical tear through the pad. The crack was missing approximately 4 to 5 millimeters of friction material across horizontally (i.e., it was possible to look through it). Separation of the friction material from the backing plate appeared to be partially from corrosion/rust that was able to occur behind the friction material; between it and the metal backing plate. The two points at which protrusions from the friction material attached to the backing plate experienced shear and were completely severed. This resulted in diminished braking capacity and may have contributed to a minor accident as the car was not braking as effectively or responsively as usual.
Steering
Reports naming the steering system — racks, columns, power-steering assist and steering linkage.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving 15-20 MPH, the contact became aware of an abnormal burning odor, and there was smoke coming from under the hood. The contact stated that the smoke increased while at a complete stop in traffic. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact inspected the vehicle after pulling over to the side of the road and after arriving at the residence. The contact stated that the power steering hose was leaking at the back of the engine, near the firewall, onto the catalytic converter, and onto the power steering lines. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V222000 (Steering); however, the dealer informed the contact that the recall repair could not be performed because the power steering pump was an aftermarket part. The contact stated that the dealer failed to honor the recall repair, which only involved the power steering hose replacement. The vehicle was taken to Automotive Technology of West Islip, where the contact was informed that the vehicle should be repaired under the recall. The mechanic contacted the manufacturer on the contact's behalf; however, the manufacturer confirmed that the recall repair could not be performed because the power steering pump was an aftermarket part. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 141,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
Clicking in steering wheel, and steering wheel very stiff. Not sure if it's the flex coupler or something else. Has been ongoing for probably 2 or 3 years. Also headliner is falling, has been lifting for a couple of years but now it's to the point where I'm afraid it'll fall on my head and block my vision while driving. This is a common issue with these older hondas Headliner needs a recall/warranty extension from the manufacturer. The flex coupler if that is the issue needs a recall or warranty extension as well. Kia has done this for their older specific vehicles with this flex coupler issue (my other car which had the same problem)
Electrical
Reports naming the electrical system — wiring, battery, charging, control modules, infotainment and electrical accessories.
From owner reports, verbatim
After driving my Honda Accord for 135,000 miles, the ignition switch malfunctioned and I am unable to start the car, it seems like I need to replace the switch. After doing research I found out that many Hondas of the same model and years 2003-2009 experienced the same issues which leads me to believe their might be a manufacturing default.
PASSENGER AND BOTH REAR WINDOWS FAILED AT THE SAME TIME. NO SWITCH ON ANY DOOR (INCLUDING THE DRIVER'S SIDE) WILL RAISE OR LOWER THE WINDOWS. WHEN THE SWITCHES ARE DEPRESSED, A CLICKING SOUND IS MADE.
Engine
Reports naming the engine itself — including stalling, misfires, oil consumption, cooling and internal engine components.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, there was an abnormal metal-on-metal grinding sound coming from under the floorboards. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to start. The contact had the vehicle towed to the residence. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 280,000.
ACCORDING TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP I AM HAVING POWER STEERING ISSUES RELATED TO THE HOSE GETTING TOO HOT AND ERODING CAUSING MY CAR TO START BURNING UNDER THE HOOD CAUSING NOT ONLY A BURNING SMELL BUT ALSO VISIBLE MELTING TO AREAS OF MY VEHICLE BOTH UNDER THE HOOD AND AREAS ON THE PASSAGE SIDE OF MY VEHICLE NEAR THE WINDSHIELD. I AM LUCKY MY CAR DID NOT SET IN FIRE WHILE DRIVING AROUND WITH MY 7 YEAR OLD IN THE CAR WITH ME. ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THE ISSUE HAD GONE UNDIAGNOSED FOR SEVERAL WEEKS ALTHOUGH I HAD BEEN ATTEMPTING TO FIND THE SOURCE OF THE ISSUE.
Powertrain (other)
Powertrain reports that are not specifically the engine or transmission — driveshafts, axles, transfer cases and differentials.
From owner reports, verbatim

Driver assistance
Reports naming forward-collision avoidance, lane keeping, back-over prevention, cruise control and related electronic driver-assistance systems.
From owner reports, verbatim
I was driving up a hill got to the stop light which red . And then light turned green i went to take off i heard a big bang as i began to accelerate my vehicle began to drift backwards into traffic I put my hazard on one grabbed the emergency brake. I then was able to have some people punch mi vehicle into a parking space until a tow truck came . Here if goes my drivering axle broke in half and my CV joint broke which my transmission fell.
I FILED A RECALL CLAIM WITH AMERICAN HONDA. THE CASE NUMBER IS 11536174. THIS WAS FOR A RECALL ON THE AIRBAGS. ALSO, THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION STALLS AND DECELERATES WHEN GETTING ABOVE 25 RPM. AMERICAN HONDA SAID THIS ISSUE WAS A RECALL BUT APPEARED TO BE "FIXED" A FEW YEARS AGO. BUT SINCE THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM, I WAS ASSURED IT WOULD BE FIXED. JASON, AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME IT WOULD BE "TAKEN CARE OF" BUT THEN, TRIED TO BILL ME $150 FOR "DIAGNOSTIC" FEES PLUS THEN TOLD THE PARTS AND LABOR WOULD BE AN ADDITIONAL $800.WE WERE GIVEN A RENTAL CAR. ABOUT AN HOUR AN 20 MINUTES AFTER DROPPING OFF THE CAR, WE WERE CALLED TO SAY THE CAR WAS READY. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WAS DONE. THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT WAS STILL LOCKED. THEY WOULD HAVE HAD TO UNLOCK IT TO MAKE THE AIRBAG REPAIR. AMERICAN HONDA TOLD ME THE ENTIRE CANISTER IN THE AIR BAG AREA HAD TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS NEW AIR BAGS INSTALLED. MISLTIN HONDA SCREWED US! THEY ALSO SAID THESE 2 REPAIRS WOULD TAKE 6 HOURS. THEY FRAUDULENLY BILLED AMERICAN HONDA FOR 6 HOURS AND DID NOTHING! THEY WERE INSTRUCTED TO PROVIDE PROOF OF THE OLD PARTS TO SHOW ANYTHING WAS DONE! MY CAR REMAINS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, POTENTIALLY CAUSING THE AIRBAGS TO NOT DEPLOY AND THE TRANSMISSION TO STALL, CAUSING A CRASH! I'D LIKE MY SERVICE TO BE TAKEN CARE OF BY HONDA IN MANTECA, PLEASE. MISSION ALSO BILLED AMERICAN HONDA FOR OUR RENTAL. THERE WAS ALSO A RECALL ON SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE GAS PEDAL..A PART OR COMPUTER ISSUE.
Visibility
Reports naming windshields, glass, wipers, defrosters and mirrors.

MALFUNCTIONING PARTS
Tires & wheels
Reports naming tires, wheels, hubs, or the tire-pressure monitoring system.
From owner reports, verbatim
It's wearing the tires down to the the wires on the back and the front
While driving home from work at highway speeds in less than 1 minute I went from Total normal Driving Experience to feeling like I had a vibration likely a flat. Luckily it was the back tire so I was able to safely steer off the highway. Upon inspecting the tire it was completely gone! Only minimal sidewall attached to the rim on both inside and outside of the wheel. The sidewall failed approximately 1 in Above the Rim lip. All the way around on both sides. This is on a general gmax as-05 215/50/ ZR 17 purchased in 2021 from tirerack.com. these tires are used seasonally in addition to winter tires so they have minimal miles for being a little over 2 years old. I also recently had the car New York State inspected in the last 30 days. upon reaching out to Tire Rack I learned there was a substantial recall of almost 100,000 continental and general brand tires that were " over cured". This tire is not on the list but did exactly what the description of the recalled tires had done. I do not feel safe traveling on the remaining tires and I feel other people could be in danger of this happening to this model Tire. I just want to keep myself and other safe and feel like I'm going to get stonewalled with a retailer on warranty. Also want to keep others from potential harm as this had happened on my front wheel in the middle of rush hour traffic it could have been disastrous and deadly! Up until this I loved these tires they were sporty, great handling, quiet and wearing very evenly and seem to be long-lasting so far. I hope Continental/general does the right thing by adding this tire to the recall list. Also this car was recently New York State inspected less than 30 days ago there is ample tread and the tires have been diligently rotated and they are only on the car for 7 months at a time as I have a set of General winter tires that I switch between seasonally.
Body & structure
Reports naming the vehicle structure, frame, body panels, doors, hood and trim.
From owner reports, verbatim
I BOUGHT A USED VEHICLE FROM ALOHA MOTOR GROUPS INC. ON FEB. 28, 2020. I WAS NEVER TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SALVAGED. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE SENDING MY TITLE AND EVERYTHING OUT. I HADN'T RECEIVED ANYTHING AS OF AUGUST 28, 2020, SO I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY PULLED OUT MY TITLE, ATTACHED TO SOMEONE ELSE'S PAPERWORK, AND REALIZED THAT THE SALVAGE INSPECTION WAS NEVER CLEARED. SO, NOW I AM STUCK WITH THEM NOT HAVING ANY EXPLANATION OR MEANS OF FIXING THIS ISSUE. THEY ARE DENYING THEIR INVOLVEMENT AND ARE REFUSING TO HAVE A NEW MARYLAND SAFETY INSPECTION DONE AFTER THE SALVAGE INSPECTION IS COMPLETED EVEN THOUGH THEY FAILED TO PROVIDE A PROPER INSPECTION AND TITLE FOR OVER 6 MONTHS.
I BOUGHT A CAR & AFTER DRIVING IT, I NOTICED & STARTED TO HEAR/ FEEL STRANGE NOISES. I DECIDED TO HAVE THE CAR INSPECTED & I FOUND OUT THAT THE CAR HAD A SIGNIFICANT FRONT-END COLLISION & THAT THE HONDA HAD BEEN PARTIALLY REPAIRED & NOT FIXED PROPERLY. THE INSPECTORS STATED THAT THE CAR'S ACCIDENT WAS NOT REPORTED TO DMV AS IT SHOULD BE & THAT IS WAS FIXED UNDER THE TABLE, AS A SIDE JOB. THE CAR DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THE CAR HAD A CLEAN TITLE, HOWEVER THE TITLE WAS NEVER IN THE DEALERSHIPS NAME & INSTEAD IN THE PRIVATE OWNER'S NAME STILL. THE DAMAGE FOUND ON THE CAR ARE SIGNIFICANT & COULD HAVE CAUSED MY FAMILY OR I SERIOUS INJURY, IF WE GOT INTO A WRECK. THE DAMAGE FOUND ON THE CAR WHICH WAS NOT REPAIRED PROPERLY ARE; SIGNIFICANT FRONT-END DAMAGE, A BUCKLED RIGHT FRAME RAIL, UPPER MOTOR MOUNT IS BROKEN, A BROKEN SEAM SEAL (WHICH IS FRESHLY BROKEN), THERE ARE BUCKLES ON THE UPPER APRON AND THE WELDS ON THE RADIATOR SUPPORT WERE NOT WELDED PROPERLY OR PAINTED & WAS COVERED UP BY THE FRESH SEAM SEAL. THERE IS ALSO THE SAME BENT REBAR SUPPORT ON THERE FROM THE DAMAGED WRECK AND WAS RATTLED CANNED IN AN ATTEMPT TO COVER IT UP. I WAS TOLD IT IS A FRESH REPAIR AS THE BUMPER, RADIATOR & RADIATOR SUPPORT, AC CONDENSER & FAN SHROUDS ARE BRAND NEW.THE DEALERSHIP INSINUATED THAT THEY DO NOT INSPECT THE CARS AND THAT THEY JUST SELL THEM RIGHT BACK(WHICH IS WEIRD, WHY BUY CARS AND SELL THEM, UNLESS THERE IS PROFIT)?. I THEN CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED & HOW THEY HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY AS A BUSINESS AND DEALERSHIP TO SELL SAFE CARS UNDER THE OREGON LEMON LAW ACT & FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION ACT (SECTION 5). I HAVE NOW ASKED FOR THEIR BUSINESS LICENSE 2 TIMES & THEY WILL NOT SEND IT TO ME. THEY ARE ALSO REFUSING TO GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK & ONLY OFFERED A PARTIAL REFUND, FOR A CAR THAT THEY SOLD KNOWING IT WAS UNSAFE, WITH UNSAFE REPAIRS & NOT REPORTING AN ACCIDENT.
Exterior lighting
Reports naming headlights, tail lights, turn signals and other exterior lighting.
From owner reports, verbatim
I ENTERED MY CAR'S VIN BUT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. I FREQUENTLY SEE CARS DRIVING AT DUSK OR AT NIGHT WITH NO LIGHTS ON. THEIR DRLS AUTOMATICALLY COME ON AND THE DASH LIGHTS ARE AUTOMATICALLY LIT SO THEY THINK THEY ARE OK, BUT THERE ARE NO LIGHTS ON THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE AND OFTEN THE DRLS AREN'T AS BRIGHT AS HEADLIGHTS. IT'S A CONDITION THAT DRIVERS DON'T REALIZE NEEDS ADDRESSING AND IS DANGEROUS FOR MANY REASONS.
I HAVE HAD THE AIRBAGS CHECKED AND REPLACED AT BRANDON HONDA AND I GOT AN AIRBAG LIGHT THAT WON'T GO OFF AND AM WORRIED ABOUT MAYBE SIDE AIRBAG PROBLEMS AND WON'T GET A CALL BACK FROM BRANDON HONDA IN BIRMINGHAM ALABAMA TO GET IT CHECKED OUT OR REPAIRED THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN OPERATION. *TR
Transmission
Reports naming the automatic or manual transmission, including shifting behaviour, shudder, slipping and transmission control modules.
From owner reports, verbatim
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO RICK ROUSH HONDA (3157 MEDINA RD, MEDINA, OH 44256, (330) 725-3999) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 80 MPH THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR AND THE SPEED WOULD NOT DECREASE. THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE GEAR TO D3 IN ORDER TO LOWER THE SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
Other / unspecified
Reports whose component NHTSA recorded as unknown, or that do not map to one of the categories above.
From owner reports, verbatim
VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING 45 MPH ON FIRESTONE, AFFINITY TIRES WITH LESS THEN 20,000 MILES ON THEM. WHILE TRAVELING ON DRY, GOOD PAVEMENT THE RIGHT REAR TIRE EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE BLOWOUT CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO TURN VIOLENTLY TO THE LEFT AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN A BAR DITCH. THE TIRE WAS INTACT, BUT HAD CRAWLED OFF THE RIM. TIRE PRESSURE WAS CHECKED TWO DAYS PRIOR AND WAS WELL WITHIN PROPER LIMITS OF THE REQUIRED PSI. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AS A RESULT OF THE BLOWOUT AND CRASH..
WHEN NEARING A STOP AND TRYING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN, IT WILL MAKE A SOUND... THEN KEEPS GOING BEFORE ACTUALLY STOPPING... INCREASING RISK OF HITTING CAR IN FRONT. ALSO WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY, CAR WILL WANT TO KIND OF STALL OUT DIE. MAYBE A SHORT CIRCUIT OR SOMETHING THAT IS DEFECTIVE.
Interior & seats
Reports naming seats, latches, locks, linkages and interior fittings.
From owner reports, verbatim
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS INSIDE THE VEHICLE, BOTH THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS WOULD NOT UNLOCK ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BURNS HONDA (325 RT. 73 N., MARLTON, NJ) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAT TRACK AND CLIPS WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
ON SATURDAY 3/8/2014, I WAS DRIVING MY MOM TO A LOCAL NEARBY LOWE'S. SHE WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT WITH THE SEAT WARMER ON. SHE MENTIONED THAT THE SEAT WAS REALLY HOT & SHE THEN TURNED THE SEAT WARMER OFF. AFTER WE GOT HOME & SHE GOT OUT OF THE CAR, I NOTICED THAT PART OF MY PASSENGER LEATHER SEAT WAS MELTED. *TR
Seat belts
Reports naming seat belts, buckles, retractors and pretensioners.
From owner reports, verbatim
The left passenger seatbelt will not retract - supposed to be a lifetime warranty and as a result airbag indicator light is on, so I take it to the dealer and they tell me seatbelts are on back order and they said it could be months or even years before I get a seatbelt and there is no ETA for it to arrive. So now, I have to drive the vehicle with no seatbelt and non-working airbags risking tickets or worse loss of life. This is unacceptable. What is the point of a lifetime warranty .
AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. 71-10 PERMANENT FAULT CODE; OPEN CIRCUIT IN DRIVERS SEAT POSITION SENSOR. AIR BAG SYSTEM IS DISABLED BECAUSE OF THIS.
Suspension
Reports naming suspension components — springs, struts, shocks, control arms and related hardware.
From owner reports, verbatim
Everything in the front end is bad and the back end
TOLD BY DEALER THAT FRONT CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS WERE TORN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT $550.00. RESEARCHING ON INTERNET HAS REVEALED THAT THERE IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH "COMPLIANCE BUSHINGS" ON THESE CARS. CONTACTED HONDA CASE #[XXX]. THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL. I BELIEVE THEY ARE IGNORING A PROBLEM THAT COULD AFFECT STEERING AND THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO REPAIR THIS DEFECT. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
Heating & air conditioning
Reports naming the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system.
From owner reports, verbatim
I WAS DRIVING DOWN MY ROAD AND NOTICE MY CAR KEEPS STALLING BETWEEN 3RD AND 4TH GEAR, IF I HIT THE BRAKE IT STOPS AND I CAN GO ON. I TOOK IT FOR RECALL LAST YEAR AND IT STARTED DOING BETTER BUT LAST MONTH IT IS STALLING AND JERKING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 30-45. IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. ALSO MY DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WHEN I TRY TO ROLL IT UP WITHOUT HOLDING THE BUTTON IT WILL GO ALL THE WAY UP AND THEN ROLL BACK DOWN. I ALSO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER BLOWING HOT AIR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE IF I TURN IT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO WHERE IT SAYS LO AND A FEW MINUTES LATER TURN IT UP TO WHAT IT IS SET ON THEN IT WILL BLOW CORRECTLY FOR A DAY OR TWO,SOMETIMES A COUPLE OF WEEKS BUT HAVING TO KEEP DOING THIS DEFEATS HAVING CLIMATE CONTROL OPTION. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ACCORD. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR MAINTENANCE AND A LEAK IN THE AIR CONDITIONER UNIT WAS FOUND. SHE ARRANGED AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT A PEBBLE COULD HAVE CAUSED THE HOLE IN THE COMPRESSOR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT HER EXPENSE. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, BUT WAS NOT PROVIDED WITH ANY ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 29,000. UPDATED 6/19/10 *CN UPDATED 07/22/10*JB

Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.
From owner reports, verbatim
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY CUT OFF WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR TO THE NEAREST AUTOZONE AND HAD A DIAGNOSTIC REPORT DONE. REPORT CAME BACK SAYING FUEL SCREEN IS JAMMED. ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THE NEXT MORNING THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT AGAIN CAME ON. I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO A AUTO SERVICE REPAIR PLACE AND THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. IT CAME BACK SAYING FUEL SCREEN IS JAMMED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT IT JUST NEEDS TO BE CLEANED . I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE NEXT DAY. THE NEXT MORNING, ON STARTING THE CAR, THE SERVICE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON. I WENT TO MY APPOINTMENT AND THE MECHANIC SAID, SOME CARS DO THAT AND AFTER DRIVING A WHILE, IT MAY NOT COME BACK ON. THE LIGHT HAS NOT COME BACK ON SINCE NOR HAS THE CAR STALLED OUT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND VSA LIGHT CAME ON, THE CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN STEPPED ON GAS PEDAL NO RESPONSE, NO POWER, AND COULD NOT GO OVER 20 MPH. TOOK CAR TO MY REPAIR SHOP, THEY TOLD ME THAT IT IS A GLITCH IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR. ONCE THEY CLEARED THE CODE FROM THE COMPUTER THE CAR RAN FINE, THEY TOLD ME IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN, AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE SENSOR. *TR
