What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2007 Honda Odyssey, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Each component in detail
What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words
Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
When I stop at the red light with my brake pressed, all in a sudden the brake drop lower and the vehicle move forward. When I look up the safety recalls on my type of vehicle, there is a brake master cylinder safety recall in 2010. However, when I look up my VIN, my vehicle is not on that list. Based on the problem, it looks like my batch of Odyssey also has this safety recall issue. Probably Honda hide it to minimize the recall repair cost. I am the first owner and the brake master cylinder has never been replaced and no recall notice is being sent to me. Please help to investigate it. I will pay out of pocket to fix this issue first because I almost died with this hidden uninformed safety issue until the problem comes up now.
I took this car for a test drive. The dealer said they had repaired a number of issues such as front end work, power steering hoses, and power steering fluid. They said it had passed a safety inspection. The dealer handed me a list of all the issues with the vehicle which they chose not to repair, which include: 1) vehicle driver door lock/unlock doesn't work 2) Driver sliding door doesn't work 3) beeping when turning on power sliding doors (Doesn't beep if you have it off), tpms light is on (needs sensors maybe? dont know), 4) rear wiper inop Those are direct quotes -- however, on the test drive I found several other issues which were alarming. 1) A bad wheel bearing in the right rear wheel was extremely loud, sounding like an airplane taking off on the highway, this was not mentioned in any way before test driving. 2) The brakes are weak and the rotors warped, pulsating during braking 3) The radio did not work and gave an "Error" code 4) the seat belts have very dark markings on them either from wear or mold 5) missing rear passenger side seat 6) broken rear ventilation (blower motor likely) I thought I should report this as it was not mentioned and upon checking online this is a serious safety issue. I am surprised they passed it. [XXX] This vehicle is STILL FOR SALE. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Body & structure
Reports naming the vehicle structure, frame, body panels, doors, hood and trim.
From owner reports, verbatim
I am reporting a safety issue with my 2007 Honda Odyssey. The left power sliding door latch assembly has failed, causing the sliding door to open while driving. The door does not consistently register as securely closed, and the vehicle’s alarm activates continuously, which has made the vehicle inoperable. This condition presents a serious safety hazard to the driver and passengers because the door cannot be relied upon to remain securely latched during normal operation. The issue has been ongoing for approximately six months and has progressively worsened. The failure appears to involve the door latch assembly responsible for securing the door and signaling that it is properly closed. I contacted the manufacturer, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., and requested assistance due to the safety nature of this issue. My request was declined unless I first obtain a diagnostic at my own expense, despite the condition being clearly identifiable and involving a critical safety component. I am requesting that this issue be documented and reviewed as a potential safety defect involving the sliding door latch system. The vehicle is located in New Jersey and is currently not in use due to this safety condition.
I was parked at Walmart and got groceries came out opened my sliding door and it fell off the hinges due to bad hardware says it will cost 2500 to fix wtf. Then a month later the other fell off also why when there are so many other reports of this happening is there not a recall already or at least an investigation. I mean come on you don't even have an option for reporting sliding door falling off
Steering
Reports naming the steering system — racks, columns, power-steering assist and steering linkage.
From owner reports, verbatim
Ran a code tester and everything from recalls are popping up
Problem is the bolt that holds serpentine belt tensioner on has broken on twice in the last year. Why I am reporting this because the last time it broke I almost had a head on collision on 2 lane road belt broke as I was going around turn lost control of my steering barley missing the on coming vehicle and ditch on opposite side of rode. Ps this must have happen before I bought the vehicle because the bolt I removed that broke off was numeber 12 strength which could not find on internet to replace the bolt honda uses is a #10 strength.
Engine
Reports naming the engine itself — including stalling, misfires, oil consumption, cooling and internal engine components.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2007 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving 45-65 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and waited for two hours. The contact then continued driving 20-25 MPH. The contact stated that the VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) and TPMS warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to Auto Zone, where it was diagnosed with battery voltage, brake sensor, ECM and PCM failures. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 238,133.
Engine mounts need to be replaced and this is a known issue that Honda has not recognized to take care of the issue. The issue is caused by the vehicle going in and out of ECO mode. This causes wear on the motor mounts which now creates a safety hazard of the engine vibrating and causing more issues. Honda should be replacing these as a recall.
Driver assistance
Reports naming forward-collision avoidance, lane keeping, back-over prevention, cruise control and related electronic driver-assistance systems.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2007 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle unexpectedly braked hard. The contact stated that the failure was a recurring failure. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V500000 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
TWO SEPARATE INSTANCES HAVE OCCURRED, BOTH AT SLOW SPEEDS, AROUND 5 MPH, MY VAN SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, AND AFTER PUTTING IT IN NEUTRAL AND PUNCHING THE PEDAL DOWN, IT RETURNED TO NORMAL RPMS. A LITTLE UNSETTLING, ESPECIALLY IF THE DRIVER PANICS.

2002 HONDA ODYSSEY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FAULTY TRANSMISSION IN VEHICLE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SHE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, WHEN SUDDENLY, IT FELT AS THOUGH THE VEHICLE HAD JERKED OUT OF GEAR OR IF THE BRAKE HAD BEEN APPLIED. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE RECENTLY DROVE THE VEHICLE, AND THE TCS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STARTED JERKING AGAIN.
I NOTICED THE VIBRATION ON OUR HONDA ODYSSEY ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. THEN A MONTH AGO, HAD OUR PREPAID SERVICE DONE AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE VIBRATION AND THEY SAID IT'S NORMAL. THEN AFTER THAT I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE VIBRATION AND THAT THE VAN NEEDED A COMPUTER UPDATE. SO HAD THAT DONE 3 DAYS AGO (6/27/11) AND STILL VIBRATED. BROUGHT IT BACK AGAIN TODAY (6/30/11), TOLD THEM IT NEEDED A NEW TORQUE CONVERTER AND IF THEY CAN CHECK THE MOTOR MOUNTS AND THEY SAID IT NEEDED NEW TIRES AND A COMPUTER UPDATE AGAIN TO FIX THE PROBLEM. SO, DID THAT AND STILL HAD THE VIBRATION ISSUE. I AM SO FRUSTRATED AND ANGRY. SO I BROUGHT IT BACK AFTER DRIVING IT FOR ABOUT 1 MILE AND TOLD THEM AGAIN, THAT IT'S NOT FIXED. SO NOW I'M SEEKING SOME SORT OF ASSISTANCE AND COMPENSATION FOR ALL THE TIME AND MONEY WASTED..THANKS *TR
