Data refreshed
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks. Every record below is an owner-reported complaint about the 2006 Honda Ridgeline submitted to NHTSA — not a confirmed defect, not a recall and not a manufacturer bulletin. 15 reports on file name it.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

A recall on rear frame rust compromised with gas tank strapping
My subframe and back of my truck frame rusted so bad gas tank is close to falling off have a strap holding under it but it’s probably not going to help with a rust hole in the frame
Please see the recall info here: 2006 Honda Ridgeline Recall Item Affected: STRUCTUREDate Announced: 06/16/2022Description of Recall:Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2006-2014 Ridgeline vehicles that were sold, or ever registered in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington D.C., and Wisconsin. An accumulation of road salt may cause the frame mounting surface, where the fuel tank mounting bands are attached, to corrode and possibly detach the fuel tank, which can result in a fuel leak.Action Need To Fix It:Dealers will inspect and repair the rear frame, as necessary, free of charge. Depending on the extent of any corrosion damage, Honda may offer to repurchase the vehicle. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 1, 2022. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. We took my son's vehicle to our local Honda dealership for the recall repair. They replaced 2 bolts that secure the fuel tank straps to the frame. Then sent us away with an invoice saying the vehicle is not safe to drive due to severely rusted fuel tank straps. I have emailed and called American Honda many times to ask why this is not covered by the recall and requesting a buy back. They have only responded by saying the recall repairs were made. They won't put anything in writing explaining why the severely corroded fuel tank straps that are a safety issue per their dealership are not related to the recall.
My vehicle was recalled because corrosion can form on the rear frame due to accumulation of road de-icing agents mixed with mud and dirt. The fuel tank, which is mounted to the rear frame, can become unsecured as the rear frame deteriorates from corrosion. An unsecured fuel tank may result in a fuel leak and an increased risk of fire in the presence of an ignition source. Loud noises from the rear of the vehicle can alert you in the event the fuel tank becomes unsecured. I called to make an appointment for the recall on [XXX] and it was dropped of at Williams Honda in Traverse City MI the next day for nearest appointment which was [XXX}. I was notified by Williams Honda on [XXX] that my vehicle failed the inspection and could not be fixed. Williams Honda told me to expect a call from Honda. I never did until I called a week later. I tried to get a loaner vehicle or rental since mine could not be repaired. Honda advised that Williams needed to arrange it and Williams advised that it needed to be approved by Honda. This went back an forth for weeks until Honda advised that I could have a rental if I drove to Williams 2 hours from my house. Honda suggested that I purchase a rental vehicle with my own money and submit for reimbursement with the hopes that I would be made whole. It is now [XXX] and they still have refused to make reasonable accommodations for a rental vehicle and they have not fixed my vehicle. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I would be willing to discuss this matter in greater detail over the phone [XXX] ). There is currently a rust recall for vehicles registered in states surrounding me, but North Carolina, Tennessee is not included. The recall is from damage by salt to rusting frame and rocker panels. Mine was originally registered in Western NC and currently registered in north east TN. Both of these areas use salt on the roads and my Ridgeline is rusting in the rocker panels and underneath. This is a known issue but why would you allow Honda to not cover vehicles in neighboring states to those covered, i.e. Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia. Hoping you will act on this since you know it's a problem with states using salt and this Honda is starting to rust rapidly with no warning.
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated while driving at various speeds the accelerator pedal had become stuck causing the engine to stall. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the fuel relay was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Also, the key would not open the front driver side door and the anti-theft alarm continued to erroneously activate. The cause of the failure was not determined. Also, while operating the vehicle the front headlights were extremely dem. While inspecting the lights smoke and charring was present inside both the driver side and passenger side headlight assemblies. The cause of the failures was not determined. The failure mileage was 199,000.
