Owner-reported complaints naming the driver-assistance system, filed with NHTSA
Data refreshed
Driver assistance reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Crash reported
While driving with the cruise control set at 52mph, I was coming to a known left curve with a stop sign four way intersection that follows it (I drive this route at least 50% of the time whenever leaving my home). I hit the 'Cancel' button to stop the cruise control as I came to the curve, and there was no response. I hit the brakes and again there was no response. At that point I prepared for a wreck because I knew the curve was tight, followed by that intersection's stop sign, and I was almost upon the curve. Continuing to try to apply brakes and getting no response, I could not hold the curve of the road and left the roadway to the right side. I narrowly avoided a lightpole, and then I was finally at the ditch of the crossroad already mentioned. The truck struck the ditch embankment facing me and likely launched airborn at that point, going across the first lane of the crossroad. After about the width of that lane, it appears that's when the front suspension landed, gouging the asphalt and deploying the airbag on me at that point. This seems to be when the braking system finally responded as I started to slow down some, as it bounced and jerked across the remaining lanes, leaving skid marks on that part of the road. I steered it between two signs on the far side, still barely under control but it finally slowing down into the 20s or so, where I had control and brought it to a stop. The vehicle had no known issues or ODBII scan codes prior to this incident. *After the incident*, there was an ABS system fault code present, and it also showed an ABS fault message on the vehicle information screen after the incident. I believe this could be related to the cruise control malfunction, as I know that the ABS system is often involved in modern cruise control systems to control hill descent speeds. The road section just prior to where I attempted to turn off the cruise control was on a slight hill descent, but I don't know if that was related to what happened to me.

Four months after warranty expiration, the back up camera began malfunctioning - either not working at all (black screen when in reverse) or camera image stuck on "fish eye". The wiring harness between body and tailgate is clearly frayed, with copper wires showing some as severed and some as lacking insulation. Worried about backing up into/over pedestrian or bicycle.

Backup camera intermittently worked for several weeks (working, black screen with yellow guides, radio instead of camera on center display). This was dependent on opening/closing tailgate. now it has stopped working completely for the last few months. From online research this appears to be a known wiring harness/broken wire issue.

Rear backup camera does not work, not a fuse issue. As we are seniors and have come to rely on camera while backing up, small children (our grandchildren) and pedestrians (while shopping) are at risk. Dangerous safety risk. We should not have to pay for this repair which I consider a safety issue on such a new vehicle.

I have experienced times when the vehicle brakes automatically for no apparent reason. This has created traffic safety issues--the potential to cause a rear collision--and I've had to override the braking by mashing the accelerator.

About 5-8% of the time when I engage the cruise control, it will advance an additional 3-4 mph all by it self. This almost caused an accident on one occasion. I had it into the dealers for repair and they said it was normal. I never had a car that did this before.

Vehicle had had a rodent due to the wires long story short through the next day I got a light and things were not driving right and I got it to the dealer thank God. Cost me roughly 250 to 300 to have it repaired on my own dime because they said a rodent chewed The wire. I see and hear from other Honda owners that is a major problem with soy based wires. I do not consider an animal a natural act. It's a pest therefore you child-proof that you do not leave wires on the bottom open to areas that a animal can get to The chew. I feel Honda should be looked at since they know of this problem they saw hot and deterrent capacity type tape to deter rodents. How do I not know one of those components is not going to be something that is life limb or eyesight next time and that one next little wire that that road and choose to is going to cause an accident? Please address thank you.

BACKUP CAMERA WHICH IS A MANDATORY SAFTEY FEATURE STOPPED WORKING. WIRING HARNESS WHERE IT ENTERS THE TAILGATE WAS PINCHED AND WIRES SEVERED. THIS WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. DEALER STATED THERE IS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN TO ROUTE THE WIRING HARNESS DIFFERENTLY TO MINIMIZE THIS ISSUE. THERE ARE PLENTY OF COMPLAINTS ON THE HONDA RIDGELINE FORUMS OF BACKUP CAMERAS FAILING DUE TO WIRING HARNESS ISSUE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AS I BELIEVE HONDA SHOULD BE OFFERING AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE WIRING HARNESS AS THIS IS A MANDATORY SAFETY FEATURE THAT IS NOT RELIABLE.

HONDA RIDGELINE, 2019, HONDA SENSING, WAS TURNING INTO A PARKING SPOT IN FRONT OF A BLDG, 1/2 WAY IN, THE SENSING, SENSED SOMETHING? THE BIG YELLOW LIGHT COMES ON THE DASH WITH THE WORDS "BRAKE", TRUCK COMES TO A COMPLETE HALT, I WAS SLIGHTLY JERKED FORWARD, THE TRUCK WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP, 1/2 IN 1/2 OUT OR PARKING SPOT, DIAGONALLY, MY HANDS ON THE WHEEL, I THEN JUST LIGHTLY TOUCHED THE GAS PETAL TO MOVE FORWARD AND PARK, BUT THE TRUCK RESUMED TO FULL SPEED AND RAN ME INTO THE WALL, ABOUT 15 FEET IN FRONT OF ME. I COULD NOT DO ANYTHING, THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ON, THE GAS PEDAL WAS NOT FLOORED, THE COMPUTER JUST TOLD IT TO RESUME THE SPEED. THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED, MY HANDS WERE HURT...
