2019 Honda Ridgeline Problems

The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

My wife and I had decided to empty our storage unit, so on Memorial Day we began moving everything into the garage. After five or six trips Honda, I pulled the car up beside the RV and close to the house for what turned out to be the last load. I unloaded my bicycle and nearly everything else, leaving only a few small items, and then removed the massage table from the back seat. The engine was off this entire time. That was when I noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment. At first, I thought the radiator had overheated, so I tried to open the hood, but it was too hot. I went into the garage for gloves and a fire extinguisher and tried again, but still could not get it open. Realizing the situation was getting worse and that I could not stop it there, I jumped into the car and tried to start it. To my surprise, it started immediately, and I drove it as fast as I could out to the street in front of the house. Only later did I realize that this likely saved my RV—and possibly the front of my house as well—from catching fire. We were so blessed that I was able to move the car to a safer location and no one was hurt. It was a miracle.

I have an engine failure at 99k miles. The car is in pristine condition inside out. Oil changes are done every 5k miles. Without any warning, check engine light or any indication from the car's computer, the engine just failed while driving. It sounded like there was something grinding inside the engine. The truck was towed to Honda dealer and they said I need a new engine replacement. They found metal shavings in the engine oil. The invoice indicates "Found more has bad rod knock recommend replace engine assembly"

The Transmission error continues to flash on the dash. It has now happened on four (4) occasions. Transmission was flushed and still occurs. Diagnostic Error Code P0741 stored. Torque Converter issue. Honda has extended the warranty for most of these vehicles, mine is not showing in the extension. However, it appears to meet all the specifications that it should be covered. Have it at the dealership which confirms all above. They claim Honda Corporate has to decide to extend the warranty. Talked to Honda Corporate today and they said the NHTSA has to extend the warranty, they do not decide.

While driving with the cruise control set at 52mph, I was coming to a known left curve with a stop sign four way intersection that follows it (I drive this route at least 50% of the time whenever leaving my home). I hit the 'Cancel' button to stop the cruise control as I came to the curve, and there was no response. I hit the brakes and again there was no response. At that point I prepared for a wreck because I knew the curve was tight, followed by that intersection's stop sign, and I was almost upon the curve. Continuing to try to apply brakes and getting no response, I could not hold the curve of the road and left the roadway to the right side. I narrowly avoided a lightpole, and then I was finally at the ditch of the crossroad already mentioned. The truck struck the ditch embankment facing me and likely launched airborn at that point, going across the first lane of the crossroad. After about the width of that lane, it appears that's when the front suspension landed, gouging the asphalt and deploying the airbag on me at that point. This seems to be when the braking system finally responded as I started to slow down some, as it bounced and jerked across the remaining lanes, leaving skid marks on that part of the road. I steered it between two signs on the far side, still barely under control but it finally slowing down into the 20s or so, where I had control and brought it to a stop. The vehicle had no known issues or ODBII scan codes prior to this incident. *After the incident*, there was an ABS system fault code present, and it also showed an ABS fault message on the vehicle information screen after the incident. I believe this could be related to the cruise control malfunction, as I know that the ABS system is often involved in modern cruise control systems to control hill descent speeds. The road section just prior to where I attempted to turn off the cruise control was on a slight hill descent, but I don't know if that was related to what happened to me.

I just purchased a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. When driving I noticed the hood vibrating or shaking. I checked to ensure it was closed all the way, and it was. When I did research, I found there is a safety recall for this exact issue, and the year, make and model of my truck falls into the affected years. However, when I look up my VIN, it does not comeback with the recall authorization. Please advise. The recall number is: 21V932

I currently have the following recalls; tailgate harness, hood latch striker, timing belt and fuel pump. I have contacted my local dealer and I am being told that there are no parts.

A few weeks after I purchased a new 2019 Ridgeline I’ve noticed that brake pedal did not feel right. First what I noticed sometimes when I go to start the car the brake pedal is very hard, I have not experienced that with any other car. Then I noticed that when I’m on the light standing with the car running brake pedal sinks all the way to the bottom. Then I have to press the brake a few times for it to go back to normal hight. I took the car to a Honda Service on 6600 N Western in n Chicago back in 2019/2020 and they tested the car I’m not sure if they were able to reproduce same issues but they told me that the brake works fine. I got the car back, after I noticed when pressing brake there is a clicking sound coming from the brake pedal area not all the times sometimes, also noticed that sometimes it takes more pressure to apply to the brake in order for car to stop. At that time I looked online and I wasn’t able to find anybody reporting same issues. Now when I go online on Honda forums I see more people complaining about same or similar issues. I still own the car with only 38000 miles on it and still have same brake issues with it.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Driver side Side View Mirror - No, I had to have it replaced and did not get it back. Please see recalls related to this issue for years 2020 thru 2021 for Honda Pilots, Passports, Ridgelines, and Odysseys. To me it seems they need to go back one more year. Same problem/issue as reported in these recalls. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The mirror (glass part, not the whole frame) was vibrating substantially when driving. Mabe it very difficult to have a clear view out that mirror. Difficult to see here other vehicles where in that mirror. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, dealer saw problem and agreed it was a problem. They replaced it. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not that I am aware of. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No.

Driving on the freeway the sun roof exploded shattering the glass unexpectedly. There was no rock or other outside projectile that hit the glass since I had a kayak above the glass on a roof rack pretty much covering most of the glass. I was able to close the shade door inside before the glass came down on us. I found out that this has happened on other Honda vehicles and there is a class action suit which I don't know much about. My insurance company will replace it but will cost me my $500 deductible.

The driver seat on my 2019 Ridgeline I believe is a safety hazard (potentially the passenger also). When braking they move forward with a thud. The same for speeding up as there is a noticeable thud. Dealer states it is the Frame Rail. In 2018 there was a recall for very similar issue for Honda Pilot's (same seat and frame) due to the seat dislodging when in a accident. I believe this same thing will happen to me (and others possibly) as the problem seems to be getting worse and the dealer that sold me the car a few weeks ago says there are no recalls from Honda on this. 2019 HONDA RIDGELINE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO ISSUES WITH THE TAILGATE.

i was driving abut 25 miles per hour on [XXX] . i split second my car start shake and rapidly stop . All electronic messages were displayed . My all safety fixtures stop working included air bags. I almost hit other car . Other cars start honk on me . i was able to move slowly to dealer about 5 miles per hour . distance was only half of mile . After diagnostic i was inform my crankshaft is bad . i received bill for 3832.57 $. i contacted Honda with concern about this safety problem specially i learned from dealer mechanic there is ongoing problem with this engine on Pilots Ridgelines and Odysseys models . Honda opened case Case #: [XXX]. i had safety concerns specially i was towing boat few days before. On highway speeds this could have catastrophic consequences for me my family and other people. i offered Honda old parts for investigation and determination of root cost of this problem. Honda wasn't interested this at all. They was interested how many times i serviced vehicle in this dealer . Honda knew about this ongoing problem . THE ISSUE SEEMED LINED TO THE CLOCK SPRING. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT JOE MORGAN HONDA IN MONROE, OH ON 8/29/20 FOR 8/31/20. JOE MORGAN HONDA CONFIRMED THAT THE ISSUE WAS THE CLOCK SPRING AKA CABLE REEL. THE INVOICE IS ATTACHED. JOE MORGAN HONDA EXPLAINED THAT IF I HAD LET THE ISSUE GO LONGER, THE NOISE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN WORSE. EVENTUALLY THE STEERING WHEEL BUTTONS AND HORN WOULD LOSE POWER, AS WELL AS THE STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG. THIS IS WHERE THE MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE COMES INTO PLAY. JOE MORGAN HONDA CONTACTED THE TECH LINE UPON CONFIRMING THE ISSUE. THIS HAS HAPPENED, AND IS HAPPENING ON OTHER RIDGELINES. HONDA IS TELLING CUSTOMERS THIS IS NORMAL. Rear seat belt behind passenger side (right) locks in place and will not move. To remedy this issue the belt needs to be unlatched and returned to the unused position. I cannot make the belt lock in place. I returned the vehicle to my dealer and reported the problem. They could find nothing wrong. This has reoccurred occasionally since I bought the truck. Our remedy is to not use that seat.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while driving approximately at 50 mph, the vehicle crashed into a second vehicle causing severe damage to the front end. During the crash, the front driver seat belt pretensioner failed and did not secure the driver causing the driver to slide down the seat during impact. The driver sustained an injured left arm and injured upper torso which required medical treatment. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 26,700. The contact stated that the vehicle was totaled during the incident.

On 5/10/25, while driving 5 warning icons came flashing on after another. 1) emissions system problem 2)VSA systems 3) Hill assist problem 4)TSA 5)Power steering system problem . This 2019 Honda Ridgeline with 49272 miles ended stalling 3 xs in the middle of traffic!! Frank Brown Honda was called and not very helpful! I’m waiting to hear on expensive warranty what can be done. I don’t have towing so stranded at my house with the car. This was scary and upsetting!! Please help if you can

2019 HONDA RIDGELINE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ISSUE WITH WHEEL ALIGNMENT. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED WITHOUT THE ADJUSTMENT MECHANISM WITHIN THE BALL JOINT CONTROL ARM. THIS PREVENTS AN ALIGNMENT FROM BEING PERFORMED. *JS

A SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION RESULTED IN A CRASH 1-08-2020 AT 6:55 AM. THIS OCCURRED WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE. WHILE BREAKING THE VEHICLE HEAD LIGHTS WENT OUT, ENGINE RPM SUDDENLY INCREASED DRAMATICALLY CAUSING VEHICLE TO STRIKE LIGHT POLE, WHICH FELL TO THE SIDE OF VEHICLE. THIS RESULTED IN TO BE DETERMINED VEHICLE AND PROPERTY DAMAGE.
