2024 Hyundai Palisade Interior & seats Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the interior system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Interior & seats reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Driver seat moves/repositions on its own after starting vehicle. The seat will move forward, fold you forward into the steering wheel then move far back and reposition to saved setting. Also, while in reverse, the seat will move back all the way and pull you away from the brake/accelerator pedals. This is a safety issue especially while the vehicle is not in park or is in motion. This vehicle has been to a dealer for repair no less than 6 times for this issue. It is an intermittent issue and the dealer has only witnessed it once. Since the vehicle has not issued a "code" they will not attempt to fix the safety issue. Hyundai Corp. so far has been unresponsive.

Vehicle has been at dealership since March 21, 2026 due to multiple active safety recalls and unresolved repair issues. Dealer confirmed recalls involving defective seat belt buckle assemblies that may fail to properly latch and a separate recall involving third-row occupant protection/ejection mitigation safety standards. One recall currently has no available remedy or repair solution. Vehicle has remained out of service for an excessive amount of time waiting on backordered parts and unresolved safety repairs. Manufacturer and dealership have not provided a clear repair completion timeline. Dealer communication has been poor and calls often go unanswered. I no longer feel this vehicle is safe for my family or small children due to the nature of the recalls involving seat belt safety and occupant protection during crashes or rollovers. The safety defects and inability to timely repair the vehicle have caused significant hardship while continuing to make monthly lease payments for a vehicle that cannot safely be used. Dealer and manufacturer have confirmed the recalls and repair delays.

There is a recall for the displacement of my 3rd row headrest. I have small children and are in the 3rd row daily. Also, although my 3rd row is under recall for mechanical issues, my 3rd row did malfunction and close on items in the 3rd row on 4/5/26. The sensors didn't detect that there were larger items in my vehicle and continued to close down. Also at this time, the right side wouldn't raise back up after me pushing the button multiple times. The seats not returning to an upright position with pressing the button, has happened multiple times. I never received notification that there are safety recalls on my vehicle. The reason I was given by Hyundai was that I didn't receive the notifications was because I didn't purchase my car from a Hyundai dealership. I am extremely concerned for the safety of my children in my vehicle. I tried to get the seatbelt recall repaired on 4/11/26, but the dealership didn't give me a loaner vehicle, as the Hyundai care center had instructed them to do. I called back to the same dealership today, and they were only able to give me a 4 door car ( Hyundai Sonata). This vehicle doesn't have enough seats for my children. There were no warning messages prior to the malfunction.

It requires significant force to cause the seat detection to stop folding. I’m concerned for the safety of passengers if this was accidentally engaged since easily accessible in the 3rd row.

I am concerned that there is no remedy for seat belts in 1/2 row and there is a risk of injury in the event of an accident in third row, I have two young children and feel there are no safe seating arrangements in the event of an accident and remedy identified.

My car has been at the dealership since Feb 2, 2026 and there has been no repair. When I inquire I am told there is a back order for parts. No one updates me unless I reach out. There is no help for a vehicle to drive or date when recall will be fixed.

I brought my car in to get the recall fixed for the seat belts and the emissions issue. When it was returned to me, the passenger seat was not bolted down in the front (the bolts were rolling around on the floor) and the back bolts were loose. The vehicle was returned to me with the passenger seat completely unattached at the front. When I braked, the seat slammed into my [XXX] ’s car seat. This is no longer a 'service issue'; this is a liability and safety failure involving a federal recall. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I’m writing to report a serious safety concern with my 2024 Hyundai Palisade (VIN: [XXX] ). The second-row seat belt on the passenger side does not retract or stay secure properly. It often remains loose or gets stuck when pulled, and sometimes won’t tighten back automatically. I brought my vehicle to the dealership, but they said they couldn’t replicate the issue. I recorded a video clearly showing the problem, which I am attaching to this message. This is extremely concerning to me because I have young children who sit in the second row, and I’m worried the seat belt could fail to protect them in an accident. It’s very scary as a parent to see a safety feature not working correctly in such a new vehicle. Additionally, the rear charger port doesn’t work properly — the dealer said it’s due to using a non-Hyundai phone charger, but the issue happens with multiple certified chargers and different devices. After checking online, I learned that Hyundai has an active seat belt recall (#283) for Palisade models (2020-2025), and my vehicle seems to fall within the affected range. I am requesting a case number and for this issue to be investigated under that recall and warranty coverage. Please confirm receipt of this message and let me know how to send or upload the video evidence for your review. I’d also like a follow-up from a regional case manager, as this is a potential safety defect involving children. Thank you for your attention and for helping ensure my family’s safety. The driver seat will move without any input from the driver, it will move forward and also tilt as far forward as possible smashing the driver in the seat. It will do this when parked after starting the vehicle and it has also done it while DRIVING which impedded my ability to control the vehicle. This situation is incredibly dangerous but when I've taken it to the dealer they refuse to troubleshoot the issue because they didn't see it happen. This happens probably 5-10 times per week.

Subject: Safety Concern – 2024 Hyundai Palisade Headrest Design Component Affected: Seats / Headrest Vehicle: 2024 Hyundai Palisade VIN: [XXX] Incident Date: [xxx] Mileage at Time of Incident: 15,000 Dealer: Braman Hyundai Miami, 2001 NE 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33137 | (786) 623-4261 Dear NHTSA, I am writing to formally report a safety concern involving the headrest design in my 2024 Hyundai Palisade. On [xxx], my [XXX] son briefly removed and reinserted the middle-row headrest while unsupervised. The headrest locked into place in a reversed orientation and could not be removed or corrected without disassembly by the dealership. I was charged $680 for the repair. This incident raises the following concerns: •The headrest should not be capable of locking in an incorrect and potentially unsafe position. •There are no warnings, labels, or mechanical safeguards to prevent reverse installation. •The owner's manual provides no guidance on this possibility. •This design flaw is particularly troubling in a family-oriented vehicle. •Hyundai has not acknowledged fault or offered support despite the safety implications. I believe this represents a design defect with implications under FMVSS 202a and related passenger safety standards. I am therefore requesting the following: 1.Full reimbursement of the $680 repair cost, which I believe resulted from a manufacturer design oversight. 2.Written acknowledgment of whether Hyundai has previously received similar reports, and whether a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) or other corrective measure is planned. 3.Confirmation that this report will be reviewed by Hyundai’s safety or compliance team. Attached is a copy of the dealer invoice (No. [XXX) documenting the repair. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I am available for further questions or to provide additional documentation if needed. Sincerely, [XXX] Phone: [XXX] Email: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle has been to the dealership twice for an issue with the right-side seat bolster not correctly inflating on the driver's seat. Both times they are claiming the vehicle operates to the standards of a new vehicle on the lot but cannot give information on why the right and left sides operated differently or prove with a service manual on why. Hyundai claim's a 22-way seat, but without the right side moving, this is a 21-way seat. Would like information directly from Hyundia on the correct operations of the seat and also a replacement.
