Component/System: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) / Airbag Occupancy Classification System — Passenger Side What Happened: The airbag/SRS warning light illuminated on my 2018 Infiniti Q60 (VIN [XXX], 102,388 miles). The vehicle was taken to Sewell Infiniti of Dallas ([XXX]) for diagnosis. The technician performed a diagnostic scan and found fault code B00A0-00 related to the passenger seat occupancy classification system. The technician performed a relearn and reset procedure on the occupancy sensor (Step 1 of the progressive repair protocol, at a cost of $143.99). The relearn procedure failed. The technician confirmed the control units are functioning correctly but that the seat sensors have failed and only come with the new passenger front seat frame assembly. The technician also identified a fault code for the right front seat belt buckle switch located inside the passenger front seat belt buckle, which was found during the relearn attempt. The buckle is currently functional but the fault code is present. Sewell Infiniti confirmed the final repair required is replacement of the passenger front seat frame assembly at a quoted cost of $7,948.69, which includes the occupancy classification sensor and the seat belt buckle switch. This repair has not yet been authorized or completed. The vehicle is currently being driven with the airbag warning light illuminated and the occupancy sensor fault unresolved. Is the component available for inspection? Yes. The vehicle is in my possession and available for inspection upon request. How Safety Was Put at Risk: The passenger seat occupancy classification system is a critical component of the supplemental restraint system. Its function is to detect whether a passenger is present in the front passenger seat and to classify the occupant appropriately so that the airbag control module can determine whether and how to deploy the passenger frontal airbag in a collision. I own an Infiniti with fewer than 45,000 miles on it. Recently, the airbag warning light illuminated, so I brought the vehicle to an Infiniti dealership for diagnosis. I was informed that the issue is a known problem involving the seat frame and that the recommended repair is replacement of the seat frame. I was then quoted approximately $11,000 for the repair. I purchased this vehicle less than a year ago and am extremely concerned that a component critical to the airbag system has failed at such low mileage. More importantly, I have been advised that the airbag system will not work while this condition exists, creating what I believe to be a significant safety hazard. Given the low mileage of the vehicle, the reported history of this issue, and the potential impact on occupant safety, I am requesting that Infiniti review this matter. I

The vehicle was subject to an active manufacturer safety recall involving the oil pressure control system and diagnostic trouble code P06DA, which requires inspection and replacement of the Engine Room Sub-Harness if the condition is present. The defect was confirmed by an authorized dealer, DTC P06DA was verified, and the Engine Room Sub-Harness was replaced in accordance with the recall remedy instructions. However, the manufacturer failed to fully remedy the recall, as the consumer was required to pay a significant portion of the repair cost out-of-pocket. While the manufacturer provided partial reimbursement, the remaining balance was charged to the vehicle owner despite the repair being performed solely to address a safety recall condition. Requiring consumer payment to obtain a mandated safety recall repair does not constitute a complete or timely remedy under recall obligations. This complaint is submitted to document the manufacturer’s failure to fully comply with safety recall requirements and to seek appropriate oversight and corrective action.

In-dash airbag light stays on as well as the passenger side airbag. Took the vehicle to Infiniti dealership who recommended to change the OCS Unit and OCS Sensor which costs over $18,000+. Of course, the vehicle in question is not in warranty and we are not going to pay for the repair due to the fact cost to repair is equivalent to the value of the vehicle. This is a safety hazard and have looked at Infiniti forums with my model having the same issue. A disaster waiting to happen with airbag not deploying when front passenger is sitting there in case of an accident. This should be a mandatory recall! It appears Infiniti have had similar issue with other models. On Feb 5, 2025, I received written confirmation from Infiniti Consumer Affairs (Case #[XXX]) that my vehicle was eligible for recall repair. However, on Jan 27, 2025, my Infiniti dealer (Stevens Creek Infiniti) informed me that Infiniti had denied the recall, despite this being necessary for California emissions compliance. This contradicts their initial confirmation and leaves me unable to legally smog or register the vehicle. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owns a 2018 Infiniti Q60. The contact stated that while reversing the rear-view camera image was distorted and scrambled, creating a visibility hazard for the driver. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who reprogrammed the rear-view camera, but the failure persisted. Additionally, while operating the vehicle, the Lane Departure and Forward Collision Avoidance systems were inoperable. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 22,000.

Hello, I purchased my Infiniti Q60 Red Sport brand new in 2028. About a year after that I started to have electrical issues with the car. I've brought it in to the Infiniti dealer in Valencia, CA numerous times during the warranty period (and a few times out of the warranty period), to have these issues addressed. Some were resolved and some were not. So In the past 4-5 years I've brought my vehicle in about 15 times or more to be fixed. The latest issue is a safety problem. About a week ago I noticed that the passenger seat belt sign on the dash does not come on when a passenger is seated without the belt engaged (normally I get a red warning sign that the seat belt is not buckled for the passenger). At the same time I also noticed that there's a red airbag indicator light that stays on at all times while driving. I brought the car in to the dealer again to have it diagnosed, but the service advisor stated that it will be $235 to diagnose the issue, and that more than likely I have to replace the whole seat for $3,500 or more, because the sensor is part of the seat. So to replace the sensor they have to replace the whole seat. I can not afford to pay thousands of dollars for something that is not wear and tear, nor abuse on my part. It seems to me that this should be covered my the manufacture, especially since the issue is safety related. I would greatly appreciate any help that you can offer. Thank you

***** Retailer Announcement ***** INFINITI is committed to providing the highest levels of product quality and customer satisfaction. Therefore, INFINITI is conducting a warranty extension to Full Useful Life (FUL) of 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first, if white smoke or oil leak occurs with MIL-On condition that requires replacement of the turbocharger assembly on model year 2016-2018 Q50 and model year 2017-2018 Q60. All other warranty terms, limitations, and conditions remain unchanged. On some model year 2016-2018 INFINITI Q50 and 2017-2018 Q60 vehicles there is a possibility that the turbocharger bearing may leak engine oil internally due to premature wear. The internal turbocharger oil leak may cause one or more of the following: Excessive smoke from the exhaust, Service Engine Soon (MIL) light and in severe cases, lack of engine power or damage to the internal components of the turbocharger. During the limited emission warranty extension period, owners are eligible for free replacement of the Turbocharger if it is determined to be required by an INFINITI trained technician. Owners of eligible vehicles will receive notification of this limited emission warranty extension during February 2025. ***** What Retailers Should Do ***** 1. Verify if vehicles are eligible for this Warranty Extension using the warranty extension page of Service Comm. Then, proceed with the instructions in item (2) below. 2. If a client contacts the retailer with a Turbocharger concern in an owned or leased vehicle, retailers should use the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) and appropriate Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) to diagnose the root cause of the customer concern and identify the correct repair to resolve the customer concerns. NOTE: Retailers will need to follow the warranty process and obtain pre-approval when the repair cost exceeds a Retailer’s Claims Administration/Authorization Limits (DCAL). CONFIRM: With the vehicle at operating temperature excessive smoke from exhaust, the Service Engine Soon (MIL) light on (with DTC P0106) due to excessive oil in the intake system from a turbocharger, or other damage to the turbocharger due to unusual bearing P4A05/P4A06 | Original Document wear and oil leakage. Proceed to replace the affected turbocharger(s) and update the vehicle to the latest engine software.
