What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2010 INFINITI QX56, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Airbags
Reports naming the air-bag system — deployment behaviour, inflators, sensors and warning lights.
From owner reports, verbatim
The passenger airbag restraint system has failed. Specifically, the passenger seat airbag sensor has failed, meaning there is no current airbag functionality for the passenger in my 2010 Infiniti QX56. There was a voluntary safety recall for (R1606) for Infiniti QX56's with years 2014-2016 for the same fault. Obviously, this is a tremendous life and safety risk and should be resolved by the manufacturer.

From owner reports, verbatim
I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT DOWN WATER ST, UPPER MARLBORO, MD ON MY WAY TO WORK AND THE REAR OVERHEAD CONSOLE (CONSOLE ASSY-ROOF) JUST FELL ON MY SHOULDER AND BACK SEATS. I'VE ATTACHED IMAGES SHOWING THE UNIT BREAKING APART FROM THE SCREWS AND AFTER RESEARCH I SEE THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH INFINITI AND NISSAN VEHICLES ALIKE.
THE REAR OVERHEAD CONSOLE FELL WHILE DRIVING. APPARENTLY IT WAS DUE TO THE HEAT ON THE ROOF THAT MELTED THE 6 CLIPS INSIDE THAT HOLDS IT TO THE CEILING, I'M CONFIDENT THIS HAS TO BE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND NEEDS BE CORRECTED BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. IF MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN WERE IN THE VEHICLE IT COULD HAVE EASILY KILLED ONE IF NOT BOTH. FLIMSY PLASTIC BRACKETS THAT CAN EASILY MELT, SHOULD NOT BE USED IN A VEHICLE LIKE THIS. CURRENTLY, THE ONLY THING HOLDING IT UP IS THE MAIN POWER CABLE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL SINCE THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF INFINITY AND NISSAN ARMADA'S WITH THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. AND TO THINK THEY WANT $90K FOR THE NEW QX WITH CHEAP CRAP UNDER THE HEADLINER. REALLY?!?! WHEN I CONTACTED INFINITY USA, THEY ACTED SURPRISED AND SAID THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING, AT LEAST THAT IS WHAT CONSUMER AFFAIRS READ OFF THEIR SCRIPT TO ME.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE WINDOW WAS 60% DEFROSTED AFTER USING THE DEFROSTER AND A SCRAPPER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
HEATING/A/C ACTUATORS MAKES AN ANNOYING CLICKING NOISE. IT APPEARS TO BE STUCK...AND TRYING TO CLOSE/ OPEN. THIS APPEARS TO BE AN ON GOING PROBLEM WITH NISSAN/INFINITY TRUCKS. *TR

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

Hello, I am the owner of the vehicle is a 2010 Infiniti QX56. Please look into any recalls provide placement or vehicle as well. I no longer have it as a vehicle was stolen. I need I need either a reimbursement or the vehicle, but it does have recalls, and the reason why the vehicle was stolen or taken from the truckstop was because of the tire the wheels something had to do with that the reason why I have no dangerous recall on vehicle. Suspension
Reports naming suspension components — springs, struts, shocks, control arms and related hardware.
From owner reports, verbatim
I HAVE BEEN THE OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE SINCE JUNE OF 2014 AND PURCHASED IT WITH 53K MILES. THE UNDERBODY HAS SUBSTANTIAL RUST FOR THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS RUST HAS SEIZED THE ALIGNMENT BOLTS IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND IT CANNOT BE PROPERLY ALIGNED WITHOUT MAJOR REPAIRS(IN EXCESS OF $1500). A VEHICLE OF THIS AGE SHOULD NOT HAVE CORROSION TO THE EXTENT THAT A REAR END ALIGNMENT IS NOT POSSIBLE. I HAVE TWO OTHER VEHICLES SUBSTANTIALLY OLDER WITH LESS UNDERBODY CORROSION. I BELIEVE THE COATING/PARTS USED ARE DEFECTIVE AND WHEN I CONTACTED INFINITI THEY REFUSED TO COMPENSATE OR MAKE THE REPAIRS. THIS IS TROUBLESOME AS THE ALIGNMENT CAN AFFECT THE STABILITY OF THE VEHICLE AND COULD RESULT IN A ACCIDENT. *TR
A FAULT CODE GETS SET AND DEACTIVATES THE REAR AIR LEVELING SUSPENSION. WHEN THAT HAPPENS, NO AIR TO THE AIR SHOCKS AND IT BOTTOMS OUT. SUPPOSEDLY, ONLY THE DEALER CAN RESET IT. A REAL PROBLEM WHEN TOWING A TRAILER. AND EVEN WORSE, THERE IS NO DRIVER ALERT WHEN IT HAPPENS OR AFTER IT HAS HAPPENED -- YOU JUST LOOSE YOUR REAR SUSPENSION. VERY DANGEROUS. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES FOR ME IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS -- EACH TIME I HAVE TOWED A TRAILER I NEED TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT RESET. THEY TRIED TO REPLACE THE AIR PUMP, BUT THAT DID NOT WORK. THE DEALER INITIALLY BLAMED AN OVER LOADED TRAILER -- BUT THE TRAILER WAS WEIGHED AND SHOWN NOT TO BE OVERLOADED. MY COMPLAINT HAS TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT THE SUSPENSION IS INTENTIONALLY COMPLETELY DEACTIVATED BY THIS FAULT CODE AND THEIR ARE NO WARNINGS PROVIDED THAT IT IS DEACTIVATED. *TR

INFINITI HAS NO SPECS ON WHO CAN SAFELY SIT IN THE CENTER SEAT OF THE THIRD ROW OF MY SUV. THERE IS PLENTY OF ROOM FOR A THIRD PERSON TO SIT IN THAT SPACE -- AND THERE IS A CENTER SEATBELT STANDARD ON THIS VEHICLE... HOWEVER, THERE IS NO HEADREST. I'M HOPING YOU HAVE INFO ON HEIGHT AND WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS FOR WHO CAN SAFELY SIT IN THAT SEAT WITHOUT RISK OF WHIPLASH OR OTHER NECK INJURY IN CASE OF SUDDEN STOPS. THANK YOU!
