The defect: NAVISTAR IS RECALLING 51,588 HEAVY TRUCKS, COMMERCIAL BUSES AND SCHOOL BUSES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN NOVEMBER 21, 2000 AND MAY 21, 2008, EQUIPPED WITH ONE OR MORE REMOTE POWER MODULES. THE POTTING MATERIAL THAT ENCAPSULATES THE CIRCUIT BOARD OF THE VEHICLE'S REMOTE POWER MODULE MAY NOT SUFFICIENTLY SEAL THE CIRCUIT BOARD FROM WATER AND CONTAMINATION INTRUSION. IF THE ENCAPSULATION IS COMPROMISED, WATER AND CONTAMINANTS MAY CAUSE AN INTERNAL ELECTRICAL SHORT, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A FIRE.
The risk: A FIRE COULD CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.

The defect: INTERNATIONAL IS RECALLING 330 MY 2008-2009 4000 SERIES TRUCKS AND 3000 RE, FBC, AND SFC BUSES. A MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THE SUBASSEMBLY OF THE FRONT AXLE WHEEL HUBS RESULTED IN THE BEARINGS BEING INADEQUATELY LUBRICATED. THIS CONDITION COULD CAUSE THE FRONT AXLE BEARINGS TO OVERHEAT WHICH CAN RESULT IN BEARING SPALLING, SEIZING, OR RELATED DAMAGE.
The risk: SUCH DAMAGE MAY RESULT IN WHEEL LOCKUP OR FRONT WHEEL SEPARATION ON THE HIGHWAY WITH LITTLE OR NO WARNING TO THE DRIVER, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE FRONT AXLE BEARINGS AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE AND/OR PROPERLY LUBRICATE THE BEARINGS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 23, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT INTERNATIONAL AT 1-800-448-7825.

The defect: INTERNATIONAL IS RECALLING MY 2008-2009 4000, 5000, 7000, 8000, 9000 AND PROSTAR TRACTOR/TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH BENDIX MV-3 DASH CONTROL VALVES. THE MOLDED VALVE BODY HAS AN INCORRECT CORE PIN IN THE INJECTION MOLD CAUSING THE VALVE BODY TO BE OVERSIZED IN THE DOUBLE CHECK VALVE AREA. THIS CONDITION CAN ALLOW THE RUBBER DOUBLE CHECK VALVE TO BECOME LODGED IN THE BODY OPENING UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES.
The risk: IF THE DOUBLE CHECK VALVE BECOMES LODGED, IN THE EVENT OF A PRIMARY RESERVOIR FAILURE, AIR PRESSURE CAN LEAK PAST THE LODGED DOUBLE CHECK VALVE THEREBY DEPLETING THE SECONDARY RESERVOIR, CAUSING REDUCED ABILITY FOR MODULATING THE SERVICE EMERGENCY BRAKES INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE BENDIX MV-3 DASH CONTROL VALVES FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 9, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT INTERNATIONAL AT 1-800-448-7825.

2008 MEDTEC AMBULANCE THAT HAS FAILURE OF THE STREET SIDE INTERIOR WALL AND CABINETS. THE ENTIRE WALL AND CABINETRY WERE NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY DURING NEW CONSTRUCTION AND NOW HAVE FAILED TO WHERE THEY ARE FALLING OFF THE CEILING AND HAVE BUCKLED AWAY FROM THE EXTERIOR SHELL OF THE AMBULANCE. SEAT BELT RESTRAINTS WERE ALSO FOUND TO BE FASTENED INTO 3/4" PLYWOOD ONLY. THESE WILL NOT MEET THE REQUIRED DOT AND AND PULL TESTING AND WOULD HAVE FAILED GROSSLY IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CORPORATION HAS FAILED TO STAND BEHIND THIS PRODUCT, STATING THAT IT DOES NOT FALL UNDER ANY WARRANTY CLAUSE FOR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM SERVICE AS IT IS CLEARLY A SAFETY FOR EMERGENCY CREWS AND PATIENTS ALIKE. ACTION OR INVOLVEMENT IS BEING REQUESTED FROM THE NHTSA FOR THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE AND ALSO OTHERS THAT ARE STILL IN SERVICE THAT MAY VERY LIKELY HAVE THE SAME DEFICIENCIES AND BE A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR

In some geographic areas, ambient temperatures reaching below 15°F (-10 °C), including high levels of humidity, an operator may experience engine stalling, low performance, and or poor aftertreatment performance. This is caused by condensation accumulating and freezing within the Charge Air Cooler (CAC); affecting air flow into the engine. This article lists all the currently available winter front covers that can be installed on the front grille and bumper to reduce cold air flow to the engine compartment.
