RE: [XXX] JAGUAR 2001 XKR # [XXX] DEAR SIR; MY 2001 XKR IS LEAKING HYDRAULIC FLUID AT THE ROOF LATCH FOR THE SECOND TIME. IT LEAKS HYDRAULIC FLUID ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THE FLUID ESCAPES FROM AN AREA BY THE GARAGE DOOR OPENER. IT IS LEAKING FROM A DEFECTIVE FITTING ON THE CONVERTIBLE ROOF LATCH LOCATED AT THE TOP OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. IT WAS ORIGINALLY FIXED ON 23 OCTOBER 2006 AT MATHENY IMPORTS IN JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA. IT HAS NOW HAPPENED FOR A SECOND TIME. MY FRIEND WITH A SAME CAR HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN 4 WEEKS AGO WITH FLUID SPRAYING ALL OVER THE FRONT OF THE CAR. THE INTERNET IS REPLETE WITH DISSATISFIED OWNERS WITH THIS PROBLEM IN XK8/XKR?S FROM 1999-2005 OR SO. HYDRAULIC FLUID SPRAYING ON DRIVERS WHILE OPERATING A VEHICLE MUST BE RECOGNIZED AS A SIGNIFICANT HAZARD. I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY RESPONSE FROM JAGUAR ON THIS ISSUE. THESE ARE NOT RARE OCCURRENCES, BUT ARE COMMONPLACE. HYDRAULIC FLUID IS FLAMMABLE AND MAY BE TOXIC IF INHALED OR ABSORBED THROUGH THE SKIN. A RECALL SHOULD BE CONSIDERED. YOUR RESPONSE WOULD BE APPRECIATED. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
Compare model years
Complaint and recall counts across every year of this model
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
