What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2019 Jayco Travel Trailer Jay Flight, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

The contact stated upon taking the trailer to the dealer for an unknown recall repair, the dealer informed him that the gas lines were cracked and were leaking from the LP tanks to the regulator. The dealer replaced the gas lines and the RV was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that that regulator then failed to work. The contact replaced the regulator himself. The RV was repaired. I BOUGHT A 2019 JAYCO JAYFLIGHT, TRAVEL TRAILER, MODEL 29BHDB. MY SLIDE OUT HAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT IS ALSO A SAFETY AND A LEGAL ISSUE AS WELL; BECAUSE THE HOLE TO INSERT A CRANK TO MANUALLY OPERATE THE SLIDE SHOULD IT FAIL IS BLOCKED BY THE TANK, SO IF THE SLIDE SHOULD FAIL THERE IS NO WAY TO MANUALLY RETRACT IT, WHICH MEANS THAT I WOULD HAVE TO DRIVE WITH MY SLIDE EXTENDED IF THAT SHOULD HAPPEN, THAT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A LEGAL ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS AN OFFENSE TO DRIVE WITH YOUR SLIDE EXTENDED, BUT I WOULD HAVE TO DRIVE TO A REPAIR SHOP TO HAVE THAT FIXED IF I CANNOT RETRACT THE SLIDE MANUALLY. THAT IS WOULD BE VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE DRIVING WITH AN EXTENDED SLIDE OUT AFFECTS THE AERODYNAMICS OF YOUR VEHICLE WHILE IN MOTION. IN 2020 JAYCO DECIDED TO DISCONTINUE THIS MODEL BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT AND OTHER ISSUES, BUT THEY HAVE REFUSED TO FIX THE DEFECT. THE TRAVEL TRAILER CAME WITH THE CRANK TO OPERATE THE SLIDE MANUALLY BUT THE HOLE TO ATTACH THE CRANK TO THE CRANK EXTENSION IS BLOCKED BY THE HOLDING TANK.

THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY ISSUES WITH OUR CAMPER. WE BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW IN MAY OF 2019, IT STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WHILE STATIONARY IN AUGUST OF 2019 WHEN WATER STARTED LEAKING THROUGH THE ROOF, DAMAGING THE LIGHT FIXTURES, SOAKING OUR RECLINER, AND THE CARPET/FLOOR NEXT TO THE RECLINER. WE TOOK IT TO OCEAN GROVE AND IT WAS THERE FOR 1 MONTH. THEN SHORTLY AFTER THAT THE SHOWER STARTED LEAKING THROUGH THE FLOOR, MULTIPLE TIMES. EVERY TIME THEY SENT SOMEONE OUT, IT WOULD BE FIXED FOR A FEW DAYS, THEN WE'D HAVE TO CALL THEM BACK TO FIX IT. THIS WENT ON AND ON UNTIL THE WATER DAMAGE WAS SO SEVERE THAT IT HAD DAMAGED THE FUZE BOX. RV-ONE (WHO BOUGHT OUT OCEAN GROVE) CAME OUT TO FIX IT ALONG WITH THE FRONT DOOR THAT, NOW, WASN'T SHUTTING OR STAYING CLOSED. THE CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR WENT OFF IN FEBRUARY OF 2020 TO ADD TO ALL THE OTHER TROUBLES. THEY TOLD US TO BRING IT IN ON FEB. 3RD, 2020. WE BROUGHT THE CAMPER UP TO THEM AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD ORDER THE PARTS ASAP. ON THE WARRANTY CLAIMS IT SAYS THE ORDER WASN'T PLACED UNTIL MARCH 3RD. THEN COVID-19 STARTED HITTING, WHICH DELAYED THEM FROM GETTING PARTS. RV1 HAD OUR CAMPER FOR 5 1/2 MONTHS. THEY CALLED US MAYBE ONCE OR TWICE FOR UPDATES, BUT OTHER THAN THAT WE WERE CONSTANTLY CALLING THEM AND HEARING THE SAME THING OVER AGAIN "YOUR PARTS ARE BEING SHIPPED". WE GOT IT BACK BEGINNING OF JULY AND THEY ARE A HUGE SCRATCH ON THE SIDE AND ACTUALLY TORE UP ONE OF THE TIRE COVERS AND DIDN'T EVEN SAY ANYTHING. WE NOTICED A FEW DAYS AFTER BRINGING IT HOME.

Suspension
Reports naming suspension components — springs, struts, shocks, control arms and related hardware.
From owner reports, verbatim
Our RV experienced frame failure twice. It was repaired by the rv facility the first time as it was under warranty. 2nd time it was not. This is a widespread and ongoing issue on Lippert frames and needs to be on a recall. The danger of a 45ft 5th wheel frame breaking on a major freeway could be catastrophic.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
