1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Seat belts Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the seat belt system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Seat belts reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

3-08-2010 WE HAVE A FIRST YEARS TRUE FIT CONVERTIBLE CAR SEAT WITH A DOM OF 7-16-2008, BOUGHT IN 4-2009. WE DO NOT USE THE LATCH SYSTEM SO THE TOP HOOK STAYS CONNECTED TO THE SEAT AND NOT TOUCHED OTHER THAN A NORMAL BUMP WHEN INSTALLING THE SEAT. ON 2-21-10 I NOTICED THE TOP LATCH HOOK WAS OFF OF THE CAR SEAT. WHEN I WENT TO PUT IT BACK ON THE SEAT I NOTICED THAT THE THIN PART OF THE HOOK NO LONGER WAS MEETING THE FAT PART AND WOULD NOT STAY ON THE SEAT. I PUT THE CLIP BACK ON THE SEAT AND INSTALLED THE SEAT IN THE CAR. ONCE WE TOOK THE SEAT BACK OUT OF THE CAR WE NOTICED THE CLIP ONCE AGAIN WAS OFF THE SEAT, ALL IT TOOK WAS A BUMP ON THE CLIP FOR IT TO COME OFF. I CALLED LEARNING CURVE ABOUT IT AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION THAT THE CLIP WAS NO LONGER STAYING WHERE IT NEEDS TO AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD MAIL ME A "RETAINER CLIP" AND INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO INSTALL. PHONE CALL WAS ON 3-5-210, SO HAVE NOT YET RECEIVED THIS CLIP AND UNKNOWN IF IT WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM (RELATED VEHICLE INFORMATION: MODEL YEAR=1995, MAKE=JEEP, MODEL=GRAND CHEROKEE). *TR
