2023 Jeep Wagoneer Electrical Problems

Problem occurs randomly and have not been able to consistently repeat results. Vehicle stops and shuts off and puts itself into park. Restart vehicle and it drives normally. It did this once pulling out of a parking lot into traffic, oncoming traffic was able to stop to avoid us. We brought it to the dealership to be looked at and they found nothing wrong. They did say codes were in the computer but since they weren’t active they couldn’t do anything about it. No lights stay on after the car is restarted. It has done this multiple times.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Wagoneer. The contact stated that the vehicle intermittently went into park(P) and turned off while merging into traffic with the message "Stop/Start Required" displayed. The vehicle also shut off unexpectedly while idling in park(P). The contact was forced to restart the vehicle to resume normal operation. The vehicle was initially taken to a dealer, and the failure was attributed to the gasoline in the fuel tank; however, the failure returned the following day. The same dealer later diagnosed the vehicle with a defective auxiliary battery inside the alternator. The dealer refused to honor the warranty, prompting the contact to seek repairs from an independent mechanic. The part to repair the vehicle was currently on a national backorder, and there was no estimated date for the parts to become available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but only directed the contact to a parts website; however, the necessary part could not be located. The vehicle remained unrepaired with the independent mechanic. The failure mileage was approximately 39,000.

I was driving on [XXX] and I noticed the battery meter started going down from 13 and ended at 9 and the vehicle shut of and put itself in Park while the vehicle was still moving. There were other cars behind me and the car would not restart. I had to get a jump and it restarted. Car will shudder and shut off while slowing down. The control panel will change to saying "Push start button to run." This has happened 50+ times, including while in slower traffic on the Interstate. It is very dangerous because I am stopped suddenly in traffic and have to restart the car and put it back in gear in order to move. Car has also started and run, but the control panel remains in the "push button to start" mode while driving, so none of the control panel is available. This is dangerous because I have no idea what my speed is.

2023 L series II Wagoneer 84,444 miles full bench 2nd and 3rd row - My family was travelling in the car and the second row driver side seat unlatched and forcefully slammed my daughter into the back of the driver seat. No aggressive driving and no warning lights on the dash. The car dinged then slammed my daughter's face into the back of the driver seat. Caused swelling and a black eye on the left side. Also caused a spinal injury on the C2 and C3 joint that we are still getting information on the issue. I am submitting this in hopes that this does not happen to someone else's family like it did mine. My family of 4 and 3 kids that are family friends. The event took place on 6-11 and I am writing this report on 6-12. No inspection has been done on the car due to still being at the hospital consulting a specialist on the spinal issue.

The contact owns a 2023 JEEP Wagoneer. The contact stated that while towing, the vehicle experienced a serious and recurring safety failure where the trailer lights would function for approximately five minutes before a portion of them would blackout. This failure renders towing unsafe and illegal, as it compromises visibility and traffic law compliance. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 26E006000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) however, the VIN was not included in the recall due to the vehicle not being within the 2024-2025 range listed on the recall notice. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on three separate occasions for the same failure. During the first visit, the dealer stated the issue was with the trailers; however, the contact paid for independent inspections that confirmed both trailers were in proper working order. During the second visit, the dealer performed a software update, but the failure persisted. During the third visit, the dealer diagnosed the issue as a known manufacturer software defect with no current resolution available. The vehicle was not repaired, due to no other options of repair besides a recall. The manufacturer has been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,335.

It seems that when the outside temperature is very warm/hot, when turning the car on or when idling at a traffic light or driving at very low speeds, on occasion the car will abruptly and without warning, shift itself into Park and the emergency brake activates. I took the vehicle in for repair on 10/23/25 and was told there was a "thermostat internal failure" and that the "thermostat assembly" was replaced. I was just recently traveling in Florida ( reside in NY) and the exact same problems occurred with my vehicle which I can only assume was due to the warmer temperatures that my vehicle has not been exposed to since the last repair as I reside in New York. I feel it should be worth mentioning that when turning OFF the auto start/stop button, the problems occurred less frequently but STILL happened on occasion. I've also had 3 other times when the "check engine" light came on. I was told that the first 2 were related to software updates with the transmission. On the other occasion, a "valve body" was replaced. I'm unsure if any of these were related. I've also had to replace the auxiliary battery but I don't think that's related so I didn't upload that file. Although I'm taking the vehicle to be repaired today, I took it in on 04/14/26 because the check engine light came on while in Florida when the car shifted itself into Park and the Emergency Brake was activated. The check engine light almost never comes on when this happens which I was told makes it difficult to diagnose issues. I didn't know how long this info is stored so I took the vehicle in upon returning to NY and was given a Summary Report after they hooked up a scanner. I couldn't get an appointment until today

On 10/27/25, the thermostat on my wagoneer exploded. It was supposedly repaired on 10/30/25. I read in the wagoneers forum that the thermostat is a common issue, but it could be the result of engine problems. On 2/4/26, I took my vehicle in for a routine oil change. I didn't drive the vehicle for a few days. On 2/7/26, I was driving and received an Error Message stating Max Engine Oil Level Exceeded. Immediate Service required. I returned it to the dealer to fix that issue. On 2/15/26, I noticed that my engine sounded louder than normal and by 2/16/26, the check engine light was on. On 2/18/26, I received an error message saying the engine temperature was too hot. I took it back to the dealership where it is today. I believe the wagoneers have faulty engines that need to be recalled.

This complaint involves a 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L Series III, a full-size luxury SUV. The vehicle has experienced repeated electrical and powertrain failures culminating in complete loss of propulsion. On 01/22/2026, while traveling approximately 45–50 mph, the vehicle abruptly shut down without warning. The engine lost power, dashboard displays went black, and multiple warning lights illuminated simultaneously. I was forced to steer to the shoulder while a trailing vehicle had to swerve off the roadway to avoid a collision. This was a near-miss event and represents a serious safety hazard involving sudden loss of motive power at highway speed. Prior to that event, the vehicle had already stalled at a traffic light and had exhibited repeated check engine warnings, low-voltage faults, and module communication errors. The servicing dealer documented multiple diagnostic trouble codes affecting the Body Control Module (BCM), Ignition System Control Module (ISCM), and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Manufacturer technical service bulletin software updates were applied in attempts to correct the issue. Despite these interventions, the electrical instability persisted. On 02/12/2026, only days after an auxiliary battery replacement intended to address voltage concerns, the vehicle would not start and required towing to the dealership at my expense. Additional fault codes are currently under review. The vehicle is also subject to an open recall with no remedy available, and the power running board motor has failed with replacement parts unavailable. This pattern of electrical failure, sudden shutdown in motion, and inability to reliably start presents an ongoing and unacceptable safety risk to occupants and surrounding motorists. The vehicle is available for inspection and has been repeatedly evaluated by an authorized dealer.

My air conditioning first went out in 2024 in 105 degree weather with a 3 month old baby, the dealer found the issue and fixed it. Then it went out again recently in the same type of weather and now since I am out of my warranty they are trying to charge me for the same issue, this is definitely a hazard to my health and the health of my children being that the weather can’t afford anyone with no AC. Plus they are refusing to see this as a manufacturer issue, when obviously it is. So I am complaining because this is definitely an electrical issue that could lead to other problems and the manufacturer needs to take responsibility and issue the recall because I am not the only consumer experiencing these issues. The faulty AC could lead to a fire or other serious issues that possibly cause injuries to me or my children

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Wagoneer. The contact stated that on several occasions, while driving at various speeds and continuing to accelerate, the RPM failed to respond as needed. Additionally, while slowing down the RPM failed to lower. For the past five months, the vehicle has stalled nearly every other day, including while backing out of driveways or parking spaces and when slowing to stop. Each time, the engine suddenly shuts off without warning, the transmission automatically shifts into Park, and the emergency brake engages. An engine warning light appears with a “battery fault” message. The repeated engine shutdowns and automatic braking create a serious safety risk, particularly when backing into traffic or stopping at intersections. In several instances, the vehicle would not restart for several minutes, leaving it disabled in the roadway. The vehicle has been taken twice to the authorized Jeep dealership in Stonecrest, Georgia, but the service department was unable to reproduce or correct the issue. The problem persists, and the “battery fault” light continues to appear intermittently. The vehicle was bought June 2023, starting September 2023 we have had continual electrical problems. The blind spot warning system constantly activates and takes over. The automatic braking system randomly activates for no reason. The car will go into full braking and stop. This will happen at all speeds to include highway speeds. Now I am getting check engine lights and the code changes every time the light activates. When we take it to the dealership for service all we get is "we can't replicate the issue" and nothing is fixed. I ran a Car Fax and found that instead of coding the problem that it was brought in for, Jeep has coded it as maintenance inspection or electrical system checked. This is even when modules, radios or electrical systems have been replaced. I have a feeling that Jeep is coding this way to avoid recalls or to hide problems. I would think this constitutes fraud. My Jeep has serious electrical issues that Jeep will not address. I am stuck driving it as it is my only vehicle.

When starting the vehicle, the instrument panel cluster freezes on the start screen, eliminating the ability to see fuel level, speed, engine temperature. This has been reported to the dealership and examined by them. Although this was reported months ago, there has been no communication from the dealership. The dealer indicated that I am not alone in having this issue. Thankfully, it has always reset to date, but it is not safe to drive when in this configuration. There are no warnings before it happens. There is no pattern as to when it happens.

To date, my vehicle has been into the dealership three separate times for the same issue: 1.First Visit: I was told the problem was with my trailers. I paid to have both inspected, and both were confirmed to be in proper working order. 2.Second Visit: I was informed that a software issue had been identified and corrected through an update. The issue persisted immediately afterward. 3.Third Visit: I was recently told that Jeep is now aware of this as a known vehicle software defect and that there is currently no resolution available. This situation is unacceptable. I purchased this vehicle with the expectation that it would safely perform its advertised towing functions. Instead, I am left with a vehicle that cannot legally or safely tow — the very purpose for which it was purchased.

Vehicle speedometer has randomly blacked out on numerous occasions not allowing me to see any of my gauges. While driving on the interstate and merging the vehicle has stalled and RPMS stay stagnant yet you can hear the engine revving & then it acts like it will catch up. While driving up hill the vehicle began to stall almost like it was towing something when it was not. Back up camera has failed to turn on (resolved its self after I restarted the car). When I take it into the dealer error codes never seem to pop for these issues even though it tells me to see dealer, and read manual for proper oil and fuel usage. It’s like it has a mind of its own and it worries me to continue driving my three children around when electrical issues randomly happen every month or so & it needs constant updating. Both batteries have been replaced due to these issues draining the life out of them.
