Problem occurs randomly and have not been able to consistently repeat results. Vehicle stops and shuts off and puts itself into park. Restart vehicle and it drives normally. It did this once pulling out of a parking lot into traffic, oncoming traffic was able to stop to avoid us. We brought it to the dealership to be looked at and they found nothing wrong. They did say codes were in the computer but since they weren’t active they couldn’t do anything about it. No lights stay on after the car is restarted. It has done this multiple times.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Wagoneer. The contact stated that the vehicle intermittently went into park(P) and turned off while merging into traffic with the message "Stop/Start Required" displayed. The vehicle also shut off unexpectedly while idling in park(P). The contact was forced to restart the vehicle to resume normal operation. The vehicle was initially taken to a dealer, and the failure was attributed to the gasoline in the fuel tank; however, the failure returned the following day. The same dealer later diagnosed the vehicle with a defective auxiliary battery inside the alternator. The dealer refused to honor the warranty, prompting the contact to seek repairs from an independent mechanic. The part to repair the vehicle was currently on a national backorder, and there was no estimated date for the parts to become available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but only directed the contact to a parts website; however, the necessary part could not be located. The vehicle remained unrepaired with the independent mechanic. The failure mileage was approximately 39,000.

Temperature alert went off for too hot. Was stranded in North Carolina while driving for vacation. Had to get a rental while thermostat was replaced. This is a known and widespread issue yet no recall has been sent out.

I was driving on [XXX] and I noticed the battery meter started going down from 13 and ended at 9 and the vehicle shut of and put itself in Park while the vehicle was still moving. There were other cars behind me and the car would not restart. I had to get a jump and it restarted. Car will shudder and shut off while slowing down. The control panel will change to saying "Push start button to run." This has happened 50+ times, including while in slower traffic on the Interstate. It is very dangerous because I am stopped suddenly in traffic and have to restart the car and put it back in gear in order to move. Car has also started and run, but the control panel remains in the "push button to start" mode while driving, so none of the control panel is available. This is dangerous because I have no idea what my speed is.

While driving at low speed, the vehicle suddenly shut down completely without any warning. The engine lost power while I was cruising, causing the vehicle to stop responding. On separate occasions, the vehicle has also shut off while idling. This condition creates a serious safety concern because the vehicle can stall unexpectedly in traffic, increasing the risk of a collision. The issue has occurred multiple times and appears to be happening everytime i drive the vehicle. It started nov of 2025 up to now dealership cannot fix the problem.

Vehicle: 2023 Jeep Wagoneer Mileage at time of incident: 43,400 miles Component: Engine Cooling System / Thermostat Incident Description: This vehicle has experienced two separate thermostat failures since purchase. The first failure occurred the day after I purchased the vehicle, in April 2024, at only 104 miles. This time the vehicle overheated /stall pattern even after confirming coolant was at a sufficient level. The second failure occurred on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 43,400 miles. While driving with my wife, son, and son's friend as passengers, the temperature warning indicator activated, signaling an engine overheating condition. Shortly after, the engine lost power and stalled completely while the vehicle was in the middle of a busy intersection. With the engine off, I had no power assist for steering or braking, which made it extremely difficult to maneuver the vehicle out of the path of oncoming traffic. My family and I were nearly struck by other vehicles while attempting to get the disabled Wagoneer clear of the intersection. The recurrence of this failure at relatively low mileage (43,400 miles on a 2023 model) indicates a potential design or manufacturing defect in the cooling system, not an isolated incident. The second failure resulted in a complete loss of engine power in active traffic, creating an immediate safety hazard to my passengers and to other drivers on the road. The vehicle will severely vibrate when traveling 60mph or higher. Faster speeds increase the vibration intensity. I used a vibration meter on the steering wheel and drove on a smooth highway. Multiple tests/results were all similar, the vibration meter would register up to 10.3 and avg in the mid 4s and 5s. A 5.8 equates to a Level VI Strong Earthquake on the Mercalli Intensity Scale. The vibration is so violent the steering wheel shakes uncontrollably causing a strong fear of losing control. We live in rural Nevada with open desert and spotty cell service for most of the drive from Pahrump NV to Las Vegas. We were afraid to drive the vehicle due to the handling issues, that something happening in the middle of nowhere. Jeep customer support denied, obstructed and overall refused to help. Was assigned to several agents and supervisors and after filing the initial report, message requests were rarely returned. I was ultimately told by Customer Care, “it was my problem not Jeeps”. The first dealership I went to refused to look at the car unless I paid them for unnecessary work I then went back to Jeep Only in Las Vegas (where I purchased vehicle) and they quickly acknowledged the severe vibration issue was a common problem and they have serviced this problem on many other Wagoneer’s in the past. I worked with Evan the Service Advisor and Tigh Pesicka the Service Manager and they assured me the problem was with Jeep’s paring of the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza tire and the Wagoneer. The Bridgestone was a passenger tire and the Wagoneer due to its weight needed light truck rated tires. Evan at Jeep Only recommended the Continental Terrain Contact A/T tires, I purchased them and it lessened the severity of the vibration. The dealership failed to get Jeep to cover the new tire, so they said I will have to pay for them and sue Jeep for reimbursement. A quick search you will find many examples of Wagoneer Owners with the same issue.

ENGINE
PUMP, Auxiliary Coolant Before replacing the Auxiliary Coolant Pump, please perform the following steps: 1) Key ON/OFF and let the after-run pump run for at least 20 minutes before moving on to step #2. 2) Inspect the pump connector area for presence of water. 3) Inspect the pump connector for corrosion. 4) Inspect the pump for coolant contamination as this can cause the pump to stall. 5) Inspect battery terminals for damage to rule out a battery drainage issue. 6) Ensure the PCM is up-to-date with the latest available flash. If correct repair is not performed then the claim or condition will be recovered by Warranty Operations.
