The defect: KAWASAKI IS RECALLING 5,804 MY 2008 KL650E8F AND KL650E8FL (CALIFORNIA) MOTORCYCLES. THE TURN SIGNAL STALK(S) CAN BREAK, RESULTING IN THE SIGNAL ASSEMBLY HANGING BY THE WIRE HARNESS.
The risk: THIS COULD CREATE A POSSIBILITY OF A CRASH RESULTING IN INJURY OR DEATH.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE ALL FOUR TURN SIGNAL ASSEMBLIES. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 13, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KAWASAKI AT 1-866-802-9381.

HEADLIGHT LAMP FAILURE HEADLIGHT LAMP WAS REPLACED AT 4800 MILES THE SECOND (NEW) HEADLAMP HAS NOW FAILED AFTER LESS THAN 500 MILES IGNITION STARTER SWITCH CONTACTS CORROSION, FAILED TO TURN OVER ENGINE. THIS WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER UNDER WARRANTY. THIS MOTORCYCLE MODEL HAS A SAFETY RECALL CONCERNING THE WIRING HARNESS. THIS PARTICULAR MOTORCYCLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION OF THE WIRING HARNESS, THE DEALER INSTALLED MANUFACTURER SUPPLIED KIT WHICH ADDED PROTECTION FOR POTENTIAL ABRASION POINTS. THE ABOVE FAILURES OF THE IGNITION STARTER AND THE HEADLAMPS ALL HAPPENED AFTER THE DEALER INSPECTION OF THE WIRING HARNESS. *TR
