While commuting by highway to my place of work - motorcycle surged and "Low engine oil pressure" warning came on display. Immediately shut off motorcycle and attempted to maneuver the bike to a safe place to stop while avoiding traffic. Upon investigation, visually found low engine oil level, but no oil leaks present anywhere. Refilled oil to correct level on sight-glass, and attempted to restart engine, but engine presented with serious knock and "bad" sounds. Immediately shut down engine and trailered motorcycle to authorized service center.

The front brakes of the machine are inconsistent in how much lever effort is required to get the bike to stop. At slow speed, there is sometimes not braking force when pulling the brake lever. At slow speed, there is sometimes a tremendous amount of braking force when pulling the lever. At high speeds, the brakes are often good and work as expected. At high speeds, sometimes the brakes don't work and require you to release the brake lever and pull the lever again. The vehicle is available for inspection. My safety and the safety of others are at great risk when operating this vehicle. The vehicle has been inspected and serviced by a franchise dealer. There are no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the failure. This issue was present around 500 miles into ownership, approximately 2 months after purchase.

SUSPENSION

SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR PRELOAD ADJUSTER In the course of continuous product improvement and further development, the software of the Preload adjuster of the above-mentioned models optimized in order to eliminate occasional positional errors or stalling. KTM therefore recommends updating the SCU (Suspension Control Unit) software. The update has resulted in the following innovations: The end positions of the preload adjuster have been adjusted to prevent it from getting stuck in the end stop. The current output was increased to move off from the end stop.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

SOFTWARE UPDATE OF THE RACE ON SYSTEM In the course of continuous product improvement and further development, the locking behavior of the RaceOn fuel tank cap on the above-mentioned models has been modified to prevent occasional damage. For this purpose, the time between switching off the ignition and the automatic locking of the fuel tank cap was increased from 60 seconds to 120 seconds. KTM therefore recommends updating the software of the RaceOn lock system.

EQUIPMENT; SEATS

Improved rubber seat cowl pad bushings are now available for the 2022 1290 Super Adventure S. The improved seat cowl pad bushings prevent the seat from possibly moving from the high adjustment position to the low adjustment position.
