The defect: KTM North America, Inc. (KTM) is recalling certain 2025 390 Adventure R, 390 SMC R, 390 Adventure X, and 390 Enduro R motorcycles. Engine vibrations may cause the side stand spring to break and the side stand to fall to the ground.
The risk: A motorcycle side stand that falls to the ground while riding can shut off the ignition, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
The remedy: Owners are advised to secure the side stand before riding the motorcycle until the remedy has been completed. Dealers will replace the side stand spring and install a new side stand sensor retaining plate, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on February 17, 2026. Owners may contact KTM customer service at 1-888-985-6090. The manufacturer's number for this recall is KTB2514. The information in your report suggests that KTM North America, Inc. (KTM) may have been aware of this issue more than five business days before filing a report with NHTSA. Please be reminded that under Federal law, this agency is to be notified of all safety defect and/or noncompliance decisions within five business days. 49 CFR 573.6. The defect: KTM North America, Inc. (KTM) is recalling certain 2024 Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, 2024-2025 390 Duke, 2025 390 SMC R, 390 Enduro R, 390 Adventure X, and 390 Adventure R motorcycles. The engine control software may cause the engine to stall at low rpms, resulting in a loss of power.
The risk: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash or injury.
The remedy: KTM and Husqvarna dealers will inspect the motorcycles and update the electronic control unit engine management system (ECU EMS) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 23, 2026. Owners may contact KTM customer service at 1-888-985-6090. The manufacturer's numbers for this recall are KTB2513 & HTB2508.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

KTM North America, Inc. has identified a deviation that may cause the turn signal flashers to blink at a rate that is faster than normal. To resolve this, an update of the dashboard software is required. This software update solves the possibility of the turn signal flashers blinking too fast, particularly at low ambient temperatures.

STRUCTURE:BODY

KTM North America, Inc. has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists with certain model motorcycles listed above. Engine vibrations may cause the side stand spring on forged side stands to break. A broken side stand spring may cause the side stand to deploy while the motorcycle is in motion, potentially turning off the ignition and increasing the risk of a crash. To remedy this defect, the side stand spring on all affected motorcycles must be replaced with a new side stand spring that has a rubber protector mounted. (#A60103224033 – Side stand spring with rubber protector) In addition to replacing the side stand spring affected motorcycles must also have a new side stand sensor retaining plate (#A60103029100) installed at the same time. The new side stand sensor retaining plate shifts the trigger range of the side stand switch. It is recommended that the side stand be secured for the journey to a dealer. This can be done, for example, with a heavy duty rubber strap or something similar.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

KTM North America, Inc. has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists with certain model motorcycles listed above pertaining to the engine control unit software. An issue with the originally installed engine control unit software may cause the engine to stall at low rpms. A loss of engine power increases the risk of a crash which could cause injury to the rider or others and/or damage to property. To remedy this defect, it is necessary to install the updated engine control unit software on all affected motorcycles.

During quality inspections, it was found that some front wheel collars did not meet the specification. Therefore, the collars must be checked on all affected vehicles and replaced if necessary.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

During quality checks, it was noticed that in some cases the indicators were incorrectly coded in the combination instrument. Connect vehicle to the diagnostic tool and external voltage supply (XCharge) as shown in Figure in the XC_3.

During quality checks, it was determined that the installed side stand spring does not meet our quality standards. For this reason, the side stand spring must be replaced on all affected motorcycles that are linked to this bulletin in Dealer.net. As part of the PDI, the routing of the engine breathing line should also be checked (see Fig. 1 and Fig. 2).

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition.
