What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

KTM North America, Inc. (KTM) is recalling certain 2024 Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, 2024-2025 390 Duke, 2025 390 SMC R, 390 Enduro R, 390 Adventure X, and 390 Adventure R motorcycles. The engine control software may cause the engine to stall at low rpms, resulting in a loss of power.

The risk

A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash or injury.

The remedy

KTM and Husqvarna dealers will inspect the motorcycles and update the electronic control unit engine management system (ECU EMS) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 23, 2026. Owners may contact KTM customer service at 1-888-985-6090. The manufacturer's numbers for this recall are KTB2513 & HTB2508.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
