The defect: KTM North America, Inc. (KTM) is recalling certain 2025 390 Adventure R, 390 SMC R, 390 Adventure X, and 390 Enduro R motorcycles. Engine vibrations may cause the side stand spring to break and the side stand to fall to the ground.
The risk: A motorcycle side stand that falls to the ground while riding can shut off the ignition, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
The remedy: Owners are advised to secure the side stand before riding the motorcycle until the remedy has been completed. Dealers will replace the side stand spring and install a new side stand sensor retaining plate, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on February 17, 2026. Owners may contact KTM customer service at 1-888-985-6090. The manufacturer's number for this recall is KTB2514. The information in your report suggests that KTM North America, Inc. (KTM) may have been aware of this issue more than five business days before filing a report with NHTSA. Please be reminded that under Federal law, this agency is to be notified of all safety defect and/or noncompliance decisions within five business days. 49 CFR 573.6. The defect: KTM North America, Inc. (KTM) is recalling certain 2024 Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, 2024-2025 390 Duke, 2025 390 SMC R, 390 Enduro R, 390 Adventure X, and 390 Adventure R motorcycles. The engine control software may cause the engine to stall at low rpms, resulting in a loss of power.
The risk: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash or injury.
The remedy: KTM and Husqvarna dealers will inspect the motorcycles and update the electronic control unit engine management system (ECU EMS) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 23, 2026. Owners may contact KTM customer service at 1-888-985-6090. The manufacturer's numbers for this recall are KTB2513 & HTB2508.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

KTM North America, Inc. has identified a deviation that may cause the turn signal flashers to blink at a rate that is faster than normal. To resolve this, an update of the dashboard software is required. This software update solves the possibility of the turn signal flashers blinking too fast, particularly at low ambient temperatures.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

KTM North America, Inc. has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists with certain model motorcycles listed above pertaining to the engine control unit software. An issue with the originally installed engine control unit software may cause the engine to stall at low rpms. A loss of engine power increases the risk of a crash which could cause injury to the rider or others and/or damage to property. To remedy this defect, it is necessary to install the updated engine control unit software on all affected motorcycles.

During quality inspections, it was found that some front wheel collars did not meet the specification. Therefore, the collars must be checked on all affected vehicles and replaced if necessary.

During quality tests, it was found that the installed left switch control did not meet our quality standards and must therefore be replaced on all affected motorcycles that are linked to this bulletin in Dealer.net.

During quality checks, it was determined that the installed side stand spring does not meet our quality standards. For this reason, the side stand spring must be replaced on all affected motorcycles that are linked to this bulletin in Dealer.net. As part of the PDI, the routing of the engine breathing line should also be checked (see Fig. 1 and Fig. 2).

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

A software update is now available to support Quickshifter+. To ensure proper vehicle operation at the time of delivery, it is also necessary to perform an initialization run during the pre-delivery inspection (PDI). Refer to KTB2504, attached.
