What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2019 Lincoln Mkc, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Each component in detail
What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words
Engine
Reports naming the engine itself — including stalling, misfires, oil consumption, cooling and internal engine components.
From owner reports, verbatim
1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Answer: Engine / Powertrain (Engine Block & Cooling System). The vehicle suffered an internal engine failure caused by coolant intrusion into Cylinder #4, requiring a full engine long block replacement per Ford Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 22-2229. The vehicle and component are available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Answer: The engine suffered a sudden and complete loss of power without warning in the middle of active, moving traffic, leaving the vehicle dead in a live travel lane. Because the engine stalled abruptly due to coolant flooding the cylinder, the vehicle became an immediate, stationary obstacle in harm's way, creating an extreme risk of a high-speed rear-end collision or chain-reaction pileup that easily could have resulted in severe injury or a fatality for myself and other motorists. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Answer: Yes. The problem was confirmed by a certified technician who pulled active diagnostic trouble codes P0304 and P0316. The technician performed a borescope inspection through spark plug #4 and visually verified coolant intrusion inside Cylinder 4. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Answer: Inspected and diagnosed by a servicing dealer/technician who generated an official repair estimate (#9,496.97) confirming the defect and recommending engine replacement per Ford TSB 22-2229. (Note: Mention if inspected by insurance/police, otherwise leave as dealership/facility only). 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages? Answer: The Check Engine Light (CEL) illuminated immediately before or during the engine shutdown. The diagnostic codes (P0316 and P0304) indicate startup misfires caused by coolant accumulating in the cylinder while parked.
Car started shaking roughly when started, check engine light came on for cylinder misfire. Known engine problem where coolant leaks in to the engine block due to a known defect from Ford for these 2.0L engines. There is a TSB 22-2229 ([XXX]) already issued for this. Dealer inspected and confirmed the problem. Now the entire engine long block needs to be replaced resulting in $10,000 repair. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Electrical
Reports naming the electrical system — wiring, battery, charging, control modules, infotainment and electrical accessories.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2019 Lincoln MKC. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V572000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while in reverse(R), the vehicle failed to display an image of the rear of the vehicle. Additional safety information were also not available on the screen. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
The vehicle was recalled. I took the vehicle to the dealer where it was purchased. It was serviced. The engine issue was addressed, so we thought. The repair/replacement parts did not remedy the issue, despite it being in the shop for over 6 months. The problem persists. It is overheating in a 5 minute drive. The local service department is saying there is no other remedy. They keep asking we bring it in for another diagnosis, but the problem is the same as the 47,000 other vehicles that have been recalled by this same issue. We purchased the car and have not been able to use it.
Driver assistance
Reports naming forward-collision avoidance, lane keeping, back-over prevention, cruise control and related electronic driver-assistance systems.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2019 Lincoln MKC. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V572000 (Back Over Prevention). The contact had not experienced a failure associated with the recall. However, the contact was concerned that the dealer intended to inspect the vehicle to determine whether there was an issue with the rearview camera instead of replacing the back over prevention camera. The contact believed that replacing the part regardless if a failure had occurred or not would be a more appropriate preventative measure due to the failure associated with the rearview camera. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue.

The coolant/ transmission fluid is found to be leaking into the engine. Now I to pay for a new engine when I have had the car 1 year and 8 months. I still owe $22,000 on the vehicle, and while it’s said that Lincoln knew about this problem, no recall was ever issued. I am 3,000 miles over the warranty, but there are no security message popping up to say this is a problem. The dealership said nothing is firing of to warn of a problem in the computer either. I had the oil changed 1 month ago but was not told or warned of an engine defect either ( I was under mileage that time). I am asking for assistance to replace this engine. I feel there should have been a recall to replace the models effected. Others have had their engines replaced free of charge I asking to extended that same courtesy free of charge. And a recall should be issued for theses bad engines when the problem was known prior to sale. I have purchased Ford vehicles in the past and but I was married at the time but he too has a LMKC right now. Please advise on some type of assistance. Thank you

Interior & seats
Reports naming seats, latches, locks, linkages and interior fittings.
From owner reports, verbatim
I have called Leith Lincoln in Raleigh twice in less than 30 days to report an alert that continues to come through on my Lincoln app about the airbags. The airbag light comes on-on the dashboard even when there is not a passenger in the seat. The Restraints Indicator Lamp Warning comes on and remains on for an ample amount of time. The alert on the app states that "your airbag warning is on due to a fault with the passenger airbag detection indicator." It also tells me to contact the dealer. This is a safety concern for me.
TL* THE CONTACT LEASED A 2019 LINCOLN MKC. THE CONTACT STATED THE TRUNK FAILED TO OPEN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE LIFTGATE AJAR MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PREMIER LINCOLN (5001 GLENWOOD RD, BROOKLYN, NY 11234, (888) 643-4603) AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DEALER WOULD NOT SERVICE A LEASED VEHCILE NOT PURCHASED OR LEASED FROM THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE ISSUES. AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED WITH AN UNKNOWN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
Engine failure TSB 19-2346, A known/common issue with this engine. The car only has 73,790 miles on it. The car started shaking when started, engine light on, empty coolant reservoir and off then parking brake came on randomly several times , and the brakes locked up twice, which resulted in going over a curb. Discontinued driving the vehicle after that incident obviously due to safety. Ford service center gave a $13,000 repair estimate. The vehicle is still at Ford and available for inspection.
Engine warning light went on. Replaced spark plugs and coil to cylinder # 2. Then, Traction control light indicated system off. Technician advised the need for dealership software upgrade to ABS. Dealership advised that engine block allowing coolant intrusion into #2 cylinder. Needs a new engine. And need for a new ABS module, also defective.

Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.
From owner reports, verbatim
On or about July 29, 2025, the check engine light illuminated in my 2019 Lincoln MKC Sport with a 2.0L EcoBoost engine. A mechanic inspected the vehicle on August 4, 2025, and confirmed coolant is entering cylinder one, likely due to a blown head gasket or, less likely, an engine block crack. Symptoms include coolant loss, potential misfiring, and the check engine light activation. The issue was identified through diagnostic testing (e.g., borescope inspection or compression test, pending specific results). No external coolant leaks were observed, indicating an internal engine failure. The vehicle has 89,516 miles and was purchased three months ago on May 5, 2025, from Ford City in Champaign, Illinois. Safety Concerns: Coolant intrusion into cylinder one risks engine misfiring, rough idling, or sudden power loss, which could cause engine stalling or failure during operation. This poses a serious safety hazard, as it may lead to loss of vehicle control, particularly at highway speeds or in traffic, endangering the driver, passengers, and other road users. The defect compromises the reliability of the 2.0L EcoBoost engine and requires costly repairs. Additional Context: • No known history of severe overheating exists, but maintenance records prior to purchase are unavailable. • The vehicle has no aftermarket modifications. • No crashes or injuries have occurred, but the issue emerged shortly after purchase, suggesting a possible pre-existing defect. • Similar coolant intrusion issues have been reported in earlier 2.0L EcoBoost engines (e.g., 2013–2016 Ford models), and this may indicate a recurring defect in the 2019 MKC. • I urge NHTSA to investigate whether this engine issue warrants a recall due to its potential safety impact.

wheel bearing on driver's side front had to be replaced. It is not available for inspection. vehicle started making a loud woomp woomp noise near the wheel. My wheel could have seized while driving. The problem was confirmed and resolved by an independent service center. The vehicle was inspected by an independent service center There were NO warning lamps or messages prior to the failure. Symptom first appeared July 27, 2024.
I had my winter tires replaced with my summer tires. The repairman told me that the lug nuts were swelling and shouldn’t be put back on the vehicle, they may not be removable if there was a need to do it roadside. They said that this is an extremely prevalent problem with ford vehicles and Ford was not taking ownership of the problem. They even recommended that I NOT replace them with OEM parts but to buy after market uncapped lug nuts. They had a large box of defective lug nuts sitting in the repair area.

Not always, but when it is wet raining weather the wipers will not work properly. They slow step across the windshield and/or stop working all together. This was repaired a few months after we purchased the vehicle in September 2019. It happen again in March 2021 and now in May 2021. The dealer kept the vehicle for two weeks in March and said it was a ground wire issue. I took the vehicle back May 2021after running into rain and they wouldn't work, but started working by the time I got it back to the dealer and the rain had stopped. We are worried that at anytime we could run into rain and they could stop working, we have been lucky that the times it stopped working it was daylight and not at night.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE (SINCE 02/02/19), THERE IS A CONSTANT VIBRATION THAT FEELS LIKE I'M DRIVING ON RUMBLE STRIPS OVER NEWLY PAVED ROADS. WHEN ON PATCHED ROADS, THE VEHICLE SHAKES SO VIOLENTLY, THAT IT FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE IS GOING TO FALL APART. NO PICS TO SHOW OR SOUND FROM THE VEHICLE. THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE TRIPS THE DEALERSHIP, WHO INITIALLY REPORTED IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH FLAT SPOTS IN THE TIRES, HOWEVER, AFTER THEY WE CHANGED (WITH TIRES FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE LOT) THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. THE NEXT REASON WAS 'THAT THE VIBRATION WAS INTRINSIC TO THE VEHICLE.' THE DEALER HAS 'REBALANCED THE TIRES MULTIPLE TIMES' WHICH ONLY CHANGES THE SPEED AT WHICH THE VIBRATION IS FELT THE GREATEST. THE RANGE OF SPEED IS 25-50, IS LESS INTENSE FROM 50-60, AND RESUMES INTENSITY FROM 60+.
