What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2007 Lincoln Mkz, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Varsity Ford Lincoln is refusing to fix open recalls. My vehicle has been sitting with them for 90 days. Lincoln is refusing to help. Now the dealership in a letter is stating they are not going to fix the open recalls because I have to pay them money to fix my brakes before they'll do that in a text. They are extorting me.
Dealership and Lincoln refusing to repair.
Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
Under the following recall [XXX] Recall was performed in 2022 by Ford of Upland by replacing only the brake fluid. The problem resurfaced just as described in the recall a while back. I contacted Ford on 5/21 they contacted the dealer who refused to repair at no cost. Car is currently at independent respected shop who confirmed that the ABS pump/module is shot and is gummed up. Recall by ford of upland was not performed fully or wasn’t effective. Replacing the fluid only was not a fix. I contacted the dealer and the general manager refused to repair and fought with me on the phone. I told them I’d be filing a lawsuit if they wouldn’t provide the part at no cost and reimburse the repairs. Ford/Lincoln has stated there is nothing they can do without the dealers cooperation. I do not trust Ford of Upland to make any repairs, but that wasn’t even an option. Lincoln also stated that because Ford of Upland did the recall that they couldn’t send it to Performance Lincoln. 2007 LINCOLN MKZ V6. THE WHEEL/RIMS ARE GARBAGE. THEY ARE FALLING APART, CRACKS IN THE METAL, FINISH PEELING, AROUND THE TIRE PIECES OF THE RIM HAS FALLEN OFF. I CAN'T BELIEVE LINCOLN WOULD USE SUCH JUNK. I HAVE TO KEEP CHECKING THE AIR PRESSURE BECAUSE THE WHEELS/RIMS ARE SO TORN UP. I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR TWO WEEKS AGO. LINCOLN NEEDS TO HAVE A RECALL ON THESE WHEELS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED BECAUSE OF THEM FALLING APART. THE WELDS ARE BREAKING APART. THESE WHEELS/RIMS ARE DANGEROUS. *TR
CHROME WHEELS CONSTANT PEELING AND FLAKING. HAVE HAD TIRES RE-SEALED BUT KEEP GETTING FLAT TIRES, PARKED AND DRIVING.
Powertrain (other)
Powertrain reports that are not specifically the engine or transmission — driveshafts, axles, transfer cases and differentials.
From owner reports, verbatim
Internal Water pump Failed causing immediate shutdown of vehicle. This water pump is internal to the engine and requires half of the engine be taken apart to be replaced. This affect all 3.5 and 3.7 Ford engines through 2021. Unlike traditional water pumps which are belt driven this one is driven by the timing chain. Thereby when failure occurs the engine shuts down. Coolant also leaks into the oil as a result possibly resulting in engine damage. Ford is fully aware of the defect and refuses to recall. Regardless of age or miles this is a defect especially with vehicles equipped with the internal plastic water pump.
The contact owns a 2007 Lincoln MKZ. The contact stated that after having the rotors replaced, while driving approximately 30 MPH and attempting to stop the vehicle, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. The vehicle coasted before coming to a complete stop. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that there was a grinding sound coming from the rear of the vehicle while reversing. Additionally, was a slight delay while shifting gear. The contact also stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure was persistent during cold weather. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The brake pads and rotors had been replaced approximately 3 to 4 times. The vehicle was returned to the dealer but was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.

AFTER RECEIVING A LETTER IN THE MAIL REGARDING MY AIRBAG RECALL, I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE INTO WARREN FORD TO HAVE THE AIRBAGS RECALL RESOLVED. WHEN I PICKED UP MY CAR THERE WAS NOW AN AIRBAG LIGHT ON, ON THE DASH. PRIOR TO HAVING ANY WORK DONE THERE WERE NO DASH LIGHTS ON. WARREN FORD INFORMED US UPON REQUEST THAT THERE IS "NOTHING THEY ARE WILLING TO DO." THIS IS AN ISSUE BECAUSE PRIOR TO THE WORK BEING DONE I HAD NO ISSUES AND NOW THERE IS A LIGHT ON SHOWING ME THAT THERE IS SOME TYPE OF SAFETY CONCERN NOW. SINCE THE LIGHT WASN'T ON WHEN WE ORIGINALLY BROUGHT IT TO THE SHOP FOR THE AIRBAG RECALL, THERE MUST HAVE BEEN SOME KIND OF MISTAKE WHILE THEY WERE WORKING ON THE VEHICLE. THE AIRBAG RECALL REALLY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ISSUE NOW, THE ISSUE NOW IS THAT WARREN FORD SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR NOT FIXING/RESOLVING THE AIRBAG LIGHT ISSUE THAT IS ONLY ON SINCE THEY COMPLETED THE AIRBAG REPLACEMENT. THIS RECALL WORK WAS COMPLETED AROUND DECEMBER OF 2018. WARREN FORD STATED IT WAS NOT A LIFE THREATENING CONCERN AND TOLD US TO BRING THE CAR BACK AS SOON AS IT WAS CONVENIENT TO HAVE THEM RESOLVE THE LIGHT ISSUE. THEN WHEN WE BROUGHT THE CAR BACK THATS WHEN THEY SAID THERES NOTHING TO BE DONE AND THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE TO DO THE WORK.

MY AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON CONSTANTLY PASSENGER SIDE. THIS MAY CAUSE INJURY IF IN ACCIDENT I'VE REPLACES SEVERAL TIRES AND RECENTLY HAVE NEW ONES AND TIRE PRESSURE GOES COMPLETELY FLAT ON 2 BACK TIRES AND CONSTANTLY PUTTING AIR IN FRONT TIRES.. I RETURNED IT TO SERVICE STATION THAT INSTALLED TIRES AND HE SAID THE RIMS ARE SO CORRODED THAT'S WHY I'M LOSING AIR IN TIRES. THESE NEED REPLACED AND ARE COSTLY. I FEEL I MAY HAVE A BLOWOUT WHILE DRIVING IF I DON'T CHECK THESE DAILY. *TR
MY WIFE AND I WERE INVOLVED IN A COLLISION AFTER A WOMAN, WHO CLAIMS TO HAVE FALLEN ASLEEP, SIDESWIPED THE CAR IMMEDIATELY AHEAD OF US ON A 2-LANE ROAD. IN AN ATTEMPT TO AVOID A HEAD-ON COLLISION, I SWERVED OFF THE ROAD TO THE RIGHT. SHE ACCELERATED, TURNED LEFT AND GOT IN FRONT OF US AND WE COLLIDED WITH HE RIGHT FRONT FENDER AT THE WHEEL-WELL. THE CAR WAS TOTALED. THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND THE FRONT END WAS CRUSHED. I WAS DRIVING AND MY LEFT ARM WAS BROKEN. THE LITTLE AIRBAG IN THE STEERING COLUMN HIT ME IN THE CHEST, BRUISED ME, AND CAUSED SEVERE PAIN. MY WIFE WAS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. HER SEATBELT WAS SECURELY FASTENED, BUT IT DID NOT HOLD HER IN PLACE AS IT WAS DESIGNED TO DO. ON IMPACT, SHE MET THE AIRBAG HALFWAY AND MOST OF HER RIBS WERE FRACTURED. FOUR (4) OF HER VERTEBRAE WERE FRACTURED, AS WAS HER RIGHT ANKLE. HER LUNGS WERE BRUISED AND ONE WAS PUNCTURED. HER LEFT KNEE HIT THE DASHBOARD AND DROVE HER FEMUR THROUGH HER PELVIS. SHE WAS TAKEN TO UMD SHOCK-TRAUMA CENTER WHERE SHE WAS INTUBATED, SEDATED AND PUT IN TRACTION FOR SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE A 7 HOUR SURGERY TO REBUILD HER HIP AND FEMUR. SHE WAS IN A FULL-TORSO CAST AND USED A WHEELCHAIR FOR >6 WEEKS. SHE IS STILL REBOUNDING FROM THE EFFECTS OF THE INEFFECTIVE SEATBELT, WHICH DID NOT WORK AS DESIGNED.

MY VEHICLE IS HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME BREAKING. HAVE CHANGED ROTORS AND BREAKS MULTIPLE TIME TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM AS I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN 3 ACCIDENTS DO TO MY BREAKS SLIPPING. THE SLOPING HAS OCCURRED 2 TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ONCE IN OCTOBER 2020 AND THEN AGAIN IN JANUARY 2021 I WAS GOING 63 MILES AN HOUR AND WHEN I WENT TO PRESS ON THE BRAKES DUE TO TRAFFIC APPROACHING THE VEHICLE HAD A HARD TIME COMING TO A STOP. I HAD MY BRAKES AND ROTORS RE-DONE AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT IN NOVEMBER 2020. FOUND OUT ABOUT THE ABS RECALL AND HAVE CALLED TOYOTA/LINCOLN NUMEROUS TIMES OF THE LAST SIX MONTHS TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE RECALL AND FIXTURE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS NO PART OR REMEDY AVAILABLE.I FEEL AS THOUGH MY SAFETY AND MY CHILDREN SAFETY IS A GREAT RISK OF DANGER DUE TO THE AND FIXED SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL AS TOYOTA STILL NOT HAVING A REMEDY TO FIX IT.
MY CAR HAS HAD THE BRAKE PEDAL GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS. IT WOULD SUDDENLY GO SOFT/SPONGY AND BRAKING DISTANCE WOULD INCREASE DRAMATICALLY. THE PROBLEM WOULD OCCUR WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, QUITE RANDOMLY, EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS. I HAVE BROUGHT IT TO SEVERAL FORD DEALERS, AND NONE OF THEM EVER HAD A LEGITIMATE FIX, ONLY SAYING THAT THE SPONGY BRAKE PEDAL RESOLVES ITSELF AFTER AWHILE, AND IT WOULD EVENTUALLY, BUT THE ISSUE WOULD ALWAYS RETURN AGAIN. THE FORD/LINCOLN DEALERS SAID THE ISSUE OF THE UNUSUALLY SOFT BRAKE PEDAL WAS RELATED TO THE ABS SYSTEM. RECENTLY, I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, THE BRAKE PEDAL ISSUE RETURNED, AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO BRAKE IN TIME, AS THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, AND THE CAR DID NOT STOP AS IT NORMALLY WOULD HAVE. THIS IS A CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
