1993 Lincoln Town Car Airbags Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the airbag system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Airbags reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

OUR PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED DURING A WRECK WHICH CRUSHED MY THUMB ON MY RIGHT HAND, AS WELL AS MY RING FINGER ON RIGHT HAND. THESE REQUIRED SURGERY TO CORRECT. HAND STILL DISABLED WITH FINGER THAT WON'T BEND. DRIVER AND PASSENGER WERE INJURED BY THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WITH BURNS/ABRASIONS TO OUR KNEES (WEARING SHORTS AT THE TIME) . SINCE THAT TIME I (PASSENGER) HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH KNEE WHERE AIRBAG IMPACTED. DRIVER HAD SEVERE BURN/ABRASIONS TO HIS RIGHT ARM FROM WRIST TO ELBOW. THE AIRBAGS WERE TOO VIOLENT UPON BEING DEPLOYED.*AK
