Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.

InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.

I had three children in the vehicle getting out. Two in the second row and one in the third row. I walked away from the car with the key in my pocket and my two children in the second row closed the door on the child in the third row before she got out. Because my key was in my pocket and i was far away from the vehicle, the car locked when the doors shut. My child in the third row climbed into the second row and attempted to open the door--she could not open any of the rear doors. The child locks were not activated, and there is no way to open the rear doors when the car is locked. I tried this with my older child, thinking my younger child was not strong enough to manually open the doors when they were locked and the key was away, and she could not do it either. There is no way for a child to get out of the car if they accidentally close the doors on themselves, the key is not nearby, and the car locks. This is an EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD. This Lucid has many electrical glitches, but this is the first one that i have come across that now makes me nervous to own the car. Having child locks activated is a different story, but if those are turned off, anyone should be able to exit the vehicle when it is on or off if they are locked in the car. Children can become trapped and when this happens there can be severe consequences, especially in the summer time.

I am exiting the freeway, and the far two right lanes both exit. I’m in the inner exiting lane, and I signal to take the exit. There’s a car to my right, exiting at the same time. As I’m taking the exit, my Gravity Grand Touring seemingly thinks I’m going to turn into the other car exiting near me and engages the collision intervention, whereby it forcibly steers me into the gore point until I wrestle the steering wheel back into the correct lane. I’ve also noticed that the car sends an audible collision prevention alerts when I make a turn (with a turn signal on) when a car is turning next to me (like when there are two or three turn lanes). I have experienced other safety concerns with the software on this car. For part of the day, my turn signals did not function when I operated the physical stock controls. Additionally, I had an incident where the automatic folding mirror on my passenger side failed to fold back out into proper position while driving. It was essentially folded into the car, whereby I could not see any traffic on my passenger side.

Second row seat back will not lock into place rendering the seat useless because the seat back folds onto the seat bottom. The second row seat also slides backward and will not stop crushing my daughters foot while attempting to get into the 3rd row.

I have driven about 7 Lucid Gravity's. They have 0 straight line tracking. The car constantly veers towards the right without active pressure and correction by the driver. This has resulted in several dangerous instances when using hands free driving. Hands free driving randomly gets disabled and the car will start veering towards the right - giving me less than 2 seconds to react. I've been in several close calls driving at 65 mph on the highway. Lucid has verbally acknowledged multiple times that the car's cannot drive straight but have not given me any action plan on what they will do.

Yesterday, while driving home on a surface street, I experienced a sudden loss of drive power, multiple dashboard warning lights, and violent shaking throughout the vehicle, creating a significant safety hazard for both me and surrounding motorists. It is fortunate that this did not occur at highway speeds. The shaking was so intense that the head-up display on the windshield was visibly vibrating, and when I arrived home ( driving the one mile at less than 35 mph as indicated on the dash), I discovered that one of the rear seats had folded itself down. The other likely remained upright only because a child booster seat was installed there (fortunately unoccupied). The vehicle currently has 161 miles on the odometer, including pre-delivery mileage and is undrivable.

On February 6, 2026, my wife was operating our 2026 Lucid Gravity when she shifted into reverse. The rearview/backup camera failed to activate on the center display. Simultaneously, the electronic gear selector became unresponsive and would not change gears. The combined failure resulted in a near-collision; no impact or injuries occurred. Both affected systems remain in the vehicle and are available for inspection upon request. The rearview camera is federally required equipment under FMVSS No. 111. Its failure to display when reverse was selected, combined with an unresponsive gear selector, left the driver with neither rear visibility nor the ability to shift out of gear to avoid a hazard. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or service center. The defect was reported to Lucid Motors by email on February 9, 2026. As of this filing, Lucid has not scheduled a diagnostic appointment for this failure, and no technician has inspected the camera or gear selector. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance, or any other party in connection with this incident. Prior to the February 6 failure, the vehicle displayed persistent warnings since delivery, including a non-dismissible dashboard warning symbol and error messages for the surround view camera, rear steering, high beam assist, and headlights. These were first observed within days of delivery on December 16, 2025, and formally reported to Lucid on January 7, 2026. Whether these warnings were directly related to the backup camera or gear selector failure is UNKNOWN; my best assessment is that the surround view camera error and dashboard warning may have been early indicators of a broader camera or software fault, though this has not been diagnosed by the manufacturer.

Vehicle was driving at 50-55 MPH on [XXX] . The vehicle immediately gave multiple warning systems such as "Dream Drive Unavailable" "Regenerative Braking unavailable, use brake pedal" "Hold unavailable" "Dynamic handling unavailable" "Car will Power off in 5 minutes" and the car started applying the breaks and went into a "turtle" mode. It went from 50 miles per hour down to 35 miles per hour in the middle of the road with traffic. I had my three children, my wife, my grandmother, and my aunt in the car with me. We were almost rear ended, but we were able to move to the side and take the backroads to the house as we were 1 mile away. The car refused to drive after the 5 minute count down, and a tow company took the car to the Lucid dealership. Since 5/15/2026, the car has been at the same spot in the dealership, as they also have not been able to turn it on. They're also unable to look at it, due to a large amount of issues they have with other cars and lack of staff. The car is undriveable, has safety issues, and almost caused an accident with 7 passengers in the car. I would like Lucid to buy back the car, pay me back my down payment, and reimburse my last month of payment as I haven't been able to drive the car. They also have no timeline to when they will be able to look at the car, or repair it. Other users experience similar issues with the Lucid Gravity 2026 model, and numerous reports are online. When you press the button in the middle row to fold the seat forward so that the rear passenger can go to the back, the force of the chair is very strong. It almost knocked me out because my head was there and it flung forward. Also the middle seat on the middle row doesn't latch. You really have to use all your force to have it latch. The dream drive (auto drive) on the lucid is activated by the buttons on the steering wheel. The buttons do not work all the time. Sometimes I have to press it 5 times for it to disengage. It's very dangerous if it is in an emergency situation if the system can't turn off. I have it on video and the service center knows about it. There is no fix because they said they can try to replace the steering wheel again but it didn't work the last time.

They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
