The driver was driving down the freeway and lost all power. The driveshaft fell out of the truck at 70 mph, luckly the truck was working a night shift and traffic was light, only a piece was still attached. The dealer confirmed rear differenial failure. There were no warnings before the failure.

The driver was driving down an arterial street and the thru shaft failed on a blind corner. The driver was able to limp the truck to the shoulder. The drivers safety was put at risk as well as everyone else on the road, there would have been no way to move the trailer if it had been loaded and was blocking the road. The dealer was able to replace the thru shaft. The differential failed 7 months later and broke the drive shaft in half. Luckily the driver was able to get over to the shoulder and the pieces wedged between the crossmember and bottom of the truck so nothing was dropped onto the highway. The dealer performed the repairs under warranty. There was no warning before this happened.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
Compare model years
Complaint and recall counts across every year of this model
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
