The defect: Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Grecale, 2023-2025 MC20 Cielo, 2024 Granturismo, GranCabrio, 2021-2024 Levante, Ghibli, Quattroporte, and 2022-2025 MC 20 vehicles. The radio software may prevent the rearview image from displaying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."
The risk: A rearview camera image that does not display decreases the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: The radio software will be updated over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 10, 2025. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 740.

MY VEHICLE HAS TWO FAULTS THAT I BELIEVE ARE UNSAFE. FIRST, WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE HAS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS PUT ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. AN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL (ETC) WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS ON AUGUST 24, 2026, AT LOW SPEED IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC PRESENT. I LOST DRIVE PART WAY THROUGH THE TURN AND HAD TO RESTART THE ENGINE WHILE STOPPED IN THE ROADWAY TO CLEAR THE INTERSECTION. THERE HAS BEEN NO CRASH AND NO INJURY. SECOND, THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY FAILS TO START. SOMETIMES IT STARTS NORMALLY. OTHER TIMES IT WILL NOT START AT ALL, AND ONLY STARTS AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS AND A WAIT WHILE THE SYSTEMS RESET. THE KEY FOB BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE, ONCE BY ME AND ONCE BY THE DEALER IN JANUARY 2026, AND I HAVE TRIED MULTIPLE KEY FOBS. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED IN EVERY CASE, SO I DO NOT BELIEVE THE FOB IS THE CAUSE. THE DEALER'S OWN REPAIR RECORDS SHOW REPEATED ELECTRICAL FAULTS ON THIS VEHICLE. IN FEBRUARY 2025 AT 32,337 MILES THE VEHICLE STORED CODE P00C1, DISPLAYED AN ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL MESSAGE AND WAS SLOW TO ACCELERATE; A WIRING HARNESS WAS FOUND SHORTED AGAINST THE A/C CONDENSER PULLEY AND FUSE 37 HAD BLOWN. THAT IS THE SAME WARNING I NOW SEE WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN. IN JUNE 2026 AT 64,485 MILES THE A/C COMPRESSOR SEIZED. IN AUGUST 2026 AT 65,625 MILES THE REPLACEMENT COMPRESSOR'S CLUTCH WAS FOUND SHORTED AT 0 OHMS AGAINST A 3.3 OHM SPECIFICATION, DRAWING OVER 12 AMPS ON A CIRCUIT PROTECTED BY A 10 AMP FUSE, WHICH OPENED FUSE F12. TWO COMPRESSORS FAILED IN TEN WEEKS. I DO NOT KNOW WHETHER THE STALLING AND THE NO-START ARE RELATED TO THOSE ELECTRICAL FAULTS. NOBODY HAS DIAGNOSED THEM. THE STALLING HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND I HAVE STOPPED DRIVING THE VEHICLE. SERVICING DEALER: MASERATI OF CHARLOTTE, 400 TYVOLA ROAD, CHARLOTTE, NC.
