What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2002 Mercedes-Benz 300, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

From owner reports, verbatim
MY SON'S HAND WAS PULLED INTO THE SPACE BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE WINDOW, WHEN THE WINDOW WAS LOWERED BY THE DRIVER. THE BOY WAS PROPERLY SEATED AND BELTED, AND RESTING HIS RIGHT ARM ON THE DOOR SEAL NEXT TO THE WINDOW. THE DRIVER, MY WIFE, LOWERED THE WINDOW AT HIS REQUEST, AS THE WINDOW STARTED DOWN, HIS ARM WAS PULLED INTO THE GAP BETWEEN THE WINDOW AND THE CAR DOOR. THIS CAUSED PAIN AND SUFFERING, HE WAS ABLE TO PULL HIS HAND OUT OF THE SPACE BEFORE FURTHER INJURED OCCURRED. THE DESIGN OF THAT WINDOW/DOOR INTERFACE IS FLAWED , AS THERE IS SPACE ENOUGH FOR A CHILD'S HAND TO BE PULLED INTO THE GAP, CAUSING INJURY.
