Vehicle randomly overheats, primarily when idling and is stationary. Temperate will send gauge hot andwill pin to the hot side. Cooling system over pressurized. Steam started coming out of engine box. Car died and would not start. Fortunately I was able to vent the overflow cap. Needed to add a gallon of water.
Daughter was driving and smoke starting coming out of car. Had to pull over on side of the road - which is unsafe. The radiator Fan Assembly needs replaced, PCV valve needs replaced, CVT fluid which has been confirmed by Ted Russel Nissan in Knoxville, TN. No warnings went off for her to be prepared. This is a known issue and a class action lawsuit was filed in 2026.
The vehicle’s air conditioning began turning on and off intermittently while driving. I initially had the issue inspected by an independent mechanic, who checked the refrigerant and confirmed that the freon level was normal. After further inspection, the mechanic determined that the radiator cooling fan was not operating properly. The failed cooling fan appears to be affecting the vehicle’s cooling system and air conditioning operation. A malfunctioning radiator cooling fan can create a safety concern because it may prevent the engine from receiving adequate cooling, potentially leading to engine overheating, especially during extended driving or in hot conditions. The vehicle could potentially become disabled while being driven if the engine overheats. The problem was reproduced and confirmed by an independent service center. The cooling fan assembly is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle has not been inspected by Nissan, police, or an insurance representative to my knowledge. Prior to the failure being identified, the primary symptom was the air conditioning repeatedly turning on and off unexpectedly. There were no known warning lights or messages prior to the issue. The refrigerant was checked and found to be at an appropriate level, which led the mechanic to further investigate the cooling system and identify the nonfunctioning radiator fan. Unkown whether the fan failure is related to a larger manufacturing or design defect. However, I am concerned because premature radiator cooling fan failures have been reported on Nissan Rogue Sport vehicles, and a class action lawsuit was filed in July 2026 concerning premature fan failures and engine overheating in certain 2017 to 2022 Rogue Sport models. As of mid 2026, Nissan has not issued an official recall for the radiator cooling fan assembly in the Rogue or Rogue Sport. Had to pay an excessive amount of money to get this repair
The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Rogue Sport. The contact stated that while driving 30–40 MPH uphill, the vehicle decelerated unexpectedly, and failed to accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle rolled backwards. The contact activated the hazard lights and repeatedly depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle failed to stop, causing the rear of the vehicle to crash into the front of a trailing vehicle. The vehicle then completely shut off and became inoperable. No warning light was illuminated before or after the crash. No injuries were reported. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. The vehicle was later towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the mass airflow sensor and speed sensor needed to be replaced, along with a system calibration. The contact requested that the dealer place the repair on hold due to the severity of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.
While in rush hour traffic with over 100ft of clear road no cars, the car made its beeping noise and applied the ebrakes. This could've ended in a loss of life on the high way
I have a 2020 Nissan roque sport with under 70K miles. Started experiencing loud shaking and rattle when turning off car, seems to be the radiator cooling fan. There is a current class action lawsuit but no official recall. If i turn off A/C 2 minutes before getting to park and turn off car it does not rattle when i turn off i believe it does shake and rattle but with engine running do not feel it. No warnings or engine lights come on, the temparature of car does not rise past 1/2 point.
There is oil leaking into the engine. Whole engine needs to be replaced
Seat sensor is not sensing passenger sitting. Airbag off light is off on dash.
The radiator fans in the Nissan Rogues are faulty. The AC stops working and then the car overheats causing loss of fluid and white smoke coming out from underneath the hood. The engine light didn't even come on to warn us that the car was overheating.
Fan Assembly - Nissan (21481-6MA0B) failed at 68,000 miles. Can can overheat and car will fail. This fan helps cool the AC and radiator.
The fuel gauge has failed. The ac unit has been finicky since I purchased the vehicle and has already received one repair. Fuel gauge has been reading incorrectly for 2 weeks now. Read that it is a common issue for the nissan rogue sports. A few days ago my forward collision warning came on and said system error. There were no objects in front of me or stuck to the vehicle.
I had to replace my cooling system (fan, radiator, hoses, coolant) on this car after driving it only 30K miles. This led to over heating the car engine and stopped working because of that.. I was told by Nissan dealer it stopped working and they are seeing many of those issues related to the same car that I have. It costs me $1500 to replace it.
The engine overheated due to cooling fan malfunctioning.
Radiator fan issue. Dealership told me it is a common problem with this car. Cost is crazy expensive to fix . And if I fix it with Nissan part will this happen again because they are making bad parts.
The cooling fan stopped working causing engine to overheat. I looked it up and this is common problem with this car.
The electric fan motor on the radiator failed. This caused the vehicle to overheat. The cap on the coolant reservoir did not actuate and the coolant reservoir exploded. The mechanical failure of the fan lead to a catastrophic failure of the coolant reservoir. If someone, a service tech or customer was under the hood when this happened they would most likely have died due to the extreme force and heated liquid coming out of the exploded reservior tank.
Driver side door handle broken. Spring came loose when opening door. Dash has permanent alert showing door open when closed.
The cooling fan is defective and is causing the vehicle to overheat major safety concern for my family .

My acceleration hasn’t been working properly. I had my car inspected by a third-party and they said my transmission is slipping. The mechanic said this is a defect he is seeing in my type of car. He said bring it to Nissan so I did. Because there is no light or code popping up yet in my car, they refuse to do anything. They told me to keep driving my car unless a warning light comes on, despite me informing that I almost crashed several times due to the lack of acceleration.
Engine shut off while waiting at a red light when pressing the gas pedal, everything else working find gear shit moving but car like disconnected,then 1 week later shuts off again at a drive through while pressing the brakes , remote start has never worked in the vehicle which is equipped with one, sometimes the screens shuts off while driving having to turn on and off the car multiple times until it works
The cooling fan isn't coming on
I was driving home when I heard a bump sound and the malfunction came up on the control panel, the steering wheel would not stay straight and I had to put it a little to the left to drive straight . I proceeded to go forward through the stop sign and turned left to get to the house and when I went to turn l=right to get in the driveway it felt like I had a flat tire all of a sudden. I put it in park and got out and the front right tire on the passenger side was facing out away from the car! I immediately called aaa to bring it to the dealership.
My car just made 50k miles and the cooling fan has gone out. A google search for a more reasonable replacement option (I was quoted almost $1100 for parts and labor) led me to a message board of other owners with the same issue and a class action lawsuit against Nissan. If this is indeed a widespread and known issue, Nissan needs to own up to it and make it right.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
