2000 Oldsmobile Achieva Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

THE WHEEL BEARING ON BOTH THE FRONT LEFT SIDE RIGHT BROKE TWICE AND THE RIGHT SIDE ONCE. THE FIRST INCIDENT , I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND SINCE MY WARRANTY WAS 90 MILES OVER, I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY WHICH I DID. I PAID EACH TIME TO HAVE THESE REPAIRED. IS THIS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE? I WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR FEEDBACK. IF YOU REQUIRE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT ME. *JB

NOISY CATALYTIC CONVERTER, REPLACED BAD WHEEL BEARING AND BRAKES NOW FAILING (COMPLETE LOSS OF FLUID IN REAR) HORRIBLE DASH SQUEAK THAT CANNOT BE LOCATED OR FIXED. AWD FLUID HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO "WRONG FLUID USED" AT ASSEMBLY. I BOUGHT THIS "0" DOWN AND "0" INTEREST & OWE $5,000 MORE THAN THE THING IS WORTH FOR A TRADE IN!!!! I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT IT IS WORTH A LITTLE MORE THAN 30% OF ITS PURCHASE PRICE AT 35000 MILES 3 MODEL YEARS LATER!!! IT LOOSES VALUE FASTER THAN I CAN PAY FOR IT!!!

BRAKES AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. OLDS ALERO 2000 BRAKES SHUTTERED AND FAILED AT 23,000 MILES AS A GM PARTS WAREHOUSE EMPLOYEE I KNOW THAT MANY FELLOW EMPLOYEES AND MYSELF HAVE HAD THIS SIMILAR. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WITH MANY LESS MILES THAN MY VEHICLE,TYPICALLY WITH 4000 TO 10000 MILES. *NLM

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
