What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2000 Oldsmobile Achieva, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

BAD PAINT JOB ON HOOD AT DELIVERY, RE-CLEARCOATED IT. NOISY CATALYTIC CONVERTER, REPLACED BAD WHEEL BEARING AND BRAKES NOW FAILING (COMPLETE LOSS OF FLUID IN REAR) HORRIBLE DASH SQUEAK THAT CANNOT BE LOCATED OR FIXED. AWD FLUID HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO "WRONG FLUID USED" AT ASSEMBLY. I BOUGHT THIS "0" DOWN AND "0" INTEREST & OWE $5,000 MORE THAN THE THING IS WORTH FOR A TRADE IN!!!! I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT IT IS WORTH A LITTLE MORE THAN 30% OF ITS PURCHASE PRICE AT 35000 MILES 3 MODEL YEARS LATER!!! IT LOOSES VALUE FASTER THAN I CAN PAY FOR IT!!!
BRAKES AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. OLDS ALERO 2000 BRAKES SHUTTERED AND FAILED AT 23,000 MILES AS A GM PARTS WAREHOUSE EMPLOYEE I KNOW THAT MANY FELLOW EMPLOYEES AND MYSELF HAVE HAD THIS SIMILAR. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WITH MANY LESS MILES THAN MY VEHICLE,TYPICALLY WITH 4000 TO 10000 MILES. *NLM

THE WHEEL BEARING ON BOTH THE FRONT LEFT SIDE RIGHT BROKE TWICE AND THE RIGHT SIDE ONCE. THE FIRST INCIDENT , I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND SINCE MY WARRANTY WAS 90 MILES OVER, I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY WHICH I DID. I PAID EACH TIME TO HAVE THESE REPAIRED. IS THIS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE? I WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR FEEDBACK. IF YOU REQUIRE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT ME. *JB
