Recalls, owner-reported complaints, investigations and safety data

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.

InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

RIGHT REAR TIRE DISINTEGRATED, ON MY 2014 NEW FIFTH WHEEL TRAILER, FOR NO REASON ,OTHER A DEFECT. HAD GOOD HIGHWAYS. LESS THAN 1500 MILES. COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. THIS SEAMS TO BE A COMMON, PROBLEM. SOME OF THE SIDE WALLS, REMAINED ON THE DAMAGED RIM. SENT A FORM TO LIONSHEAD SPECIALTY TIRE AND WHEEL. THEY DENIED THE CLAIM. SOME THING NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE THERE IS A MAJOR ACCIDENT. *TR

OPEN RANGE 5TH WHEEL RV, WIRES FROM CHASSIS TO FRONT AXLE ELECTRIC BRAKES ROUTED OVER SPRINGS, INSULATION PARTIALLY RUBBED OFF DUE TO CONTACT WITH SPRINGS WHILE UNIT WAS IN TRANSIT. ON THIS UNIT, THE WIRES EXIT THE CHASSIS AND THEN GO TO THE LEFT, OR DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE UNIT (AXLES) WHEN ATTACHED TO A TOW VEHICLE. PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS A NEW UNIT WITH VERY FEW MILES ON IT AT THIS TIME. WIRES FROM CHASSIS TO REAR AXLE ELECTRIC BRAKES ROUTED OVER SUSPENSION COMPONENTS AND ARE VERY CLOSE TO THE SUSPENSION COMPONENTS. EXPECT TO SEE CONTACT AT THAT LOCATION, TOO WITH SIMILAR DAMAGE POSSIBLE TO INSULATION OF WIRES. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE ISSUE AVAILABLE IF THEY WOULD BE OF USE TO NHTSA. WHEN INSULATION FAILS I EXPECT A SHORT RESULTING IN FAILURE OF BRAKES IN RV UNIT....UPDATED 10/15/15 *BF UPDATED 8/23/2017 *CN
