1990 Plymouth Grand Voyager Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 1990 Plymouth Grand Voyager, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

THE VEHICLE HAD A FACTORY RE- MANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION INSTALLED, WHICH IS NOW STICKING IN SECOND GEAR AND FREQUENTLY FAILS TO SHIFT INTO ANOTHER GEAR. THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT HASN'T PROVIDED A REMEDY TO CORRECT IT. THE TRANSMISSION HAS TO BE REPLACED WITH ANOTHER RE-MANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION. *JB

THERE IS A PROBLEMS WITH EITHER THE ELECTRICAL OR FUEL SYSTEM IN MY 1990 PLYMOUTH GRAND VOYAGER. AS I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT A SPEED FROM 35MPH ON UP TO 65MPH, MY VAN HAS A "HICCUP". IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE EITHER TURNS THE IGNITION SWITCH OFF OR STEPS HARD ON THE BRAKE. IT FEELS LIKE IT JERKS INSIDE BUT I CANNOT TELL IF IT JERKS ON OUTSIDE. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN EVER TIME DRIVING. IT HAS BEEN LOOKED AT AND NO PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN FOUND BY THE AUTO MECHANIC. THEY HAVE EVEN DRIVEN THE VAN AND HAVE FELT THE PROBLEM. IT STARTED DOING THIS ABOUT 2 TO 3 YEARS AGO. IT WOULD USUALLY ONLY HAPPEN IN THE WARM WEATHER FROM JUNE THROUGH OCTOBER BUT THIS WINTER I HAVE EVEN NOTICED IT. IT HAS NOT COMPLETELY QUIT WORKING YET. *AK
