2026 RAM 1500 Visibility Problems

My 2026 RAM 1500 has the optional trailer tow mirrors. I have had similar trailer tow mirrors on my previous vehicle, a 2023 RAM 2500 HD and they did not seem to be as bad as they are here on my 1500 RAM truck. These trailer tow mirrors obscure too much visibility, particularly and specifically at an intersection. People in crosswalks, as well as other motorists at either the left or right of me, at an intersection, are almost completely impeded by these larger mirrors. I'm 6'1" and I still have to completely get out of my seat to see around these mirrors, to ensure I see other motorists and that don't hit someone. I have had multiple close calls with both vehicles to the left and right at intersections being almost completely hidden with these mirrors, and even a pedestrian recently at a crosswalk. I don't think these mirrors are safe. I don't feel comfortable having my wife drive my truck with these mirrors.

while operating my brand-new 2026 Ram 1500 at approximately 35mph, the panoramic sunroof suddenly and violently imploded with a loud explosion resembling a gunshot. There was absolutely no vehicle ahead of me, no overhead structures, and zero external impact from a rock or debris before the failure occurred.The glass shattered violently outward, showering the interior cabin and the roadway behind me with sharp, tempered glass shards. This structural failure caused an immediate, severe distraction while driving at highway speeds, creating an extreme safety hazard for myself, my passengers, and surrounding traffic.Upon taking the vehicle to three separate authorized Ram dealerships—including Finnegan Ram in Rosenberg, TX—service management verbally admitted they could find no physical evidence or point of impact on the glass, yet they refused to cover the repair or report the failure to the manufacturer as a factory safety defect. The vehicle currently has approximately 3100 miles and suffered a catastrophic structural glass failure under normal operating conditions.

On August 20 i received an update for the Uconnect blue screen in reverse recall. In doing this update it created a new problem with the u connect screen creating a blinding/distracting light in night time driving. They removed a setting theme mode which would keep the screen in dark mode. Without this setting the screen is in white mode. No other setting within the u connect settings will reduce the level of brightness. This could cause an accident do to eyes adjusting from the bright white screen. I have pictures to demonstrate issue.

Windshield wipers turned on by themselves and will not turn off, odometer is flashing, service airbag message on dash and airbag warning light flashing on dash and blinkers do not work. Stellantis cannot fix the problem and refuse to take truck back. Truck only has 3100 miles on it. Truck has been at Charlevoix Auto Ram Dealership Service since June 1, 2026. Multiple cases have been opened with auto manufacturer by dealership and us, the owner. Auto manufacturer will not buy back vehicle and put us new vehicle. We hadn't had vehicle for 3 months when this happened.

The contact owns a 2026 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 35 MPH, the rear panoramic sunroof exploded and shattered, causing shards and pieces of glass to fall inside the vehicle, onto the driver's side headrest, armrest, and on the center console. The contact closed the shade cover and continued driving to the residence, where the vehicle was parked. While the contact’s wife was searching through the vehicle, she sustained a cut on the right forearm but did not seek medical assistance. The contact had not sustained any injuries. The contact stated that while driving to the dealer later, the shattered sunroof glass flew off and fell onto the tonneau cover. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that an assessment was being made to determine whether the failure had occurred due to an external impact. The contact was advised that it was not yet determined whether the repair would be covered under warranty. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,900.

I almost pulled out in front of oncoming traffic because I did not see the traffic, it was in a blind spot. The exterior left and right rear view mirrors are so large they block visibility from the left and right oncoming traffic at an intersection. They create blind spots for oncoming traffic putting our safety at risk by not seeing the oncoming traffic. Dealer not responsive to documenting this safety hazard. No warning lights for the left and right oncoming traffic at an intersection.

The back up camera display intermittently shows a blank blue display instead of the camera image while the vehicle is in reverse. This has occurred 4 times over 5 months of ownership of this brand new vehicle. The issue is usually resolved after a complete power cycle of the vehicle. The rear visibility of the vehicle is poor without the added benefit of the back up camera. The problem has not yet been brought to the attention of the dealership as it is very intermittent and has not been inspected by anyone but myself. There are no warning indicators.

The rearview camera intermittently fails to display an image when the vehicle is shifted into reverse and instead shows a solid blue screen. This results in a loss of rear visibility while backing. The dealer previously replaced the infotainment/radio module to correct this condition, however the failure has reoccurred after the repair. Restarting the vehicle temporarily restores camera function, but the condition returns intermittently. The malfunction creates a safety risk because the driver cannot see behind the vehicle while reversing, increasing the risk of collision with pedestrians or objects. This issue has been documented and reproduced during normal operation. Video evidence is available. The vehicle is currently pending another inspection/repair attempt. No warning messages appear prior to failure. The failure occurs upon shifting into reverse.

2026 Ram 1500 Big Horn - 1500 miles - At temperatures just below freezing, fan speed set to highest level and HVAC temperature set very high, the defroster was not able to prevent precipitation from freezing on the upper half of the windshield. This obscured my visibility and presented a safety risk while travelling down the freeway. It was only mitigated by near continuous use of de-icer windshield washer fluid. Very little air was coming out of the defroster duct and the majority was coming out by my feet. Cycling the HVAC system through all the different modes produced expected behaviors in all cases, except there is no perceptible difference between full defrost and defrost/feet mode. The temperature of the air is as expected; there is just insufficient flow from the central duct at the base of the windshield. The vehicle is scheduled to be serviced by the dealership. No warnings, OBD codes, or other indicators are present.
