Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.

InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

The defect: Starcraft RV, Inc. (Starcraft) is recalling certain model year 2014 Autumn Ridge, AR-ONE, and Travel Star Exp trailers manufactured February 13, 2014, through February 24, 2014. The affected trailers may have been built with frame spring hangers that may be brittle and susceptible to fracturing.
The risk: A spring hanger that fractures may result in a loss of control of the trailer, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Starcraft will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the frame spring hangers, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on July 7, 2014. Owners may contact Starcraft customer service at 1-800-945-4787.

I HAVE ENTERED THE WRONG PRODUCT SINCE IT IS NOT LISTED IN YOUR DATA BASE. AN ENTIRE COMPANY FLEET OF 2012-2014 STARCRAFT 14 PASSENGER PROPANE BUSES HAVE HAD REPEATED FAILURE OF THE FUEL PUMPS; EVEN WHEN NEW, AND EVEN THOUGH THE MANUFACTURER CLAIMS TO HAVE A "THIRD GENERATION" "IMPROVED" FUEL PUMP. THE FUEL PUMP FAILURE HAPPENS OFTEN AND REPEATEDLY, WITHOUT WARNING, EVEN THOUGH THE MANUFACTURER STATES THE DRIVER SHOULD HAVE 15-20 SECONDS BEFORE TOTAL SHUT DOWN. DRIVERS HAVE COMPLAINED STALL IS IMMEDIATE WITH NO WARNING FROM DASH PANEL SENSORS, BY A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND LIMITED BRAKING. DRIVERS HAVE HAD THIS OCCUR WHILE TRAVELING ON MAJOR HIGHWAYS, ENDANGERING BOTH THEIR LIVES AND THAT OF THEIR PASSENGERS. IN ONE INSTANCE, A BUS CARRYING PASSENGERS STALLED ON A MAJOR FREEWAY AND A SECOND BUS HAD TO BE CALLED IN TO PICK UP THE STRANDED PASSENGERS. THIS ALL OCCURRED ON AN ENTRANCE/EXIT RAMP. DRIVERS ARE FORCED TO DRIVE THESE DANGEROUS VEHICLES, AS THE COMPANY HAS DECIDED TO PHASE OUT THE DIESEL VEHICLES, AND "GO GREEN" WITH PROPANE - BUT THIS SHOULD NOT BE DONE AT THE COST OF SERIOUSLY ENDANGERING PEOPLE. DRIVERS HAVE REPEATEDLY COMPLAINED THAT THEY DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THESE HORRIBLE VEHICLES WITH THEIR DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMPS (AND BACK AND LEG ISSUES DUE TO A NON-ADJUSTABLE SEAT FOR TALL DRIVERS), BUT CONCERNS HAVE FALLEN ON DEAF EARS; AND THE MANUFACTURER KEEPS SAYING THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH THE NEW PUMPS AND/OR VEHICLES. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT TRUE - EVEN THE NEW PUMPS AND NEW VEHICLES CONTINUE TO HAVE THIS PERSISTENT PROBLEM - FOR THE PAST 2? YEARS, AND CONTINUING RIGHT UP UNTIL THIS COMPLAINT ON JULY 9 2014 - ON 100? BUSES. THIS NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION PLEASE. *TR

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
