Owner-reported complaints naming the seat belt system, filed with NHTSA
Data refreshed
Seat belts reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT BELT IS STUCK AND WON'T RETRACT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE WAS A RECALL FOR IT. IT HAPPENED JANUARY 2017. I WAS FIRST TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THERE WAS A RECALL AND THEN THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. IF THERE WAS A RECALL, WE NEVER RECEIVED ANY CORRESPONDENCE.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 TOYOTA 4RUNNER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE IS AN 18 INCH STRIP OF FABRIC UNRAVELING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT. THE MORE HE USES IT, THE FASTER IT COMES APART. THE FABRIC IS HOLDING ON BY A THREAD. THE LOCAL DEALER STATED THAT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS SO MANY MILES, THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 269,978 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 230,000.
