2019 Toyota C-HR Driver assistance Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the driver-assistance system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Driver assistance reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

The CVT transmission failed at approximately 60,000 miles. The vehicle was fully maintained by Toyota dealerships. The failure of the transmission bearing will cause the car to lose power and could fail while driving, creating a risk of being stranded in traffic or being unable to accelerate to avoid a collision. Toyota Canada has extended the warranty for this same transmission issue up to 119,924 Miles (193,000 KM) and 10 years on comparable Toyota C-HR vehicles, but Toyota USA has refused to provide the same coverage.” See comments at Toyota Forum [XXX] Please see below Toyota Canada announcement: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My cvt transmission carrier bearing has went bad in my vehicle. Not only have these bearings been one of the main conplaints, this vehicle has several recalls. And which the recall for the precondition system has went bad in mine months ago. I was driving home when suddenly my car got hard to drive n their were very loud noises. Got it looked at and was told it was that bearing. That u can not afford to even fix. I still owe 12k on this car. Ive inky had it for exactly 2 years with only 114k miles on it. Thr bearing should not be malfunctioning already. Toyota needs to fix it or replace the whole transmission cuz no shop will fix the bearing. They tell me I need to buy a new transmission

Yesterday While I was driving down i270 in Maryland without any car around the car hit the break and made the emergency break sound as well as saying “BREAK” in the driver dash. This has happened ~5 times in the past 3 years or so. It’s pretty scary thinking how lucky I have been so far with no one rear ending me when it happens. Also, this has happened a few times while in adaptive cruise control as well.

The camera that controls Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, and Automatic Emergency Braking shuts off during high-temperature weather. This was brought up to the dealer, and they dismissed it as normal. This occurs randomly and during the adaptive cruise control use. The car will beep, show the system off, and revert to manual control.

The system is malfunctioning. Indicators on dash come on showing pre collision system is off. And I have to manually go into the controls, turn it on, but it doesn't immediately turn on. I have to exit out, and enter the menu several times to get it to turn back on. It happens when idling and while driving.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
