2022 Toyota Corolla Owner Complaints

I bought this Toyota second hand with a little over 29k I had it less than a month when the slave cylinder failed. While in this particular Corolla the slave cylinder and brake booster share fluids. So when I lost my clutch I also lost my brakes with my toddler In the car. Toyota is aware of the faulty slave cylinders and has decided to fix them as they come vrs doing a recall. We could have died. And to top it off Toyota refused to cover it under their power terrain warranty. The car still doesn’t drive correctly even after the dealership I bought it from agree to cover the cost. This is a 2022 Toyota Corolla se Manual transmission.

My passengers airbag light is on and it causes a safety issue. I called Toyota and they washed their hands off. Telling me that my VIN number does not fall under the recall where I know for a fact that car is made around the same time have many recalls with this particular issue. I was not given any help at all.

I am reporting a severe safety defect regarding a failed engine coolant bypass valve on my 2022 Toyota Corolla Apex SE (VIN: [XXX], Mileage: 54,700). An authorized Toyota dealership has scanned the vehicle and confirmed active Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P268115 ("Engine Coolant Bypass Valve Circuit Open"). This mechanical and electrical failure triggers an immediate dashboard warning and creates an imminent risk of sudden engine overheating, thermal engine damage, and catastrophic loss of motive power (stalling) while traveling at highway speeds, placing myself and other motorists at risk.Toyota is fully aware of this widespread defect and issued Customer Support Program (CSP) 24TE04 to extend the warranty on older models (2019–2021) for 10 years or 100,000 miles due to high part failure rates. However, my February 2022 vehicle was factory-equipped with the exact same defective, un-superseded valve part number, yet Toyota has arbitrarily excluded my vehicle from free repair based solely on its calendar production date.Furthermore, Toyota's corporate office has denied goodwill coverage because I am a secondhand owner without previous maintenance records, despite this being a sealed electrical actuator failure completely unrelated to routine maintenance. I am a [XXX] senior citizen living on a fixed Supplemental Security Income (SSI) budget. Toyota's denial forces an elderly, low-income consumer to either navigate a hazardous, stalling-prone vehicle on public roads or lose essential transportation because an arbitrary corporate policy places a $1,045 manufacturing defect repair entirely out of financial reach. Additionally, while shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, the clutch was almost stuck to the floorboard. The contact placed a foot behind the clutch pedal to raise the clutch pedal manually off the floorboard. The contact stated that the brake fluid reservoir had drained; however, after adding brake fluid to the brake reservoir, the brake fluid level was low two days later. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 89,000.

Toyota South Atlanta in Morrow, Georgia, released my vehicle after a factory warranty repair for transmission failure. However, they failed to properly complete or verify the repair. The dashboard is now throwing critical error codes stating 'A malfunction in the electronic control of the engine, throttle, or automatic transmission has been detected' and 'A malfunction in the VSC, TRAC, or hill-start assist control system has been detected.' Additionally, their own technician documented that my front brakes FAILED. They forced me to drive away without a safety waiver, and a front brake pad has since completely fallen out in front of my home . The vehicle suffers from total mechanical transmission and brake failure.

These malfunctions are induced by a persistent server-side enterprise management policy ('DISABLED_BY_ADMIN_POLICY') applied to the connected mobile device. The resulting software-induced failures cause the vehicle's display to freeze or become unresponsive, creating a severe and unpredictable distraction to the driver while operating the vehicle. Despite documenting these incidents, the manufacturer’s support team has refused to remediate the software conflict, instead instructing the user to power down the device during operation. The interface failure persists across multiple driving sessions, presenting a continuous risk of operator distraction and loss of critical navigation/safety data.

Two A21 Cylinder Assy, RR DI @$402.90. Two A11 Actuator assy, parking @ $2168.34 also customer paid shop charge for repair order @ $99.00. Plus tax Total $3585.52 This car is a 2022 toyota corolla hybrid. Mileage at 78,000. This on flat ground in clients driveway, and the in emergency break was not used after turned off. Was inform is that the brakes looked in very good condition, so wonder why the emergency brake malfunction notification came on with Vehicle unable to move. Why was not explained.

The "Engine Maintenance Required" signal keeps coming on when I start my vehicle and the A/C is on. It is a fault of a code for the bypass coolant valve, which is in perfect condition. I just took my vehicle for the regular maintenance over the weekend. The regular "Maintenance Required" signal went off after picking it up. After an hour or two, the "Engine" signal reappeared. This is a common issue in the Toyota's and I shouldn't have to be financially responsible for a faulty code.

Hydraulic throw out bearing failed Clutch peddled stuck down to floor and when manually rotated back to resting postion it was stuck there. Clutch system stopped working during normal operation of vehicle. Suspected leaking Hydraulic throwing out bearing. Internal short within headlamp assembly causing the fuse to blow. Unrepairable, requires full replacement of part. Confirmed by MyAutoImports licensed Toyota repair center. Passenger side day running light, headlight, and brights are inoperative. Turn signal and front right indication light are still functioning. No warning prior to, but system warning came up after the short first occurred telling me to take into a dealer asap.

Hello, on October 14th 2024 I reached out to Toyota over a “engine maintenance required” message on my dash along with a check engine light. I took it to the local toyota dealership in Downey CA. After testing the Engine coolant bypass valve B Control circuit high failed. Toyota replaced the valve on October 21st 2024. Issuing me a 1year/12,000 mile warranty. On Thursday January 15th 2026 the drive start control malfunction warning light along with a P26AE error code displayed. Upon testing the engine coolant bypass valve B control circuit high failed again. Speaking with Toyota my vehicle VIN is not part of the CSP service campaign they have for 19-23 Corolla models. I spoke with Toyota Corporate and they couldn’t/wouldn’t help. This is a severe safety risk as the valve failed at a moments notice with no warning or symptoms. Additionally it can lead to engine stall and catastrophic damage, risking other drivers if engine loses power. This is an ongoing and recurring issue with RAV4/Corolla/Cross models and Toyota is facing a lawsuit here in California from other drivers with the same problem. I would like for my VIN to be added to the safety recall as Toyota Knowingly replaced the Valve with the same defective part per the technician who fixed my vehicle the first time who warned me this was going to happen again. My engine stalled while driving. My low tire pressure light came on and an hour or so later I was turning left at a light. My left turn signal was on. Suddenly my car stalled and the message that stated Put in park, steering power low showed on screen. Put car in park and restarted and it started right up. Dealer said no codes and could not replicate. Only 18,000 miles on car. Huge safety issue!!!!!
